editing first appearance issues

How can I edit/add a first appearance issue to a character? I can't figure out how to do it! Any suggestions, anyone?

A question about the encyclopedia? How bizarre.

You can't do it from the character page. Go to the actual issue and check the "First Appearance" box. You may need to add the character if they're not already there.

I'll admit that I didn't know and was curious myself. I don't edit issues, so I've never seen this box.

Hopefully that issue will be in the Comicvine or someone will have to input the issue

OK, I removed Sylph from Nightwing $48, then attempted to re-add her to mark it as her first appearance. I didn't see that option. Has this instruction changed since 6 years ago?

@darci: I'm pretty sure the database automatically puts the first appearance based on the earliest dated issue they appear in. This unfortunately makes some incorrect.

@jloneblackheart Thanks, I've corrected the date of Nightwing: Big Guns so it will no longer be her first appearance.

@darci: corrected it with the correct date though right? if you just guessed/randomly added a later date to fix it that's no good.

@pikahyper Yes, I corrected the date using Mike's Amazing World of DC Comics (see http://dcindexes.com/features/database.php?site=&pagetype=comic&id=20650 ).
