You have this guy who can stop time and also become intangible, two of the most overpowered powers in fiction, plus he is also an assasin that can kill with an invisible punch. Do you guys think if there wasn't a no killing rule, Hit would have fared better than he did?
Was Hit limited in the Tournament of Power?
Yes and also Frieza would have done better.
@skrskr: semantics
so you're telling us hit is the most strongest character that is not an angel or zeno ? i don't know, goku already defeated hit albeit in a long drawn out fight with goku expecting something from hit. why would jiren who's job as protector in their universe would suddenly be more susceptible to hit ?
@skrskrsaid:
@03s7: if killing was allowed jiren would have killed hit, jiren absolutely overpowered hits abilities and is stupidly stronger.
He had to hold back on everyone.
Depending on what source you use, Jiren has a no killing rule and tends to take his opponents attacks head on(as stated by Belmod)..so no.
@kyrees: Cuz Hit is more of an assassin than brawler. He killed Goku with one attack, Goku was lucky to survive
that would be a problem to jiren whom fights evil on a daily basis because it's his job ? he probably had his share of would be assassins so is that any different here ?
@kyrees: I'd say most lethal, his entire repertoire is designed for 1 hit kills on single targets. Imagine if he aimed for the brain or other weak points.

that lethality doesn't undermine jiren's job description which is fighting evil and in fighting evil, he did experience multiple characters more than willing to kill him.
@kyrees: you still forget that eventhough Jiren did beat Hit, Hit had to hold back on all his techniques. Instead of aiming for the heart, he has to try and hold back. Plus even while holding back, he still got a solid shot. That would have been enough to kill him especially his purple rasengan

jiren was also holding back on hit or particularly everyone on the tournament. what would had happen if jiren just let go also ? also he's more likely to be even more guarded from people that are now more than willing to kill considering he experiences this kind of problem everyday.
For sure he was limited. If the no kill restriction was lifted, Hit would have gone to town. Of course, other fighters would have taken advantage of that rule as well, but there's no guarantee others would have been affected. For example, Jiren is supposed to be a hero of justice, so I don't think he would have started killing everyone in one shot. Hit is an assassin first and foremost, so he would have been even deadlier. GoD Toppo might have started hakiaing everyone as well if he was desperate enough.
It did limit Hit but Jiren would still win. Jiren already destroyed Hits dimension so he couldn't go intangible, punched out Hits phasing punches (atleast I think he did, I could be wrong), countered/resisted time skip/stop and overpowered time cage.
Hit could do way more in the tournament without no killing rule but he would still lose to Jiren.
Hit might have lost to Jiren in a straight fight, but if Android 17 can get a sneak attack in I think Hit can too. And as strong as Jiren is there's no reason to think he could keep fighting if Hit exploded his heart with one of his internal attacks while Jiren was grand standing after beating down a few other fighters.
@kyrees: that's not in Jirens character, he's a hero. A prude trooper who has a sense of justice. He more or less would have reacted the same way. Then when Hit finally landed that punch on him he'd be dead

pride troopers are essentially police men just in space and fires ki blasts and in their line of work, someone is bound to try to kill them. he would be far more guarded against his enemies and will retaliate accordingly. also, jiren is like goku whom doesn't react accordingly till his enemy goes all out. hit going all out is more likely to trigger jiren to go all out as well.
@metaljimmor: you have a good point actually, if Hit tags Jiren with his phasing punch while he is off guard he could very well kill him, assuming Jiren has organs like humanoids that is.
Hit was restricted but not to the point where it would've been a difference maker in the grand scheme of things. Let's recount Hit's fight with Jiren, Jiren could:
-React to Hit's time skip attacks
-Sense Hit while he was in a different dimension
-Not be fooled by phantom Hit
-React to Hit's invisible ki blast
-Block Hit's blast despite the fact that it phases
-Resist Time Cage
If Jiren could react to timeskip, sense Hit across dimensions, and actively see Hit's invisible attack, there's very little chance Hit would land a sneak attack from the start. He'd have to bait Jiren similar to what was shown in their encounter, except he wouldn't last long enough to do so since Jiren would be weary of the rules to kill.
Aka Hit takes out a lot of people but still hard stops at Jiren.
@the_legendary_supersaiyan_hulk: Where does jiren have a no killing rule? He tried to kill all of universe 7 that was watching...
Nah I think his abilities were just straight up nerfed. Like his time skip just turned into invisibility and instant transmission.
@skrskr: Was stated by Belmod in the manga
@skrskr: that doesn't conflict with tournament rules.
