Shango had 3 wives but his favorite wife was Osun (pronounced: Oshun). Even though Shango wasn’t the best person, his wife loved him very much and was willing to do anything for him. After Shango’s death, Osun becomes stricken with a great depression and after a while, she drowns herself in a river. Because the gods were fond of them, they took Shango to the sky and made him the god of thunder and lightning and Osun’s soul stayed in the water and she became the goddess of kindness and pleasure and she resided in the sea with Yemaya. Osun became a loving goddess and she was admired by many.
