DCEU Hype and anticipation thread

It occurred to me I meant to make this a month ago but never got around to it ?. As the title says this thread is a DCEU go to spot so drop any news, fan art, set peices, anything you got to keep the hype going. I'll start off with Aquaman because it looks friggin glorious and gives me MOS type masterpiece vibes. It's also set to rake in a bunch of cash. It'll be interesting to see if it breaks an origin movie record despite being available for blu ray/digidal like Wonder Woman did last September

Aquaman really does look great. A pulpy globe-trotting action adventure combined with a sci-fi/fantasy epic crossed with a superhero film.

Lol. DC even denounced the name "DCEU" calling it fan made. Renamed it WoDC basically announcing its not connected anymore, even going for as to say even previous DCEU films will not be connected or cameo in other DC films. Cavill and Affleck are out. Joker is already recast.

JL literally flopped...and after all this fans still to try to entertain a Marvel like DCU.

DCEU is back and better than ever. Aquaman alone will skewer the MCU.

Aquaman is DCEU's Rebirth while hype for MCU dies after Infinity War part 2. After Infinity War 2 no one is going to care about future MCU movies since Infinity War is the zenith of the MCU.

If Cavill and Affleck are really leaving Warner Bros could do a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie to kill them off, introduce the new Superman and Batman and immortalize Cavill and Affleck as the pre crisis Superman and Batman of the DCEU.

I can't wait to see Aquaman, and clearly I'm not alone. As was stated above, pre-sales have been through the roof.

@gspotman: Changing names don't make the movies not connected. The name DCEU is a fanmade, hence why WB had to make it clear that its name is WoDC. There's no single proof or even any implication that it's going to be rebooted. Joker isn't part of WoDC, stop making fools out of yourself.

JL was bad, but so was Age of Ultron. Did that stop MCU? No, and where did you get the idea that DC want to be like MCU? It doesn't even fit their characters, it wouldn't work.

I think it's definitely possible. Pre-sale tickets have been great, so the hype is there for sure.

Yeah, it's almost like there's very little to be lost in hoping a movie will be good.

Hoping didn't work 4/5 times. My cynicism is justified.

That wasn't really my point. It's good to be critical of the things you didn't like so that they can be avoided going forward. But in hoping that the movies coming out and made going forward, there's very little to lose, so why not hope for the best while still being cautious? The most the fan loses is the price of a movie ticket and a couple hours and not even that if they're willing to wait to hear what reviewers they trust say when the movie comes out.

@DeathandGrim2: Oh believe me I've been watching WB like a hawk since Suicide Squad, JL just solidified my paranoia. I have no idea if they'll ever admit they dropped the ball and release Snyder's/Ayer's original cuts but people will never look at them the same even after Aquaman's inevitable success

Aquaman looks good and from what most people are saying is the movie looks really good too which is really important for heavily CGI movies

I'm slightly buying into the Aquaman hype. I think Wan is a good director and might have pulled it off. I'm hearing it's like a Phase 1 MCU film which is not bad for an origin.

I still really want the DCEU to succeed. If the next three films really pull through (Aquaman, Shazam, WW84) and they’re looking great so far, I think it’ll be enough to win the general public over and keep this universe going. Consistency is what sold the MCU, and so the DCEU needs to do the same.

@veshark: Consistency in quality won't be a problem with any of those 3 you mentioned and with trilogies all but inevitable for them along with BOP and New Gods they're back in good graces. It feels so good to see them doing so positively after the whole JL mess.

@the_gaurdian: I think it’s still way too early to call it though. There’s no guarantee those three movies will score in the box office and with public perception, though it does seem promising. I also don’t have much faith in a BoP movie or New Gods (which seems like an idea at this point) but who knows.

My worry is the DCEU doesn’t really seem to have a guiding hand or a longterm gameplan right now.

No idea if it's DCEU connected but Jamie and Zatanna are coming to the silver screen hopefully sooner rather than later. Good to see Walter Hamada keeping good on his word to prop up lesser known characters that could go big. Now to just extend that courtesy to Doctor Fate, Martian Manhunter and the Atom (Ray and Ryan)

I'm sure everyone's seen by now but Jason straight up says "Zack's cut" before straight up saying that Aquaman is canon to that film and not the theatrical cut. So basically Aquaman takes place a few days or so after Zack's Justice League. It kinda feels like JL: War and Throne of Atlantis.

Aquaman had a very strong opening in China. Hopefully it follows suit in the rest of the world.

So far, China is really liking it.

A tweet from my favorite Bat family member herself. If this movie matches the tone of Suicide Squad even a little bit I'll be overjoyed. Also she's apparently following Affleck on twitter so there's a sliver of hope we'll be seeing him don the cowl again sooner rather than later.

I thought this was pretty fking great too. Nearly 200k views and it hasn't even been a full 48 hours yet! This is the second time he's brought up Zack's vision for JL and now that he's superstar level on the level of Gal and Ben he's got a BIG leverage position over WB. This is amazing to see him do because so many people got shafted in Whedon's Frankenstein reshoots and AMY ADAMS of all people doesn't know when she'll reprise her Lois Lane role. I just know Ray Fisher and Ezra Miller are itching to get on stage with Jason and tell everyone what WB robbed us of.

@the_gaurdian: Thanks, this is actually surprising. So Steppenwolf would of been the villain for Suicide Squad and Justice League?

@the_kidd: That's what I'm guessing. There's some concept art that dropped around this time 2 years ago where Enchantress was summoning Steppenwolf too. I'm guessing somewhere along the way they decided to switch it up and make her the big bad instead of Stepp for some reason

@the_gaurdian: Just saw a reddit thread explaining the situation, DCEU deserves to fail after all the butchering. Not sure I like Steppenwolf engaging the Squad tho, if they had just stop his invasion before it had began then okay. Steppenwolf would went from holding his own against gods to being trolled by Suicide Squad to beating the Justice League then ultimately humiliated by Superman. Lol.

In comparison, how were the opening days for other CBMs?
