Originally I wanted to make one Respect Thread for all versions of Darkseid in one thread. Pre-Crisis, Pre-Flashpoint and New 52/Rebirth. However, due to not making this too long and tedious to read, I decided to separate it into two. One for everything before Flashpoint, and one for everything after. While this should technically be the second one, there is a lot less reading material for Post-Flashpoint Darkseid than Pre-Flashpoint Darkseid. Therefor, I decided to make this one first. I got interested in the character pretty recently and considering the fact that he is one of those characters that a lot of people argue over (whether they support him or his opponent), none of them really read a lot of Darkseid comics, if any of them for that matter. So I decided to make complete respect thread for the character so people can know what he is capable of. Not that I want or expect anyone to use these threads as a reference every time they talk about Darkseid, but this is still there as a supporting source of info. This will be similar to regular format I rely on when I made RTs. For the record, I will also use feats preformed by Darkseid's daughter Grail, because she has all of his powers and she is weaker than Darkseid, so he can scale off of her. Enjoy.

Origin and History

The Origin of Darkseid was changed pretty significantly since Flashpoint "reboot". Although the core of the character pretty much remained the same. He is powerful force of the Universe everybody is afraid of. He rules Apokolips with an iron fist and possesses the power of the Omega Effect (although the Omega Effect has never been explored and explained in detail as nearly as much as it was Pre-Flashpoint). He is also the Brother and an enemy of the High Father and New Genesis and a father of Orion. But his road to becoming the New God was changed drastically compared to Jack Kirby's introduction way back in a day.

While his origin wasn't introduced to us during his initial introduction, it was revealed in Justice League Vol. 2#23.1by Greg Pak. Because most New 52 titles went hand in hand and were releasing the same issues every month consistently, until final issue #52, DC decided to include these prequel issues where they will stop focusing on the plot with the release of the issues, and focus on origins of certain characters. For example, New 52's Flash 23.1 served as introduction to Gorilla Grodd. issue 23.2 provided origin for Reverse Flash, and issue 23.3 focused on the Rogues, even tho the plot of the title at the time focused on Flash vs. Daniel West.

=================================================================================

This issue did exactly that, but it focused on Darkseid completely, not being connected to current (at the time) ongoing stories in the Justice League title. What we learned in this issue is that Darkseid was originally a man named Uxas, and unlike his Pre-Flashpoint counterpart, he wasn't always the New God. Instead, he was a mortal and a farmer who struggled to survive with his sister and his brother in law. And all of them were at the mercy of the Old Gods, and while other mortals prayed to the Old Gods and were grateful when they didn't kill them, Uxas hated the Old Gods for not only "not giving a shit about them", but for accidentally killing the mortals and making fun of it once they realized it.

In order to get rid of them, he manipulated the Old Gods, influencing them in their sleep and making them not trust one another, starting the war between all of the Old Gods. Most Old Gods caused a lot of damage to one another, weakening them and allowing Uxas to kill them. Once he killed all of them, Uxas absorbed their Life Force, becoming the first New God, Darkseid. While his sister in law died in that conflict, Uxas' brother in law encountered one of the Old Gods, who gave his powers to him. And thus, he became Highfather and challenged Darkseid, fighting him to a standstill and trying to convince him to "stop this" madness.

For full introduction to Darkseid's origin, click here.

Darkseid and Highfather fought for seven entire days, which cost the life of an entire planet and several lives. Highfather became the ruler of New Genesis, and Darkseid became the ruler of Apokolips. Ruling it with an iron fist, he went into the Multiverse, seeking to conquer it and control it. He also searched for Anti-Life Equation, which will allow him to erase the concept of will from existence and control all life, while the New Gods sought Life Equation (although, Anti Life wasn't as nearly as focused on or as explored as it was Pre-Flashpoint, nor did Darkseid often reference or or sought it on panel as nearly as much as his Pre-Flashpoint version did). - Green Lantern/New Gods: Godhead #1.

Darkseid spent centuries traveling across the Multiverse, conquering and destroying worlds, playing a lot of roles as a ruler, warrior, tyrant, destroyer, explorer and even a father to several children. At some point, he gave his son, Orion to New Genesis under the request of Metron, in order to avoid a never ending and certainly catastrophic war between New Genesis and Apocalypse.

==================================================================================

However, Infinity Man and the Forever People #5 apparently retcons this information, stating that Darkseid and Highfather, weren't actually brothers in law, but actual brothers and sons of Yuga Khan, who apparently brought back the Old Gods killed by Uxas and started a war with his two sons, Uxas and Izaya (who will later become the Highfather). Uxas killed their father and he and his brother Izaya became the New Gods, although this kinda contradicts his first origin story and leaves a lot of holes. Especially Yuga Khan being in the possession of the Anti Life Equation. Regardless, Darkseid and Highfather started a war later.

However, this information was apparently retconned again by Geoff Johns, who later revealed that Mobius, the Anti Monitor, was actually in the possession of the Anti Life Equation all along, which actually turned him into the Anti God, all without Darkseid's knowledge. - Justice League Vol. 2 #44.

============================================================================

At some point, Metron, the Omniscient owner of the Mobius Chair, decided to end the conflict between New Genesis and Apokolips, by making a deal with Darkseid and Highfather to trade their sons, allowing them to move to opposite sides of their respective fathers and start peace. Darkseid agreed, and after a lot of convincing, even Highfather did, and Darkseid, who had many sons, sent his young son, Orion to live on New Genesis, while Highfather picked his youngest son, who would later be known as Mister Miracle - Justice League Vol. 2 #40.

============================================================================

Eventually, Darkseid figured out about the existence of Earth, and Superman (Earth 2 Universe to be more precise). He acknowledged Superman's power, and that power has to belong to Darkseid. He sent Steppenwolf and an army of Parademons to attack Earth 2. While his plan to conquer that world failed, it's world's version of Batman and Wonder Woman died, and Superman was considered to be dead as well, but was actually kept in Desaad's lair, which allowed him to create evil Superman clone, Brutaal, who possessed the power of the Omega Effect. Brutaal led Darkseid's forces along with Steppenwolf yet again, when they tried to conquer the Earth for the second time. While it was believed that Brutaal actually was the original Earth 2 Superman people knew, this was proven to be false when he was destroyed in a fight with New Heroes of Earth 2. Darkseid had enough and sent his Furies and Desaad to finally conquer Earth 2. He faced heroes of Earth 2 himself, easily beating them until Alan Scott unlocked his full power and overpowered him. Regardless, most most of Earth 2's population were killed by Darkseid and his forces, and while New Wonders were able to safe a noticeable amount of Earth 2's population and escape Darkseid, the Dark God finally conquered the Earth 2, allowing Apokolips to consume it and stabilize itself.

Darkseid encountered Prime Earth's/Main DC Continuity heroes and their Justice League. Sending their Parademons to open up a Boom Tube, Darkseid eventually entered Earth's dimension and came to face New 52 Justice League and almost capturing Superman. With the help of Batman, he escaped Desaad and faced Darkseid, who overpowered the Justice League. However, with the combined forces of the team, they pushed the Dark God into a Boom Tube created by Cyborg, ending the threat, at least for now (ironically, the appearance of Mother Boxes is actually what brought Justice League members together for the first time.

Darkseid eventually came into a conflict with Mobius and his forces on Earth, who wanted to kill Darkseid and obtain his power, in order to finally rid himself of the burden of being the Anti-Monitor. This was all the plan of Grail, Darkseid's half Amazonian daughter, who manipulated him and Mobius in order for her to obtain the power of the Anti Life for herself. Mobius finally killed Darkseid and removed the Anti Life Equation from himself, which came into the possession of Grail and caused serious of events that turned almost all members of the Justice League into Gods, and even after losing the power of the Omega Effect, Lex Luthor still had control over Apokolips after freeing it from Darkseid's tyranny. Mobius was defeated with the combined efforts of Green Lantern Corp and Lex Luthor with Darkseid's power, but Grail brought her father back to life and used him to attack the Justice League, thanks to the power of Anti Life. After her mother sacrificed herself to prove Grail that she does not have to be evil, Grail tried to find a way to feel love for his father, who she kept safe when he took the form of a baby. Several months later, Grail realized that her father required energy of the Old Gods which originally turned him into Darkseid, and she kept killing several of Zeus' children on Earth and stored their energy into a Mother Box, and then allowing her father to consume that energy to become older and more powerful. After killing several of of Zeus' children and obtaining the form of a young adult, Darkseid teamed up with Wonder Woman's brother to take her own power, and while he would later betray Darkseid, Uxas was confronted by Zeus himself. They fought to a standstill until Uxas absorbed his life force, fully becoming Darkseid and trying to find a way to go back to Apokolips while hiding on Earth. He encountered Wonder Woman in battle for the second time, but his plans were dwarfed yet again, and he lost the powers of the Gods he absorbed, losing his own power and apparently, not remembering who he is, with his daughter Grail ending up being imprisoned with Ares, still believing her father will come and rescue her. What happens to Darkseid now or what will happen to him has yet to be revealed.

For more information of the events from above, read Darkseid War & Wonder Woman's Rebirth run.

Powers, Abilities & Equipment

Just like his Pre-Flashpoint counterpart, New 52/Rebirth Darkseid has powers of the Omega Effect. However, like I said before, Omega Effect wasn't as established and explained in detail as it was Pre-Flashpoint, and it isn't 100% unknown if he gained access to it after absorbing the power of the Old Gods or if he gained it in similar way his Pre-Flashpoint counterpart did (Lex Luthor obtained the power of the Omega Effect in similar fashion as Kirby's Darkseid), or if Omega Effect has anything to do with the Old Gods in the first place. Regardless, he does have some powers his Pre-Flashpoint counterpart does not have, but while he is apparently physically superior, he lacks versatility and hax his Pre-Flashpoint counterpart had with his Omega Effect. Regardless, powers and abilities Uxas obtained after becoming the New God are the following:

  • Superhuman Strength
  • Superhuman Reflexes
  • Superhuman Durability
  • Unlimited Stamina
  • Healing Factor/Regeneration
  • Immortality & Self-Sustenance
  • Omega Effect
  • Omega Beam Projection
  • Energy Projection
  • Flight/Levitation
  • Size Alteration
  • Cosmic Awareness
  • Dimension Travel/Teleportation
  • Boom Tube Projection
  • Death Manipulation
  • Apokolips Empowerment
  • Godly Empowerment
  • Life Force/Energy Absorption

  • Genius Level Intellect
  • H2H Combat Skill
  • Armed Combat Skill
  • Leadership & Tactician
  • Intimidation & Manipulation

  • Apokoliptian Armor
  • Boom Tube
  • Mother Box
  • Scythe (formerly)
  • Shield (formerly)

Apparently Darkseid was so powerful, he was able to fight planets (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #37):

No Caption Provided

It has been stated by Mister Miracle that Darkseid failed to conquer a world only once, that being Prime Earth Universe's planet Earth during his encounter with the Justice League, which does show how powerful and capable Darkseid is both as a ruler, warrior and a God (Justice League Vol. 2 #41):

No Caption Provided

He also said he can't beat Darkseid even with help of Fury and Boom Spheres (Earth 2 World's End #11):

No Caption Provided

It took the entire Justice League to fight against him (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #36):

No Caption Provided

Diana called Darkseid the most powerful and evil entity in existence, along with the Anti Monitor, and in the same issue, when Uxas and Mobius fought, they didn't even notice the presence of the Justice League even tho they were only several feet away from them, which showcases their power (Justice League Vol. 2 #44):

His reputation proceeds him as well (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #31):

No Caption Provided

Hell, it has even been stated that Darkseid is capable of destroying the entire Universe, and that he has actually done so in the past. This may be hyperbolic but it still showcases his power (Constantine #22):

No Caption Provided

John Constantine couldn't even stop him without gaining power from outside source (Constantine #23):

And he still couldn't come close to stopping Darkseid and could barely fight him and still failed. Just the mere experience of the confrontation caused him extreme amounts of pain and agony, crushing every cell in his body and ridding him of every moment of happiness, comfort, love, pleasure and hope. He ended up getting knocked out, and after the fight he was completely drained. He only survived because Darkseid spared him.

Physical Capabilities (Strength, Speed, Durability...)

Instead of separating each of these categories into their own section, I decided to make one section for all of the physical categories. I will include all of Darkseid's other abilities under a single section later as well.

No Caption Provided

He was also able to stagger Zeus with a single blow, in the same issue.

No Caption Provided

Grail, who is weaker than Darkseid, was able to tear Cyborg's armor apart with her bare hands with ease, get electrocuted by Shazam and thrown backwards by him without taking damage, temporary tank attacks from Hal Jordan until she weakened his will (Uxas can't do that) and stomp Jessica Cruz (Justice League Vol. 2 #41):

She could also make Diana bleed with a punch and send her fly few feet away (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #34):

No Caption Provided

Staggers Mister Miracle with a casual blow (Earth 2 World's End #11):

No Caption Provided

Punches Hell Bat Batman several feet away, putting him on his knees (Batman and Robin Vol. 2 #37):

No Caption Provided

As a young adult, without even coming close to his full power, Darkseid was able to shrug off the first blow from Zeus (I won't be posting scans that show Darkseid being completely fine without the punch, but you can check it out yourself) and tanked the other one with some damage (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #37):

Carries Mister Miracle around after he failed to beat his step father (Earth 2 World's End #11):

No Caption Provided

Curbstomps Val Zod, knocking him out and slaps Power Girl away (Earth 2 World's End #25):

Throws defeated Val Zod away and proceeds by making Power Girl bleed and cause her a lot of pain with a simple pimp slap. Then when Val Zod comes back and grabs Darkseid from behind, Uxas gives him a headbutt, grabs him, and one-shots him by slamming him into the ground (Earth 2 World's End #25):

Pimp slaps Val Zod right after recovering from Alan Scott's fully powered blow (Earth 2 World's End #26):

No Caption Provided

Grail was able to tank an lightning blast from Big Barda's weapon (Justice League Vol. 2 #50):

No Caption Provided

Vision of an Amazonian warrior shows Darkseid going toe to toe with the Anti God Mobius, the Anti Monitor, an event that will actually take place in Darkseid War (Free Comic Book Day (2015) - Divergence):

No Caption Provided

And like I showed in the history section, Darkseid fought on par with Highfather for seven days and seven nights, a fight that caused the destruction of the entire world (Green Lanterns/New Gods: Godhead #1):

No Caption Provided

Uxas was also able to casually overpower Wonder Woman's grip over him with her lasso, even tho she was chocking him and he got attacked by other JLA members, and he still didn't care (Justice League Vol. 2 #6):

No Caption Provided

Casually overpowers Superman in arm wrestling and holds him helpless, and even overpowers Hal Jordan's construct intended to break Darkseid's grip over Clark, which he still couldn't do even after Uxas was attacked by other Justice League members (Justice League Vol. 2 #6).

This was shown in several flashback sequences as well, like in Justice League Vol. 2 #51, Batman/Superman Annual #2, Green Lantern/New Guardians #36 & Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1.

Goes to-to-toe with the Anti Monitor, in present this time (Justice League Vol. 2 #43):

No-sells Mister Miracle's energy disk (Justice League Vol. 2 #41):

No Caption Provided

Tanks a punch from Superman (Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1):

No Caption Provided

Tanks a beating from the Justice League in flachback sequence. The reason why I'm posting this is because Superman is here as well, and he wasn't there at the time when the Justice League was attacking Darkseid at once. Whether you consider this to be a retcon or continuity error is on you (Justice League Vol. 2#23):

No Caption Provided

Grail could also tank this from Wonder Woman with no damage (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #34):

No Caption Provided

Lex with portion of Uxas' power tanked phasing attack from Anti Matter demons (Justice League Vol. 1 #49):

No Caption Provided

He also tanked multiple blows from Mobius in the same issue in his regular non Anti Monitor form, and while Lex was apparently about to die, those were mostly sucker punches (Justice League Vol. 1 #49):

No Caption Provided

Tanks attacks from Hell Bat Batman throughout the issue with no effect (Batman and Robin Vol. 2 #37):

No sells a blitz to the chest from New 52 Superman (Justice League Vol. 2 #6). This was shown in several flashbacks as well, like in Justice League Vol. 2 #51 & Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1.

As a young adult, with only a portion of his full power, he shrugged off Diana's blow (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #37):

No Caption Provided

Doesn't even feel a point blank explosion caused by Boom Spheres capable of destroying an Apokolips force field, which is so durable, not even Darkseid himself can't escape from it (Earth 2 World's End #10):

Tanks attacks from Red Tornado Lois Lane and Earth 2 Power Girl (Earth 2 World's End #26):

Alan Scott with the power of all Earth Avatars couldn't hurt Darkseid with a punch/blast (Earth 2 World's End #26):

No Caption Provided

Isn't hurt by Justice League members and Diana choking him with lasso (Justice League Vol. 2 #6):

No Caption Provided

Tanks few blows from Wonder Woman (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #44):

No Caption Provided

In the next issue, Diana cut Darkseid with her sword and broke his finger and the guy did not make a single reaction. She also punched him in the face with her leg and he no-sold it (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #45):

No Caption Provided

Grail, who is weaker than Darkseid, didn't care after getting slammed by Kalibak (Justice League Vol. 2 #44):

No Caption Provided

Doesn't even feel attacks from combined power of JL and New Gods (Justice League Vol. 2 #50):

No Caption Provided

Tanks a punch from Wonder Woman (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #44):

No Caption Provided

Does the same thing again, in the same exact issue.

No Caption Provided

Tanks the energy of a Boom Tube sending him back to Apokolips (Justice League Vol. 2 #6):

No Caption Provided

He was 100% fine afterward, as seen in Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1,which showed us what happened after.

No Caption Provided

Darkseid also tanked planetary explosion during his fight with Highfather (Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1):

No Caption Provided

Probably the most impressive showing of Darkseid's durability so far. He tanked a sucker punch/blitz from Fully Powered Alan Scott with power of all of Earth's Avatars and full connection to all of Multiversal Green. He didn't care after getting hit, and then, he was hit by Alan Scott who finally unleashed everything he had and hit Darkseid with the force of all planet Earths in the Multiverse (only 7 are shown on panel). While Darkseid was knocked out, he was shown seconds/minutes later, being 100% fine (Earth 2 World's End #26):

Versatility & Hax (Omega Beams, Black Racer, Empowerment...)

Darkseid (obviously) has a Healing Factor. However, he actually showcased this on panel. Ironically, the only two times he did the exact same thing with it. Regrow his destroyed eye(s). He did this in Justice League Vol. 2 #6, when Wonder Woman and Aquaman stabbed him to the eyes with their sword and trident. He didn't care that much and ended up pulling them out with both of his eyes back.

The other time he did this was when he faced Earth 2 heroes. In the middle of the issue, Power Girl tore his eye part, and he didn't have it at all even until the very end of the issue (Earth 2 World's End #25):

But then later, during the very start of the next issue, which takes place literally seconds after the end of the previous issue, Darkseid is shown with both of his eyes fully healed and functional (Earth 2 World's End #26):

No Caption Provided

===================================================================================

Now let's get into feats of Darkseid's trademark move, Omega Beams, red glowing beams of energy and light projected from his eyes, which he uses offensively. He can bend them around and manipulate them the way he sees fit. He can also lock on to target with them in order for them to track the target without Darkseid influencing them, similar to homing missiles.

He has fun turning a bunch of people into ash (Justice League Vol. 2 #6):

No Caption Provided

His Omega Beams can stalemate Superman's Heat Vision (Justice League Vol. 2 #50):

No Caption Provided

Even Alan Scott at absolute peak of his power struggles to block them (Earth 2 World's End #26):

No Caption Provided

Kills a bunch of Parademons who fight one another (Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1):

No Caption Provided

Damages the Anti-Monitor (Free Comic Book Day (2015) - Divergence):

No Caption Provided

Grail, who is much weaker than Darkseid, knocks Metron off of Mobius chair (Justice League Vol. 2 #40):

Grail could also do this, after being only few hours old (Justice League: The Darkside War - Special #1):

No Caption Provided

She used to constantly kill people who would become their allies on accident as well, when she was a child, leaving nothing but their bones and dust (Justice League: The Darkside War - Special #1):

No Caption Provided

Darkseid can also transmutate his targets (Action Comics Vol. 1 #970):

He can manipulate them in order to track Power Girl (Earth 2 World's End #26):

He can fire them in strait line too (Earth 2 World's End #26):

No Caption Provided

He can also stop his Omega Beams from moving mid flight, and even make them disappear completely, without even hitting the target, meaning he has complete control over them (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #41):

Darkseid can also project the Omega Effect through his arms in the form of energy blast or concussive omni-directional attack. Like when he lightened up his fist, punched into the ground and created red glowing attack that pushed Aquaman and Hal Jordan backwards and destroy his construct (Justice League Vol. 2 #5):

After being brought back to life by Grail, he could project incredibly wide beams (Justice League Vol. 2 #50):

No Caption Provided

In the same issue, he was also able to combine them to project one wide and big Omega Beam.

No Caption Provided

Uxas can also manipulate the very energies of the Omega Effect itself even when it's more removed from him, as seen when he was about to take control of the Boom Spheres just because they absorbed his Omega Beams, and therefor contained the Omega Effect (Earth 2 World's End #11):

No Caption Provided

He can fire them fast enough to tag speeding plane and destroy it (Earth 2 World's End #14):

No Caption Provided

He is pretty accurate too. He used both of his Omega Beams to hit Mister Miracle into both of his legs and pierce through them, incapacitating him and preventing him from escaping (Justice League Vol. 2 #41):

No Caption Provided

Without even coming close to his full power and being in a form of an old teenager or a young adult, he was still able to stagger Wonder Woman and make her fall on the ground (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #36):

He can stagger Power Girl and one-shot Red Tornado Lois Lane (Earth 2 World's End #25):

Almost kills Alan Scott with power of all of Earth's Avatars and connection to Multiversal Green (although he wasn't at his absolute full power) with just a single blast, one-shots Red Tornado Lois Lane without even a direct hit and has some fun destroying Earth's space ship (Earth 2 World's End #26):

One-shots a military plane (Justice League Vol. 2 #5):

No Caption Provided

Causes a lot of pain to the Anti-Monitor, although Mobius was already damaged (Justice League Vol. 2 #44):

No Caption Provided

Only with a portion of Darkseid's power, Lex Luthor could project Omega Beams (Justice League Vol. 1 #49):

No Caption Provided

They were powerful enough to stalemate Mobius' (not as Anti-Monitor) blasts (Justice League Vol. 1 #49):

No Caption Provided

He also created large wave of energy and lightning that pushed Superman away (Justice League Vol. 2 #50):

No Caption Provided

Darkseid can also cover his opponents with Omega Effect completely, like he did it to Diana, claiming that even in this way weaker form of his, he is still more powerful than her (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #36):

No Caption Provided

This same Darkseid made Zeus fall on his knees with the Omega Beams (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #37):

No Caption Provided

Reduces the entire mountain into nothing (Earth 2 World's End #26):

No Caption Provided

Grail, who is way weaker than her father, destroyed Diana's bracelets (Justice League Vol. 2 #41):

She was also able to blind Kalibak with them (Justice League Vol. 2 #44):

No Caption Provided

She also cleaved through Diana's skin pretty easily (Justice League Vol. 2 #44):

No Caption Provided

She also transmutated Crime Syndicate/Earth 3 Lois Lane (Justice League Vol. 1 #50):

No Caption Provided

Has a lot of fun transmutating people, and despite the looks, this is Post-Flashpoint (Darkseid Special #1):

Kills more people (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #41 & Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #43):

Even as a baby, Darkseid is capable of either, projecting one pretty wide Omega Beam, or unleash a barrage of Omega Beams at once (I'm not completely sure which one he did here) in order to kill a soldier and completely destroy half of his body, all before he can pull the trigger (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #33):

No Caption Provided

As a young adult, he was able to destroy a huge part of the building in order to distract Diana with saving civilians, preventing her from helping her father Zeus in battle against Uxas (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #37):

No Caption Provided

Darkseid always fires two Omega Beams at the same time, both being fired from his left and right eye respectively. However, he can control or lock on these two Omega Beams in different way or project them in different directions despite the fact that he shot them at the same time. He did this when he looked at both Superman and Barry Allen running away from him. They were able to lock on to them and change shape and direction in order to prevent them from dodging them, and even tho they were moving in different ways, with Clark going upwards by flying, one of the Omega Beams kept following Clark even tho it didn't lock out of Barry, who was on the ground. Barry was able to get rid of his problem, but the other tagged Clark, busted a hole through him (partially) and one-shotted him. This also shows how fast they are because they eventually tagged Clark and even Barry barely shook them through, although this is younger Barry (Justice League Vol. 2 #5):

One-shotting Clark was also showcased in Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1

No Caption Provided

Destroys a planet from far away right after obtaining his powers (Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1):

Destroys a planet he was fighting on against Highfather by creating planet sized energy blast of Omega Effect, which is impressive because he wasn't even targeting the planet itself (Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1):

No Caption Provided

This could be a shared feat, but they still destroyed it just by fighting, without target the actual planet.

=========================================================================================

This Darkseid can fly and levitate, as he showed in Earth 2 World's End #11 (twice), Earth 2 World's End #26 and I'm pretty sure he did it in a handful of other issues too, although I don't remember all of them.

Lex with the Omega Effect also showed the ability to fly (Justice League: The Darkseid War - Lex Luthor):

No Caption Provided

============================================================================================

Darkseid can also project energy blasts that are not related to the Omega Effect/Beams. Most of them are omni-directional tho. He used one to kill a bunch of people (Earth 2 World's End #26):

No Caption Provided

Darkseid also one-shotted the entire Justice League team with it and left them knocked out for few minutes. This is actually New 52 Darkseid's very first feat during his entire publication (Justice League Vol. 2 #4-5):

Lex with Darkseid's power apparently had pyrokinesis (Justice League: The Darkseid War - Lex Luthor):

No Caption Provided

In the same issue, while he was falling, Lex was able to project Omega Effect around himself to create an omni directional energy blast that took the form of the Omega Symbol and fly away to safety.

============================================================================

Darkseid can also influence the minds of others. He did this to John Constantine (Constantine #23):

A portion of Darkseid's power gave Lex complete control over Parademons (Justice League Vol. 1 #49):

No Caption Provided

Darkseid can also directly influence minds of other beings and control them from Apokolips while they are on Earth. He was able to project himself into Grail's dream, wake her up and make her attack her mother with Omega Beams. Although it is possible that Darkseid was able to do something like this just because she is his daughter and has his entire power set (Justice League: The Darkside War - Special #1):

He is also capable of communicating with his daughter Grail telepathically, and even as a baby, he is intelligent enough to explain to her that he needs Life Force of Old Gods (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #33):

=====================================================================================

Darkseid can also change his size to make himself way larger (possibly increase his strength but this has never been confirmed). He can make himself comparable to Anti-Monitor in size (Justice League Vol. 1 #43):

No Caption Provided

He can also become a giant, while he is usually just twice as tall as an average human (Constantine #23):

No Caption Provided

He was also incredibly large when Grail resurrected him (Justice League Vol. 2 #50):

No Caption Provided

=================================================================================

Darkseid can also hop/jump through dimensions with his Omega Beams (Justice League Vol. 2 #23.1):

He is also capable of opening portals (possible Boom Tubes) under his own power without outside assistance, and is capable of tracking even John Constantine's energy while he teleports across dimensions. He can also change his size and make only his hand move through the portal Darkseid himself created, which apparently has it's own gravitational pull capable of pulling humans towards it (Constantine #22):

Apparently Darkseid's hand in this state gains few characteristics similar to a Black Hole (Constantine #23):

No Caption Provided

He can also fully gain access to our reality (Constantine #23):

No Caption Provided

Grail and Darkseid himself as a 12-year old can sense Zeus' Live Force (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #33):

No Caption Provided

Even as young adult, he was able to open a boom tube by himself (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #37):

====================================================================================

Darkseid has a unique and quite useful ability to summon the Black Racer to aid him in battle, and control the Death entity almost completely. He used it against the Anti-Monitor when he got desperate, and Racer gave him a clear edge in his fight against Mobius, even dodging multiple attacks from the Anti-God, blitzing him, giving Uxas the opening and causing a lot of damage to the Anti-Monitor (Justice League Vol. 2 #44):

===================================================================================

Outside of empowering himself with the energies of the Old Gods he has killed to become Darkseid, Uxas can also drain energies of the planet Apokolips itself to empower himself. He does this by entering in a force field somewhere in Apokolips and sits there waiting to gain all the energy. The downside to it tho is that he remains trapped inside the force field, and he can't break free without outside assistance (Earth 2 World's End #11):

No Caption Provided

He can also consume a Universe and Universe's energy apparently, but details of this ability have never been properly explained or established (Constantine #23):

No Caption Provided

However, after Rebirth relaunch, Darkseid showcased a special ability to absorb the Life Force from the remaining Old Gods, like Zeus' children on Earth. This probably has something to do with the fact that Darkseid and Highfather both originally became the New Gods by absorbing the power of the Old Gods, although this is just an assumption and wasn't flat out stated, although I don't think it's illogical headcanon. Darkseid used this ability to restore his age and power after he was reduced to a baby by the Anti-Life Equation, and originally showcased this ability Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #31, although originally he couldn't drain the Life Force from Old Gods themselves and had to have Grail kill them, absorb their energy into a Mother Box and give it to Darkseid to drink up.

This was confirmed by Grail (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #33):

No Caption Provided

Later he drained Life Force from God Warrior Perseus, which Grail got from him as well and put into the Mother Box, which made him few years older (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #33):

He/they absorbed the Live Force from a lot of Zeus' children, which made Darkseid a 12-year old over the course of only few months (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #33):

When he reached the age of a young adult, he was able to absorb the Live Force from others without Grail's or Mother Box's assistance, as showcased when he was about to drain Wonder Woman's Life Force by himself, although he only did it partially because her brother, Jason, stopped Darkseid. And Diana still looked extremely drained afterwards (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #36):

To give you an idea how badly it was, here's a scan from next issue showing how Diana looked.

No Caption Provided

Darkseid also completely drained Zeus himself, finally regaining his full power (Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #37):

==================================================================================

Fights (Wins, Loses, Stalemates...)

This section will be pretty short because there is not a lot of stuff to talk about. I will just list all the fights Darkseid had during his entire Post-Flashpoint publication and include all the info necessary, including issue numbers. However, I will not bring up any context or detailed explanation on the fights so if you don't know about the context (if any) or you don't understand something and you want to know exactly what happened, you will either have to read the issues yourself or simple ask me a question. For the record, I won't be including his fight against Constantine because 1) it wasn't a strait up fight, and 2) I already showed it above and you will find it under "Powers, Abilities, Equipment" section. Highfather fights are too short to be included here as well.

Without further delay, let's get into it...

versus The Justice League - Justice League Vol. 2 #6

versus Earth 2 Heroes/Kryptonians - Earth 2: World's End #25

versus Alan Scott & Earth 2 Heroes - Earth 2: World's End #26

versus Hell-Bat Batman - Batman and Robin Vol. 2 #37

versus Mobius/Anti-Monitor - Justice League Vol. 2 #43-45

versus Zeus - Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #36-37

versus Wonder Woman: Round 1 - Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #43-44

versus Wonder Woman: Round 2 - Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #45

=======================================================================================

That's it for this section. Like I said, not too detailed. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Summary

Usually when I finish making a respect thread, I make a quick rundown of his feats and try to explain how powerful a character I just represented is as objectively as I can. However, because Darkseid is an extremely controversial character who has a lot of good feats, but tends to job a lot, something even this version does, I decided to just not do that here and let you guys decide how powerful he is. A lot of Darkseid's feats come from showing against other characters too, as you can clearly see it yourself. Some of them are probably hard to quantify because as you can tell, I never actually bothered to explain how powerful these characters are when I posted Uxas' showing against them. That's because this is Darkseid's own respect thread and I don't want to spend a lot of time explaining how strong other characters are, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Regardless, based on In Universe logic and how powerful Darkseid is based on not tier system but his established power, he is one of the greatest and most feared forces in the Universe, being more powerful than most heroes in New 52 DC Comics, being defeated only by Mobius with the power of the Anti Life Equation, Flash and Black Racer and fully powered and amped Alan Scott, who still couldn't truly defeat him. He possesses the power of Old Gods, Omega Effect and Black Racer and was able to completely overwhelm amped John Constantine, overpower the Justice League, easily beat a group of heroes and almost kill Alan Scott, destroy a world, drain Life Force from Old Gods, travel through dimensions, do a bunch of crazy things and fight on par with the likes of Alan Scott, Highfather, Anti-Monitor and Zeus.

So that's about it for this Respect Thread. I hope you enjoyed it and I will probably make a respect thread for Pre-Crisis/Post-Crisis Darkseid as well, although it won't happen any time soon. Thanks for reading :)

Ehhh ... you already know my opinions on Post Flashpoint Darkseid,, which is less than okay.

Nice formatting though and with citations too!

I enjoyed Darkseid Special (Although I'm not sure whether said issue is actually Post Flashpoint continuity since different design) and the Villains Month one-shot. Showed Darkseid's schemer and ruler side.

Don't know If Tom King's Mister Miracle counts as Post Flashpoint continuity.

@cull_obsidian I think you wanted me to tag you when I finish this so here it is. I will make a Respect Thread for Pre-Flashpoint (Pre and Post-Crisis) version as well, at some point.

@kevd4wg@the_badman@wollfmyth209@destinyman75@battle123axe@thewatcherking@mutant1230@lanternbatman@andromeda101@blackspidey2099 Thanks guys. Glad you liked it.

@ursaber I prefer Pre-Flashpoint version over this one but yeah, he is pretty cool. Too bad they don't use him very effective these days.

@supergoku17 So I take it you prefer Post-Flashpoint/New 52/Rebirth version? Or just like his introduction before the Crisis?

@life_without_progress Thanks, and I see where you are going with it. I prefer Pre-Flashpoint version myself. And yeah, I always like to include citations. Without them, how do I know you/he read the issues and knows the context? Or even more important, they should be included in case the readers want to read the issues themselves. As for Mister Miracle, it seems like they are just adding characteristics from Pre-Flashpoint universe into current continuity, even tho most of them aren't explained like with the Flash and Superman.

@life_without_progress: @krleavenger: Mister Miracle's story seems to be pretty much the same as his Post-Crisis story with the exception of trading him and Orion being at an older age as opposed to as infants.

In Pre Flashpoint, I disliked the concept of "Boss" Darkseid of Intergang. So that has to be one of the few times I didn't like him.

But, in essence, in all his prominent incarnations, New Earth, Prime Earth, he remains the same super wickedly cool Dark God. And his redesign in Prime Earth is, IMO, much cooler than Pre Flashpoint.

@ursaber I prefer classic look due to nostalgia but objectively speaking, his New 52 look is probably better and I see why you prefer that.

@supergoku17 I see.

@the_badman I guess it makes sense given everything else they do with Rebirth.

@blackpantherisb: Draining population of Earth 3 planet Earth of life force to empower himself. He also had multiple feats after his fight with Darkseid when he was cured of Anti Life, but they were mostly lackluster or unquantifiable. Overall, New 52 Mobius is lackluster and overhyped, just like his Pre-Flashpoint counterpart.

@krleavenger: Yeah, I guess Mobius also has his feat of killing Ultraman, which is semi-impressive since Ultraman no sold attacks from Parallax Sinestro, but regardless he wasn't very powerful based on feats. Which is a bit of a bummer considering how much hype he received leading up to the final battle.

Also throughout the thread, you reference Grail as being significantly weaker than Darkseid, is there any direct showing that leads you to this conclusion?

@blackpantherisb: It was never really stated anywhere, but it seems kinda logical. Grail needed Mobius to kill Darkseid and while that was more because she wanted Anti Life from him, she also needed Darkseid himself to kill thr Justice League. She was also his servant in Wonder Woman's Rebirth run and was mostly introduced as an opponent who is more of a Diana tier fighter (albeit superior) while Uxas is more of a threat to the entire Team. It may be unprofessional on my part from debating perspective, but from writer's perspective, I doubt they would have Grail as Darkseid's equal or superior in strength, durability and Omega Beams. She is definitely faster and more skilled tho.

@dcandmarvelcomicfan: New 52 is a legit teambuster on the level of Despero, Thanos, Amazo etc. Post Crisis Darkseid was more or less Superman's equal and has way too low showings than good ones.

The only thing i would debate is Grail's Omega beam power compared to Darkseid's. She was able to shatter Diana's bracelets when Darkseid has never been able to, as well as blow Metron off the Mobius Chair. She may be in the same boat as Aquaman and Jon Kent, getting those heterosis benefits of crossbred parentage
