EDIT

It's actually SEVENTEEN titles!

The covers and solicitations for DC Comics' March 2015 titles are out. This is also the final month before CONVERGENCE begins (and DC moves their east coast office to Burbank). What's a little surprising in the solicits are the number of titles that are ending.

No Caption Provided

Some of the titles that are ending aren't a surprise. We've known the following weekly series would be ending in March:

  • BATMAN ETERNAL

  • THE NEW 52: FUTURES END

  • EARTH 2: WORLD’S END

What's more of a surprise, in most cases, is the following regular series are also coming to an end:

  • AQUAMAN AND THE OTHERS

  • KLARION

  • SECRET ORIGINS

  • STAR-SPANGLED WAR STORIES FEATURING G.I. ZOMBIE

  • TRINITY OF SIN

  • WORLDS’ FINEST

  • ARKHAM MANOR

  • BATWOMAN

  • GREEN LANTERN CORPS

  • GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS

  • RED LANTERNS

  • SWAMP THING

  • INFINITY MAN AND THE FOREVER PEOPLE

Some of these are part of the original 2011 New 52 line up. Others, just couldn't find their groove.

There's also another series ending:

  • INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US YEAR THREE

INJUSTICE will hopefully give way to a YEAR FOUR series. What about the rest? What's going on in the Green Lantern universe? All but the core GREEN LANTERN series are ending. Does this mean something big is coming in the next few months? It's a shame about SWAMP THING. We've wondered what would happen after Charles Soule left to be exclusive at Marvel. What about Batwoman? Where will she go next?

After the two-month long Convergence event, we could assume new titles will pop up. Hopefully some of these will simply relaunch with a new direction or something.

What are your thoughts on these titles? Were you surprised by any of these final issues? You can read the solicit text for the issues HERE.

Whoa! The green lantern titles surprise me. But i imagine people are getting sick of buying 5 books when they want to read one story. That's why i stopped reading green lantern.

I'm wondering what was the point of printing Klarion in the first place, not many people were asking for it and it was written by Ann Nocenti.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the Green Lantern Universe, I hope they don't end up putting John Stewart, Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner all in the same book.

Why is Red Hood and the Outlaws still cooking? There are much better books that are being canceled and have sold more.

Prediction: DC will relaunch Birds of Prey with Batwoman on the team (I hope as their leader). I think Green Lantern will get spun out into a bi-monthly or weekly title to incorporate the other characters from that line.

Klarion lasted less issues than Green Team. Damn!

Also sad about Batwoman but honestly after the original team left the book just did not have enough spark. Plus the vampire plot was just meh and felt tired.

they already announced the weekly series will all end next year, im actually disappointed that futures end and batman eternal will finally wrap. every wednesday i've looked forward to reading these two titles.

As for Batwoman and Swamp Thing, why would they end these? i know batwoman has been a new series since 2011 but swamp thing? why? hopefully they start a new swamp thing series. i'd hate to seem him just disappear.

Considering there is a rumor going around about a June mini-relaunch I think it is a very logical move.

  • AQUAMAN AND THE OTHERS

  • KLARION

  • SECRET ORIGINS

  • TRINITY OF SIN

  • WORLDS’ FINEST

  • BATWOMAN

  • GREEN LANTERN CORPS

  • GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS

  • RED LANTERNS

  • SWAMP THING

secret origins is kinda obvious and so is klarion, i mean it should have been a mini and that woman should NEVER write another comic EVER. fair well, you will be missed. where will kyle, saint walker and john go now? trinity of sin should definitely not be ending. give it some time to breathe gosh gee. let it have at least a 12-20 issue run. aquaman and the others is excellent. with power girl and huntress in earth 2 now guess they have no use for the book but they would have just focus on the girls on earth 2 in their own book plan and simple. lanterns??? all the good lantern books are cancelled :(. corps has struggled since the new 52 started but it just needs a strong creative team which i dont think it has had since the relaunch. new guardians and red lanterns have been the bomb though. swamp thing was decent but eh guess i'll never get to see that war of the avatars i was hoping for

Swamp Thing had a very successful run. For me it is a very good move on Dc's part, instead of keeping the title around with no direction and with mediocre teams that would probably make it a straight "Which hero or villian Swamp thing will fight this week" they end it on a high note until a better opportunity. Can't be said the same with Batwoman though...

I loved World's Finest until they dumped Hellena and Karen and I loved Batwoman until the shifted artist and tone. I won't really miss what they've become.

@sog7dc: Not really, every 6 months a few books have to go, that's how companies do it. The weekly series and Secret Origins were limited series so it makes sense they are ending. The real surprise is the GL books, which sell very very well.

I want Firestorm, Cyborg, The Atom, Hawkman, Captain Atom, and (if they can do him correctly) Captain Marvel. Also a Gen 13 book would be nice.

Secret Origins I read and TOS but I had a feeling TOS would be short I mean i think we all got the idea during Blight arch and JLD, Phantom Stranger and Pandora books the deal with those three. I didn't really see the point of the TOS to be honest though I've been reading it.

I was reading GL but too many books to follow as others stated, they should just limit it to one book maybe 2 max and yes put a few lanterns in one, the rest in the other. I did like Red Lanterns more than GL though I admit, except for Kyle. I don't care about John to be honest. IMO he's the most boring GL and Simon is moot lol or may as well be.

World's End and N52 Future's End should end since both lead up to Convergence. The rest I don't really read so. I never had interest in Star Spangled or Klarion honestly.

I think Injustice ending is no surprise but still had a great run, plus we're getting MK X and Fables and Batman Arkham anyway...

Batwoman went downhill faster than Peter Parker's life when SpOck showed up.

@captainmarvel4ever: weekly titles ending is no big deal but I count at least 6 titles ending that had great potential to expand the DCU and even titles that are selling well (as you mentioned, the Lantern books. Which is especially frustrating to me because I like those books.). I say DC is bad at comics because they won't give fans titles they ask for and even when they have good ideas they mess them up with bad creative teams or bad editorial mandates.

I'm surprised Klarion lasted this long. Actually I'm surprised that anyone decided to give him a series. And who ever cared about Trinity of Sin anyways? I always thought that was ridiculous.

As much as I love RHATO, I think it's probably on its way out. It's not a very grounded series and a Bat-family member has no place in all the weirdness they get into. Red Hood should get his own spy/ assassin series. At least that's more in his area of expertise.

@captainmarvel4ever:

Then we have different opinions. Nothing to be upset about, we just see things differently. Maybe it's because I write my own comics and I want to write for DC eventually. I see 6 titles up there that I would love to write and believe I could do some really cool stuff with, especially Aquaman and the. Others

I still don't want to see them completely get rid of him. Batwoman is alright, never actually purchased her comic, but i kinda like her due to the fact she's part of the Bat-family.

the other titles weren't really in my usual list of titles.

Yeah... Okay so that's let's see... That's 6 titles DC has cut that I actually was enjoying. Several of them being part of their original "New 52" line-up.... Yeah the fact they're gonna get rid of the New 52 at this point seems all but assured.... Hell they've been CANCELLING more books that they're making!!!

No surprise about the weeklies and Aqua man and the Others,Bat Woman lost it's steam since the original artist left was going to drop it but guess i'll stick with it till the end

Red lanterns got me into the New 52 so it's a sad end for me, kinda feel bad for the writer of Klarion though didn't last long.

Green Lantern corps and New Guardians were always tie in issues for me so i'm not bothered by those but I'm behind on Aqua-man and the Others need to pick the last 4 issues I missed then :/

hopefully we get some awesome new titles at least!

Was Arkham Manor intended to be an ongoing in the first place? Swamp i'll miss...and I liked G.I. Zombie, mostly because it didn't feel like a DC comic...pitch that book to Image or something and it'll find an audience! Nothing too upsetting here for me, though, aside from those few books.
