People often ask about series that are "good jumping on points" for new readers, and when it comes to Marvel's Avengers books, this question tends to be brought up a lot. With so much back story, how can someone new to comics access and enjoy Marvel's Avengers? This is where the Ultimate comics line of books becomes a viable option -- particularly with the release of the first issue only last week, now might be a good time to start reading the Avengers. Marvel recently revealed a preview to their Ultimate Comics: Ultimates #2 featuring the Ultimate versions of Marvel's Avengers cast.
The first issue focuses on the world which is "crumbling around S.H.I.E.L.D. and they are powerless against it." The series is focusing on Thor, Iron Man and Nick Fury who must join together in order to stop the Tomorrow People from destroying everything. In the first issue we caught a glimpse at Captain Britain taking the Tomorrow People head on, and the issue ended on a high note.
Based on the preview, issue #2 picks up where the first left off with Captain Britain going head to head with the Tomorrow People. If you have missed Captain Britain from the regular Marvel Universe, then you might want to check out the alternate Ultimate version of the character in this series as he seems to be a very important part of the story.
Last week we reviewed Marvel's first issue of Ultimate Comics: Ultimates which you can check out here, if you are so inclined and decide for yourself if this is a book you want to dive into The second issue in this all new series from creative team Jonathan Hickman and artist Esad Ribic hits store shelves on September 28th, 2011.
