Following the blockbuster finale of Darth Vader #25, the fan-favorite character begins a new journey in STAR WARS: DOCTOR APHRA #1 - the new ongoing series coming this December! From superstar writer Kieron Gillen (Darth Vader) and fan-favorite artist Kev Walker (Marvel Zombies) comes Marvel's first ongoing series starring an original character created in the comics!

Following her time in the clutches of Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra has barely escaped with her life. If he ever learns of her survival, he'll hunt her to the ends of the galaxy. But for now, it's time for a return to what she does best. With the droids 0-0-0 and BT-1 in tow, she's off in search of rare artifacts from the galactic center to the Outer Rim and everywhere in between. Aphra's got debts to pay after all. Just as long as she can stay one step ahead of the Empire, some Bounty Hunters and just about everyone else in the galaxy!

I do like Aphra a lot. Probably the best new thing from the new star wars cannon comics.

@farkam: the best new character in the new expanded universe continuity of Star Wars. She's a take on a gender bent Indiana Jones, not a Laura Craft though, pretty much she sold operational war Droid 'relics' to criminal overlords instead of donating relics to museums... hence the joke of her selling a relic and not a weapon of war here being a 'low point' for her.

Pretty much Vader hired her to run secret ops behind the Emperor's back to identify who the boy who destroyed the Death Star was. Then she knew too much and was a liability, so he threw her out an airlock. She nearly died but those two evil versions of Artoo and Threepio saved her. Now she needs money but to keep a way lower profile than she used to because Vader assumes she's dead and she want him to continue thinking that.

Wow. So edgy. Take that, Lara Croft!

I assume it is not just me who thinks Aphra is Vaders Han Solo...

Anyways, the point of her character is she's Vader's Indiana Jones. So she has his traits, not any other adventure archologist/grave robber, just twisted to make her lean Dark side (but non force powered)

Well, I was getting the Solo vibe from her since her moral compass is pretty much the same as Han's (apparently), only she was hired by the darkside and not Obi Wan. (Also there is ofc the wookie, the droids, the starship... and massive debts owed to sleazy characters, and damn nearly the same kind of response here as Han pulled off when Jabba tried to lean on Han a little in one of the extra scenes)

This is pretty cool. Not as cool as it would be if Gillen wrote Marvel superheroes again, but still cool.

Also, $4.99 price means I'm definitely not going to pick it up. Thanks, Marvel.

Definitely picking this up in trade, she was one of the best parts of Vaders series.

Honestly Marvel, just drop all the Superhero stuff, and go full Star War.

I'd agree with that but they'd just put Larroca on it, and I despise his art. I'd rather stab my eyeballs with a pencil than look at another one of his panels. It looks like bad fan art next to the Dodson and Immonen books.
