Marvel has revealed plans to expand their universe with the release of their all-new Marvel Universe line. Like the Marvel Ultimates line of books, these new stories will be told outside of the regular Marvel Universe continuity. These new stories will target readers of all ages. The new line will launch with two new series, one focusing on the Marvel Avengers characters and the other on the Spider-Man universe titled MARVEL UNIVERSE: ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #1 and MARVEL UNIVERSE: THE AVENGERS: EARTH'S MIGHTIEST HEROES #1.

So when you see the name Marvel Universe, you’ll know it stands for the best all-ages super hero storytelling in the world—in print and digital media!

I am glad to see Marvel are making more kid friendly books. That way we can see kids get interested in comics. I might even pick up Ultimate Spider-man if I like the cartoon.

Marvel Universe Ultimate Spider-man, i can see there being some confusion there with the other ultimate spider-man, especially if not so comic savvy parents are picking this up for their kids, or even if the kids themselves are getting it....

I'll pass.

Now if they start a series based on Wolverine and the X-Men (TV show), I will for sure be buying that.

No season two? No comic book? Marvel is loosing some points, I haven't met the first one to say something bad about that show

It is but they haven't done that since Mini-Marvels and (it probably doesn't count but) Power Pack

Try Tiny Titans for a couple of issues you'll die laughing :)

Marvel Adventures ended with #61 of Spider-Man. That's why they're launching a new all ages line, but since this one is tied into the animated shows the synergy will hopefully help it.

Of course they're going to market their cartoons as a comic, when doesn't anyone try this?

I'm divided one these. We see the cancellation of a few rather loved series then those funds put into this, which can estimated won't be long lived. I could say I get the " friendly " claim, but I don't really buy it. I don't think money/product making corporations are interested specifically in the well being of children's emotional states, lest they just as well publish easy to read educational books about wildlife and dinosaurs, as they are to pandering and cashing in further on an already selling product (the animated series). As well, not all, but there are already child friendly publications, and Disney itself already owns that division and bought Marvel for the purpose of reaching the one they couldn't themselves: Older males. But if they end getting some enjoyment and do put a smile on some kids faces, then that outweighs it and I say money well spent.

Though if Marvel EVER attempts a full on Star Comics revival, which was a separate universe of comics which existed for the sole purpose to be Saturday Morning Cartoon tie-ins and sell toys (I'm not even exaggerating, most of those books actually define the mechanics involved with the toy counterparts action feature literally in the books: " I must press the yellow button underneath my arm gauntlet to fire my Grapple Hook Of Awesome ®, quickly! Radical, this is so much fun! "), and the big tagline for these books was of course " child friendly ", which their definition translates to " underestimate the intelligence of your children and teach them the proper respect to beg you to buy them the various products and toys the comic is selling to them ". Well, if that happens, I will...well I'm not certain I'm capable of anything really neat, so I'll probably write complaints online and have a nightmare about it or something. Anyways, down with poisonous snakes! Wait, what is this about again? Oh, those comics. Yeah, they look cute. I probably won't read them but I like the cute " very suspiciously looks like the very exact images I see plastered all over products and clothing in shopping stores " art.

I'm excited for Ultimate Spider-man, but not so much the comic. The show looks really nice. Especially since Man of Action is involved.

this is kinda funny. DC relaunched their whole universe and the major reason given was for new readers. I don't remember if they mentioned ages, but so far from what Ive read by them it isn't exactly for younger readers. We'll see how well this does, but it seems like it should help already.

Anyone else think its weird how Greg Weisman, showrunner for "Spectacular Spider-Man," now oversees "Young Justice," and Paul Dini, writer for Batman, Superman and Justice League animated series, is now the showrunner for the new "Ultimate Spider-Man" animated series?

Was there an animation writers' trade between DC and Marvel that we haven't heard about?

I like that idea of "Fury Files"; side-stories showcasing members of the MU that haven't made it to animation yet (Iron Fist! Yay!). And heck, if these do well, then maybe we can get a "Season Two" Wolverine and the X-Men comic.

I'd like to see this idea pan out but I just don't see kids young enough to be interested having or spending $2.99 a pop for comics. I don't see this lasting.

A good way to ease children into the Marvel universe. Also the Fury Files seem to be used to introduce characters so that you could ease them into the regular 616 easier.
