@Grey56: I was honestly being half-sarcastic. You haven't been here very long, so you don't fully understand my personality or where I'm coming from (this isn't said to slight you, just to say that there's no real way for you to have a good read on me or the tone and genuineness with which I respond to things), but if you ever see me in a thread regarding Matt Fraction, you'd know that I don't take things lighthearted.
Marvel Teaser: Who Will Shape the Future of Marvel NOW?
And you guys wonder why this is a dying industry? There is no wonder from what I'm reading. All I see here are a bunch of crazed fanboys that whine about change. That is the problem with the comic industry. Every time a publisher wants to update the status quo, a bunch of old, biased fools come out of nowhere complaining about progression. A lot of the comic fans want to read the same crap over and over, for decades. The times are changing, and Marvel & DC are recognizing that, and they are trying as best they can to cater to more than one demographic. But then the comic readership comes out of nowhere demanding for things to go back to the same stories you have read over and over. It happened with DC how many years ago, and now if you keep complaining like is in your nature, it will happen again.
I just wonder what outrage, if any, ensued when Image revealed that there would be a second Spawn, and that he would be white.
@Twentyfive: Jim Downing sucks. No one was outraged because everyone stopped reading Spawn like 10 years ago.
@Duke_Nasty: Yeah... Yep. However, my point stands unless someone can prove me wrong, which will not happen.
@antemiusenteri: You know being a fan of Jar Jar Binks, I had always assumed he was to blame for ruining Star Wars. Good to know it was the wonderfully created Mace Windu that did. What a sad world we live in that no fan boy can ever be happy.
I loved the movie, I enjoy the comics. Don't have much of a clue of what is going on with AvX. Kind of under a rock with that one. Stuck to my X-Factor, X-Men Legacy and Thunder--- Sorry Dark Avengers now. But I am truly loving Avengers Assemble, so nice to read a fresh take on the universe without it being hammered by all the cross overs. I just hope it lasts.
But as for Nick Fury Jr. Whatever, haven't read a single thing about him, don't care if he looks like the ultimate version of his dad. Don't matter. Make a good story that I want to read, and I will follow him. If it doesn't appeal, I don't need to bash it too pieces with hammer. Seems kind of dumb. Dark Avengers has been in that corner already- mainly title change- but I get it. Cash in on the Avengers name. Rather have Thunderbolts.
As for Mace Windu, really that's what people think. So many other thoughts come to mind regarding Star Wars. So I will continue to watch Clone Wars (the sheep in me demands I pay attention to what Lucas commands- bah, I just like it). And I will continue to read the ever growing adventures of Luke, Leia and Han.

As one who always liked Ultimate Nick Fury, I'm looking forward to what Marvel does with the new Fury!!!! ^__^
same here.
@Twentyfive: they are trying to appeal to a whimsical demographic that didnt have any interest in comics to begin with, while alienating long time readers. seriously this is just a quick, lazy way to make an extra buck instead of publishing something good like a good STORY. face the facts (i have with a sad, sad heart): the majority of people at marvel are just lazy nowadays and only in it for the money (they only have like 3-4 good writers).
I blame the Marvel Studios films. They're really god, but they're f*cking up the comics/animated universe.

Its probably nick fury jr. I wonder if all the characters will be old and their kids will be them if they have any.
This picture alone makes me worried for what NOW is going to try and do for Marvel. Still, curiosity remains.
I cant wait to see what they have planned. I love major changes to the universe. a big change every couple of years is refreshing. Todays artists and writers are so talented that they need to add a little bit of themselves to these classic characters for todays generation. Im super excited and if ur not then dont buy the books and Marvel will never do it again.

I'm okay with this non-sensical incorporation of the Ultimate Nick Fury I mean, Nick Fury Jr.
But did we also really need Phil Coulson? I mean really? It's not like *cough* he's gonna be that much important or part of the Marvel Movie Universe anyhow... (avoiding spoilers for y'all)

Dear Marvel, YOU SUCK! With all these nonstop crossovers you are getting really annoying. I can read Fantastic Four or X-Men with having to read another comic to understand the story. I've stop reading most of your works except for the Wizard of Oz comics basically. DC has been far better lately. They can change a character and actually improve them. Plus, DC does Vertigo (some of the best of the best). Marvel re-think about what your doing. You're focusing on the movies more then the comics.
Looks like dc sales are about to go UP.
@KainScion: Marvel is much more than that one character you seem to hate already. Marvel puts out many comic books every month, yet, you are basing your opinion on the whole publisher by ONE teaser, ONE comic book (Battle Scars).
Your "nowadays" is laughably ignorant. It has been always like this.
Good things are rare, good thing you would like even rarer.
Self-entitled kids like you who get angry the moment Marvel dares with ONE character not target you are really annoying.
This version of Nick Fury fit the Ultimate-verse............but forcing his way to 616 ? .....not a cool move....Especially those new readers who will look into the past stories and say '' Why Nick Fury was white before ? '' . It is all fair to use a movie or cartoon series' popularity ( look how Harley Quinn came to be ! ) but when you do these questionable choices....it will make you look like you are leeching off the ''trend'' rather than your own creativity.. ( sadly this is the case for many these days )

i said it before ill say it again, this might be ultimate nick fury from the spider-men series...
Nah its clearly 616. Ultimate Fury does not wear that getup and Ultimate Verse already got relaunched with Death of Spider-man
no no no have you been reading the spider-men series? the 616 and ultimate universe are finally crossed, and the 616 peter parker meets ultimate nick fury. he cant change his clothes? and obviously marvel NOW is 616, but with that new development you never know
I'd rather Ultimate Nick Fury move to the 616 then an Ultimate Nick Fury doppelganger rise from nowhere to the top of SHIELD.
Is anyone who's complaining actually read Battlescars? Cause the character seems pretty cool from that and he hangs out with a 616 Coulson soooooo that's awesome
My only problem with Fury Jr is how quickly they changed him from a two-eyed guy with hair to a one-eyed guy with no hair. They could have stuck with his original look and gradually worked in the changes to resemble ultimate Fury when he gets his own series. It would have felt much less forced and probably would have been received much better.
About four people actually read comics, 187 quadrillion people watch the movies, if any of them picks up a comic and sees that Nick Fury is a white cigar-toting Liberace toupet impersonator, their heads would probably explode. Because Marvel doesn't want a lawsuit, they change him into SLJ. Problem solved.
remember when marvel was called the house of ideas?
Lately all marvel seem to do is rely on gimmicks and no longer ideas. i mean im starting to miss the times where a super hero would just go have an adventure.
Spider-man would go out and fight a new or old villain or overcome a new problem and this would be advertised and marketed as the selling point, THE STORY IS WHY READERS READ, not a point one initiative or an endless conveyer belt of events (which now all seem to be made on a gimmick). No one gives a crap about a number change, as if the comic has spider-man on the cover chances are someone who likes spider-man will pick it up whether its numbered 1 or 389. Big promotional campaigns seem to now just be the fact something has a number changed than the story inside. Take Captain America for example, the last time his book renumbered all the emphasis was on the number change, I dont seem to remember the new villain or cool plot being advertised that much at all.
Soon marvel will only produce books the mark millar way using soundbytes like "Oceans 11...............but super villains" or "Batman.............but an evil dick"
i now have a nosebleed caused by this rant
