Marvel Announces SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD #1

I'm not feeling any of the Secret Wars stuff. This looks fun though and I love the talent on the book.

This time, I'm just buying the main storyline. I already learned the hard way with Axis that buying all the tie-ins is completely useless.

i'll check out it, but as others said i won't even waste the extra time or money on the tie ins, besides the ongoing Spider titles that is...

@donmeca2020: Yup, it's a series of tie-ins. Like AvX: Versus and Axis: Revolutions.

I'm going to definitely pick this up I intend to pick this up and the 2 other Secret Wars books they have coming out

@betony: I think it may be different for Secret Wars like Civil War they are going to have important tie ins because they are making this their biggest event yet also not all Axis tie ins were useless without reading Deadpool you wouldn't know why there's Zenpool you also wouldn't know about Carnages journey to be a superhero that confusing thing that happens with Hobgoblin etc. But besides the point the tie ins to Axis were alot better then Axis.

The ending of Avengers is supposed to be the set up for Secret Wars. Secret Wars starts right after, running for 7 issues. This is just a 4 issue tie in.

You know what really stunk? and i ended up buying them because i thought the covers were Awesome.. the whole count down covers with Wolvy's hand deteriorating. they look awesome and yet it really spoke not to much about why or how he would have died.

@donmeca2020: Gotta do your research before you buy them. Read up on the solicitations and see what other books will be coming out in the months that follow. Gotta use your resources so you don't get confused. But, I gotta say those Wolverine covers with the claws were pretty awesome looking.

Thats really the only reason i bought... plus i was still in the mindset that Wolvy stories were still like his series from the 90s . which i used to really enjoy. Since joining Comicvine though this site has been a great asset to me and deciding what to buy and when its coming out .

The cast on the first cover is a real all winners squad. I didn't think it could get any better until I scrolled down some more and saw that it was the best thing marvel ever made. MODOKverse is the best verse

What a great creative team! I think I may just only buy these tie ins. Also that MODOK cover is beautiful.

Maybe they'll give Odinson his Hammer back hahah probably not. So white Fury or Black fury? They never even told what made Thor lose his worthiness. Two spider-man roaming in new york. What will happen to the Beyonder? Crisis of infinite earths Marvel style.

I can't get my head wrapped around the whole thing O.o I am afraid that it will be a huge mess of an event and it won't tie well at the end.

I do,'t mind when people jump the shark as long as the shark has the deadly laser canon beam on his head.

I hope the couple of thousand people who actually vividly recall the 1602 and 2099 characters enjoy this series. Most comic readers have no idea about who a lot of these alternative characters are. Speaking as one of these people, why should I feel compelled to buy this series? It doesn't sound like too much fun to watch some random, badly-developed characters fight against each other for no meaningful reason. As with the DC Convergence event, I'm going to take advantage of Secret Wars by saving some money and trying to catch up with the Marvel Universe when the dust from this overly-insular event has cleared.
