Yeah, I never meant the F word.
Marvel Announces New HULK Series Starring Jennifer Walters
After the failure of changing the Hulk mantle's race now they are going for the gender. Because keeping the name She-Hulk would offend the SJWs. Looking forward to the transgender Hulk when Marvel runs out of ideas. Still glad she gets her own series though since I don't dislike her.
@g2_: no. They literally aren't.
@avenging_x_bolt: Arent what?
@avenging_x_bolt: spitting on you're faces
@captainomnitron: I agree. I've been reading She-Hulk for over 20 years (and she's one of my favorite superheroes). As much as I'll miss comedic, fun Jenn, this is a new side to her that we really haven't seen before. I'm excited to see what they do.
Marvels newest marketing gig, marketing minority characters under the names of more popular majority heroes and pretend its progressive.
Please don't degrade She-Hulk by turning her into ''just another Hulk''... We have seen that countless times...Hell even Cho and Dr. Green had this rage stuff all over. Jen was great when she was away from all the generic Hulk rage stuff and now Civil War 2 outcome is gonna ruin that....It is a sad day.
Marvel, Axel Alonso (who is one of the main culprits), and their editors/executives are really pushing this way too far.
Honestly, what is wrong with titling the series "She-Hulk"?! It can still have a serious tone to it. And why does it feel that they're trying to shove the square peg in the round hole? That's the vibe I'm getting from this.
She-Hulk/Jen Walters is her own unique character. She doesn't have to take up the mantle or be like Bruce Banner/Hulk. She can just be herself and be her own genuine, unique hero. She's a Hulk, yes, but does she have to follow in Bruce's legacy? All of the other Hulks - Skaar, Red Hulk, A-Bomb, Red She-Hulk, Lyra - are all different and unique to the extent that they can stand on their own, pay homage to Banner/Hulk and do so without diluting the character.
Seriously, this needs to stop!
I'm sick to death of all these PR stunts involving race, gender, religion, politics and whatever nonsense being forced down our throats! I'm sick to death of seeing all of my favorite legacy characters get their mythology/lore/history/characterization butchered by these hack executives/editors & writers who seem to lack a single creative bone in their body! If they want to create and push new heroes, they should do it without tarnishing already existing characters.
I can dig it. Hopefully the removal of "she" implies some new found savagery for Jen. I mean, makes sense, given the recent events and everything.
@moogman13: I disagree with you there. DC's multiple characters that have the same name (Wally West & Superman) are results of other worlds ending, the remains of New 52 or something like that. Those individuals have their own stories & stuff going and were legitimately the Flash or Supermans of their worlds. They weren't knock offs like Jane Thor, IronHeart or what's happening to She-Hulk. Marvel is just pulling bullshit in hopes to sell. It's very clear.
Exactly. It's not just some wannabe coming out of nowhere claiming to be someone else.
cant believe this is happening and the Fantastic Four still dont have a comic.
First comic book i ever read was an FF4 and i have always bought their comics as a number 1 priority. such a shame
If it wasn't for old man logan and black widow i don't think I'd be reading marvel anymore. BTW is Dr. Doom back in his suit yet i know he was in invincible iron man without his suit but i haven't seen him since then
Do something shocking to get people to buy?
What a unique, and new idea.
Now I really know people will just complain about anything. Really? A character that's been around for 3 decades and people are mad she's getting her own solo series being called hulk? She's been a hulk for 3 decades, what else is new? There's literally nothing different except the title. You act like heroes never leave mantles. Bet one your favorite heroes is legacy hero while your getting mad over this one
I would love nothing more than to see Jennifer Walters and Peter Parker develop a friendship that's based on their shared interest for science and rules of the law...
@scbetton: came here to say the same thing. I was surprised by the amount of negative commments for a character that is this old. Not to mention the premise actually fits the title of the book. Plus the creative team seems really solid. I for one am excited for this book
Why not just call it She-Hulk? We all know it's She-Hulk.
That is because with the new PC era of Marvel it would be a "micoaggression" to label someone with a specific gender.
@arieswarlock: Lyra is too busy with their harem of sex slaves.

LOL, too true.

Sooner or late, Marvel's PC era will blowup in their faces, just like the events of the late 1990's when readers stopped supporting the book. I think that Axel Alfonso needs to chill out on the PC because it doesn't translate to strong sales. He seems to think that Marvel should become like those independent publishers. And even some of them are scratching their at WTF are the folks at Marvel doing. The sooner that Joe Quesada, Axel Alfonso, Nick Lowe and Brian Bendis/Dan Slott are gone the better. They have made Marvel Comics so unlikable....

I hope so, honestly if they kill off the PC era they may still win back many of us classic fans before we turn our kids off of Marvel. It isn't just Adel, it's Bendis too they are so busy PCing all the characters they don't realize the harm they are doing. For example they have Bobby Drake brought from back during the original X- men forward in time told him he is homosexual got everyone to accept this and now when they put him back in the original timeline he had no reason to have had any of the storylines that involved him in a relationship with women, instead of creating a character and even if he/she is in the closet and they do a story of them coming out you don't have 50 years of story to blow up. I agree 100% with everything you have said
I hope that "Not-She"-Thor and "Not-She"-Hulk can get into a fight and be like: "I surrender to you because you're a girl.". "No! I surrender to you because you're a girl!",..."No I surrendered to you first because you're a girl"
Then maybe they can throw down to see who gets to surrender for the cause of girl-ness.
But I'm actually pretty confused about all this. Why call her just Hulk? Shouldn't we be calling her Bruce?
It's a bit interesting really because She-Hulk in the 70-80s Avengers pretty much exemplified the worst of the feminist movement: she had all of the alpha-male arrogance that comes from being testosterone'd up but all of the entitlement of a woman expecting the door to be held open for her (like when she almost killed Jarvis while carrying a 10-ton piece of steel and expecting Jarvis to move because,...woman walking). Like that or not, she was an interesting character because she had her own thing.
While I despise the poor writing and logic bending that goes into She-Thor, this one might be even worse since it'll likely take a strong (believable lawyer) character and reduces her to the guy-rage thing. She-Hulk has always had her own character. If Marvel's so keen on pushing the "51% minority" thing why not make an intelligent Jen Walters a "minority" rights lawyer. It could be "The Good Wife" law drama meets comics,...
