This better be good.
First Look: AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS #1
If Magneto teams with the Red Skull every fan should riot....
Xavier is gona return. I have a good feeling he will. I like Remender's writing a lot. He has a tendency to be a hit or miss but when he hits, he hits real good
Because the last time Marvel tried uniting these two teams for a crossover event, it went so well... O_o
I haven't pulled X-men or Avengers titles since I got into comics - which was just prior to Marvel's revamp with 'Now!' I've been playing catch-up with trades & Marvel Unlimited.
Are there any key issues from any Marvel book that leads up Axis that anyone could recommend?
I'm really interested in Axis, and Sam becoming Captain America. I have a decent idea with what's going on in the Marvel U. I pull several other Marvel titles including Original Sin.
@dagmar_merrill: them's be comics, lad.
Nah that just be DC and Marvel.
It's strange to think of the X-men and the Avengers fighting together after AvX, and really after what the Illuminati has done it's even stranger to view any group or person as worse, even the Red Skull.
"Rick’s story is massive and will touch all corners of the Marvel Universe in new and interesting ways."
Doubt it.
"There’s a fine line between good & evil."
Sorry, that line for me was erased a long time ago. Marvel characters being heroic is like politicians being honest, it might happen now and then but the default setting for the modern marvel characters is semi-villain or dumb. The idea that they'll suddenly start being heroic and working together and be smart is laughable when I think of AvX and other big events.

I do think Invisible Woman, and a (very) few others have solidly held on to that noble high ground. But I agree - the Marvel U. is just a weird place to be in; the villains are actually less villainous than the "heroes," and the size of the super groups actually makes it seem like they are just beating up on the "bad guys" who are just unlucky enough not to be powerful enough or well-connected enough to fight back.
My main question to the creative team heading things up is, with all due respect, after you tear down a superhero so they cross the line to villainy or anti-hero status, is it really possible to make them a hero again?
I have to ask, because I see these characters getting into event after event after being dragged through the mud, but none of them really seem to learn anything for the better from it.
(I also posted this here.)
Axis. Time Runs out. The Avengers - X-Men War. Siege. Dark Reign. The Acts Of Vengeance. The Death of Wolverine.
EVERY TIME LOKI TOPS.
During Acts of Vengeance Loki was the assistant and it seemed like no one ruled the Cabal but in truth Loki did. EVERY TIME LOKI TOPS.
During Dark Reign/Siege on the outside Iron Patriot ruled the cabal. If you took a step closer you might even say the Green goblin ruled the Cabal. But if you pulled back the veil of truth, Loki ruled. He convinced Doom into letting Asgard into Latveria and Norman into attacking Asgard. EVERY TIME LOKI TOPS.
During AVX I wouldn’t be surprised if Loki was the reason behind the Phoenix Force returning to earth, destroying Wakanda, the Illuminati reforming, AND the Avengers/Illuminati war. All this so the Avengers/Illuminati War would make Thor look bad. Thor being unworthy? Probably Loki too. EVERY TIME LOKI TOPS.
Now during Axis. The villains are good and the heroes are evil. “This switch theme” was probably engineered by Loki and (Onslaught) Red skull is just another pawn like during the Acts of Vengeance.
Time Runs Out. While the Avengers/Illuminati War is at the climax, Loki and his Cabal (Dark Avengers, Dark Illuminati) save the earth from the Final Incursion (using Hank Pym the Living Planet) and are deemed as the earth’s saviors. Loki is no longer the Agent of Asgardia but the self-proclaimed king and new All-Father. Loki finally wins and Thor finally loses. EVERY TIME LOKI TOPS. All-Father Loki then sends Angela Asgardia’s assassin to hunt down the Avengers and Illuminati, the villains. You remember how when you kill a hellspawn you get a medal with the Symbol of Hell on it? And how Jonathan Hickman gave each of The Avengers a symbol? Well whenever Angela kills one of these “evil Avengers” she gets a medal with their symbol on it. This would be the plot of the Angela: Asgardian Assassin ongoing series.
BUT, since heroes kinda have to win, she has one last avenger to kill, the master himself, Dr. Strange (A New Avenger). Dr. Strange knew he would fall from grace both times. The first time (during Secret invasion/Dark Reign) he knew he would lose his Supreme powers for a while and they would return. This was a trial he was willing to accept. The second time (Avengers/Illuminati war) his contingency would be the Secret Defenders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Yeah pull them out of limbo). Strange would reunite his team Wolverine (A primary Avenger, Death of Wolverine) bringing him back from the dead with his healing factor, Jack Monroe (Resurrected), Julia Carpenter, Darkhawk and the Fraternity of Raptors, and Julia Winters (Jack’s Bucky). Julia Winters would be akin to Jenny Quantum. These themes could drag on for a while culminating into two new series one for Dr. Strange and one for the Secret Defenders probably coming out in time enough to tie-in with the movies.
WELL, LOKI TOPPED FOR A WHILE.
@madeinbangladesh: its all right the ending of infinity kinda felt like an buttpull. (for those under age). won't spoil it, i just thought that it could have been better. and honestly i liked how original sin ended but the build up was kinda weak. cause honestly with the watchers eyes doing what he wanted to do he could have just revealed the killer in book 2. kinda want to know what will he do now that axis is coming since he never had a problem with acting before. for those who guess who i'm talking about keep it secret from those who may have not read. though it leads me to wonder what secret he learned to stop that certain someone.
@empurios: wait julia carpenter isn't she still in a coma? or did i miss this. i was wondering with spider-verse going on that she would be an obvious and very easy target. since she is sitting there with no one to protect her. and morluns kinda rashing out everybody.
@jcolesamuels: No she's still in a coma. I was talking about what could happen maybe next year, Dr. Strange would be the last one to get hunted and would wake her up for the All-New Secret Defenders. I have not read any spider-verse books and i thought it would be really hard to tie in with what I think might happen.
