First Look: AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #6

I've been on the fence with Avengers Vs. X-Men. We haven't really seen much happening besides members of both teams fighting. But with this week's AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #5, something finally did happen. Something pretty big. The Phoenix Force has been on its way to Earth to claim its new host. All eyes were on Hope Summers. What finally happened once the Phoenix Force arrived?

That's a bit of a spoiler if you haven't read the issue. But Marvel has released a first look at issue #6. Proceed if you want to know, if you've read the issue or have already heard.

I knew what had happened with the hosts and everything, but has Colossus lost his Cytorrak/Juggernaut powers already?

Finally Act One is over so we can get this awesome art.

But I have a bad feeling that the X-Men are gonna come off as the bad guys...which is what everyone predicted at the start. Something good better be happening soon.

I would love to see Piotr in his Cyttorak form while using the Phenoix Force! ... He gets to keep his Juggernaut forms right?!

So we have a group of people that are mystically endowed with amazing power in order to try and take on the world..............yeah that doesn't sound like what happened during Fear Itself at all. Way to go Marvel on being original in story concept and suspense.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. If only the art was better for this event I may have just subscribed but the art just doesn't feel anywhere near epic enough

new suits huh...they'll last about two books then back to normal.

I actually think this is rather promising. Thankfully its Hickman, he may just be able to do something with this.

To comment on the issue, I felt the narrative was a bit contrived & less expository & more filler. I felt the climax of this issue was a trifle bit similar to what we saw in Fear Itself.

To answer your question, there's an issue of Thunderbolts during Fear Itself that touches on Cytorrak & how his host can only contain his power. The Asgardian power overcame Cytorrak & pushed him out of Marko, thus he found a new host in Colossus. I'm hoping for the outcome of Cytorrak returning to the original Juggernaut. But we shall see..

either the avengers are going to be losing the fight and then the scarlet witch gives them an upgrade so they can fight the x men on a level playing field (cough bit like fear itself cough) or jean greys going to come back, absorb all the phoenix force.... i really dont like how this is going to pan out... something big needs to happen to rescue this event

If they are reshaping the world, it sounds close to House of M to me as well. And actually, there was a lot of talk about if protective custody was justified or not, so a bit of civil war maybe?

Agreed! Oliver Coipel is a real artist.

To me, it felt like they were setting Cable up as the deus ex machina of AvX at the end of X-Sanction, what with getting rid of the T-O virus and all, so ideally he should be at a similar power base as Nate Grey. But now with the developments at the end of AvX #5, I'm really intrigued to see what happens, and if my theory plays out.

Because a Phoenix-empowered Colossus with the armor of the Juggernaut isn't powerful at all

y'know...you can't really divide infinity. Phoenix hosts usually get all creepy what with the entity's cosmic concerns beyond our mortal ken. Why would Scott of all people think he could control it. I thought part of his disagreement with Cap was that he felt the X-Men were better equipped and experienced to manage, not control, the Phoenix coming to Earth.

Coipell's artwork is fantastic! But all I see here is a rip-off of Age of Apocalypse. If I wanted that, I'd buy and read the actual Age of Apocalypse.

And Colossus, take off Wonder woman's skirt. You look like a ninny in it.

So the rather 'obvious' curve ball of it not being Hope is revealed to be five instead of one. I guess that makes as much sense as the rest of the books...;) I do like the 'Phoenix armour' but I agree with the person who said Cyke looks like Nightwing! As for the X-men coming across as villians...it was bound to happen when they are up against Marvel's beloved Avengers! Plus I'm not sure if mentioning the spiler below is really needed when you have a picture of the cover alongside it! ;) If it's supposed to be a shock why have them all in Phoenix glory on the cover?!?!

The art looks amazing but are you F'n kidding with this story? This is why I stopped reading the X-books. Curse of the Mutants was garbage and ever since then, I have seen nothing that would draw me back. I cant figure out why people continue to buy this crap
