I wish land was not the artist. I'd really like this book more I'd if was anyone else.

The action panels don't look bad but someone but Land should be doing faces. Doesn't look good.

Everyone looks stoned lol...other than that I don't think it looks too bad. Colors are outstanding.

Really, the problem is not that the face dosen't look good... the real problem is that he can do ONLY ONE great face, and the faces are always the same! I can identify Mystique from previous female character draw by Land, only because she is red and blue...

Yea it's true all of Lands faces are pretty much the same... some even exact copies of one another.

@thatlyn_yoaeg_ill_rymmin: good point but I mean with as much of his work as I've read, once you've seen the same too much it loses its appeal and I have to say at this point it really does not look good to me whatsoever.

I know, man. Jesus. I can't fully enjoy that book because of it. I can't unsee what I've seen...

Didn't you read the first book? yeah she isn't.

The art of the first edition was okay, but this is very bad.

Would be interesting to see where Land traced/stole this art from this time around.

Art looks just fine to me. The only problem I see is that it's too "open" to color. Land appears to be doing a lot less shading than he usually does and the colorist isn't taking up the slack, so it has kind of a coloring book feel, without a lot of volume to it. but the actual drawing, per se, looks good.

Lands faces are much better to look at than Steve Dillion's.

Mystique looks hot on that cover.

Ugh Freakin' Land. Only that guy could make me NOT buy a comic with Magneto (my favorite comic character) and Psylocke (Top 10 Fav) in it. His art is such complete garbage. Land could make an orgy boring.

@zackisme: So a guy dislikes someone's art and it's a challenge to do better? Taste doesn't work that way. I'm not great, but I think he sucks too.

That is what he is saying, Greg Land traces pornstars faces, plenty of thread of the pictures he traced on comic book forums.

Hmmm... The art looks fine to me. Is it because y'all know that he traces? Cause I have seen some professional comic artists that NEED to be tracing vs the stuff they actually put out.

I went back and looked closely at it after reading the comments and I don't see anything offputting.

I know greg land has had a lot of repetitiousness in the past but this x-men book has looked great so far imo

Why? Is he not allowed to dislike an artstyle? Does he have to be a better artist to criticize Land's art?

Is there some kind of rule that restricts an artist from drawing in the background within panels containing an action sequence I don't know about? It seems that with Land you either get static figures exchanging dialogue amidst at least SOME representation of the setting or awkwardly positioned fight scenes with no background at all.

Sidenote: Every pose Mystique strikes in these pages has her legs wide open, and right there at the very bottom...I feel like that tongue is directed at us. He's laughing at us. Bastard.

@zackisme: So, taste is an extension of personal ability? Then you must really love all music and all artists.

Didn't love the first issue, but I'm hopeful that it will pick up. Looking forward to this one.

I'm digging this book. Like the line up and story so this is on my list.

Or maybe we're hating because all his females look completely indistinguishable due to the fact that he traces the same handful of porn actresses for each one. I'd rather see art from Ray Charles' animated corpse than spend money on another Land book. The dude is hot garbage.
