You can always expect plenty of conflict within the pages of comic books. In Marvel's latest big crossover event, a major decision has to be made. It's a decision that will have serious consequences and really call to question how far they should go in keeping the peace. Similar to the 2006 story dealing with the Super-Human Registration Act, the decision will eventually divide the heroes into two factions. What's different this time is the choice to be made is on a much bigger scale. As the new choice is presented, there are some dire consequences that go along with it.

There will be some spoilers for Civil War II #1 below.

No Caption Provided

A new Inhuman has surfaced. Unable to control his powers, he simply gets visions about events that are about to happen. The Inhumans give the Avengers full disclosure on his abilities, which begins the debate. Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) feels the visions should be used to prevent problems before they occur. Tony Stark (Iron Man) questions the "probability ratio" on the visions. He questions how accurate the visions are. Is the future seen in them fated to happen? If they can prevent something from happening, that makes it a possible future rather than something that absolutely will happen. Do they have the right to apprehend someone for something they haven't done yet?

The issue isn't fully resolved, but when another vision occurs involving Thanos, Carol and her team (the Ultimates) decide to take on the Mad Titan. Tony is called to the Ultimates' headquarters with the bad news.

James Rhodes, War Machine, is dead. As seen in the Free Comic Book Day issue, Rhodey and Carol are in a relationship, and he happened to be with her when the Inhumans arrived with the vision of Thanos' impending attack. War Machine joined the Ultimates, and it was a brutal fight.

No Caption Provided

Tony is angry Carol decided to act on a vision. He accuses her of killing his best friend.

Rhodey wasn't the only casualty. She-Hulk suffered serious injuries as well.

No Caption Provided

It was unclear whether or not She-Hulk would wake up from her coma. Because of her unique biology, a gamma specialist is needed but couldn't be found. After Tony yells at Carol and rushes off, She-Hulk wakes up and tells her to fight for the future. She flatlines and we're to assume she's dead as well.

There is a tiny chance She-Hulk can still survive. The problem is, because she's in the body of a Hulk, it would be nearly impossible to resuscitate her. Since we're talking about comic books, there's always a way to reverse her death. Perhaps she'll revert to her human form and action can be taken. With this attack and the injuries, the other heroes in the Marvel Universe will have to decide what should be done with the visions from the Inhuman. Should they try to change the future or should it be allowed to play out as intended?

Civil war II brings massive changes, the first and foremost change is that healing factors can no longer heal wounds. In fact, healing factors now only work if it doesnt go against an oversight by the writer.

Another massive change is that heroes are now hurt by explosions that are far less in magnitude than what they have tanked before. Unless of course the plot dictates it.

And I don't know how Carol Danvers thought that the team she chose to fight Thanos with will be effective somehow.

after reading this again, the only thing that would make sense to me if this entire story would have been a vision and this turned out to be a dream/simulation

Otherwise, this makes little sense to me...but darn it...I will still be locked in and reading

on a happier observation..David Marquez may have just earned himself a promotion. He can join Mike Deodato Jr, Oliver Coipel, and Jimmy Cheung as Marvel's Big Event artists. say what you will about why he died...but darn if that isn't a beautiful panel of War machine and Thanos

It really saddened me to see Beast with the Faux Xmen instead of the real Xmen like he belongs and on a related note, it really irritates me that within the MU (obviously i understand creator wise, not that i'm happy about it) that no effort has been made to get rid of the mutant death cloud. I know one of the justifications of Beast exile was that he was "working on a cure" but you don't need a cure if you just get rid of the damn cloud. It took me awhile but i finally understand why everyone hates Bendis, of which now i count myself, for all his crap as well as what he did to my favorite Xman. On a positive note, I love David Marquez's art and that spread of most of the Marvel heroes...*sigh* and the Inhumans, was great.

Given that back in Infinity Gauntlet Thanos was mopping the floor with way more powerhouses than that....

Carol's team wasn't just the Ultimates. Her other team, A-Force, were involved as well, hence She-Hulk being there. Combined, as we saw in the FCBD issue, they refer to themselves as Avengers.

I'm really enjoying the first few issues, but I'm with everybody else on some of the inconsistencies

A simple missile takes out she hulk?

Also, thanos was barely hurt when he fought all the main avengers in infinity. Now a couple B players take him down?

Oh well. I enjoy the art. Hopefully thanos plays more parts. And I love the inhumans. Going to read it all regardless. But going to hate the book price with every issue. 6 bucks! Come on!

The comic seems really messed up (she-hulk dying to one of War Machine's missiles(???????????)), but I'm liking the general story as of right now. AMAZING art as well.

I really love how marvel has been pushing Carol Danvers as a leading female super hero since 2012 like the truth is since she's become captain marvel she's risen to popularity and success more than she ever did as ms marvel and don't get me wrong I love Carol Danvers especially her time as ms marvel for many decades and I'm like her biggest fan and I feel like if anything it's been a long journey for her character that's finally paying off she's leading the ultimates and she's second in command of a-force and she has her own solo series captain marvel and she'll be soon having her own film and despite the minor setbacks like the avengers 200 incident the rogue/X-men incident and alcoholism and in a way the first civil war it's like now she's finally getting the recognition she has long deserved.

With that said I like how bendis so far us showing each characters point of view and why they're on the side they're on why Carol is on the side she is and why Tony is on the side he is on they both lost someone that means dearly to them James being Tony's best friend and partner and James being Carol friend and lover as well as she hulk who seemingly is dying who is the leader of a-force and carols best friend.

This tragedy will play a major factor in their actions and motivations regardless I'm team Carol Danvers/captain marvel because I feel like she's the most relatable on top of being my all time favorite superhero.

And I really like how bendis again shows both perspectives and points of view and why Tony and Carol and the various heroes that are on their sides are taking that side he does a really good job I feel despite what critics will say of humanizing these characters and showing them at their weakest at their most vulnerable and having you relate with them and their situation.

They also talk about how the doctors can't help She-Hulk because of her unique physiology, despite the fact that Hulk physiology might be the single most explored superpower in Marvel with several villains and Shield capable of creating them and every genius in Marvel doing a complete check on Banner at some point to look for a cure.

Amazing that Tony cares about Jen after he tricked her into bed, de-powered her with an experimental weapon and then dumped her in New Jersey. He's slept with her already, for Tony Jen's use ended at that point didn't it?

Also amazing that in a marvel universe that host Dr. Strange and other magic users not to mention super scientists and people who've spent years studying Hulk physiology no one knows how to help Jen. This is a bit like no one being able to handle Aunt May's gunshot wound, I wonder what Carol can sell to Mephisto?

Let's not overlook the fact that Jen has died a few times already and that death is about the weakest force in the known marvel universe. Hangnails, toothaches and parking tickets are more serious.

In my opinion this storyline so far has one thing in common with cw1: however novel the idea there are enough plot holes to fill the Alfred Hall.
