@noj: hahaha! progressiveness and inclusiveness are soooo hilarious and an absolute joke. hahaha!
New Captain America Revealed
Yep, and get this; Tony Stark will either be like Nolen-Batman from the dark knight rises where he'll be flat broke, physically weak, and have that growly voice to be dark and edgy, or be more machine and sacrifice what little humanity he has left as he upgrades into an 'ultimate superior being'. HA!
But seriously, the moves that Marvel has been making lately makes me uneasy a bit. I wonder how DC will react to this 'current event'.
Or he gets kidnapped by one of his suits that's gained sentience. :)
But I think DC have enough issues to deal with as it is. That said, I think some of the moves Marvel is making right now, appear to come on the heels of what DC has already done:
- Falcon Cap= response to Val Zod
- Genderswapping Thor= response to Azzarello/Chiang ending on WW and the Finch's going towards more conventional stories. (I cant say this with any certainty, but hasn't Thor: GoT resided in WW's shade for some time now? Or is that just me)
Yes but they didn't promoted it on national television in a rather absurd Mad Men style like Marvel did.
- Iron Man is getting a freakin' Superior Spider-Man treatment which is just what the character needs.
What? Why? IM just started being loved by fans why make him an a$$hole again?
D@mn MARVEL. Their short-sighted decisions are ruining these characters. My favorite Marvel characters are either replaced, dead or transformed into a$$holes. Cyclops-a$$hole, Steve Rogers-replaced,Thor-replaced, Doc Strange-a$$hole. I am at least glad that Spider-man is no longer Superior.
I wonder how long can Marvel continue with these stunts until people get bored with them and marvel has turned its universe into a mess.
I think it's already started my friend. Cyclops, Iron Man, Thor and more are all on a slippery slope down from what they used to be. Dr Strange's change was peculiar for me in all honesty and Thor's sex change was the last straw too. Their universe is not the one I loved from ages gone by. Nor is DC but at least I can find solace in some titles.
@lyrafay: Just part of Marvels PR strategy, anything that could be breaking news worthy is made into an announcement, DC otoh has long had an approach of just sitting back and let most news generate themselves, sometimes that's a good idea other times I think its the reason they are always in 2nd place to Marvel. (The exception seems to be whenever Didio, Johns or Lee have something to say about something).
I'm down with almost anything if a good story can come out of it. I've got no problem with either Captain Falcon or the all-new Thor.
My son, who is 5, thought the changes being announced were interesting and cool. And guess what? He already understands that this probably isn't forever. He isn't worrying about characters being 'ruined' - he just thinks its awesome Falcon gets to be Cap because then he'll have wings AND a shield.
And he's an actual child. Compared to some of the childish reactions to the news, he's practically a mature adult already.

I understand your feelings towards the changes, but as always I think we should at least give them a chance to be good. You already know none of these are forever. I'm actually very interested in reading this new Cap book, but that's just me I suppose.
@allstarsuperman: shaking things up, without rebooting the whole line. I don't understand what you don't understand about this. You have to make some changes every now and then to make things interesting.
@smashbrawler: you mean startled
@war_killer: what is wrong with you

I dont mind the changes in Cap's book, unlike many others I've enjoyed Remenders run, excluding Iron Nail and Mindbubble arc. The downside here is that it feels too soon after Brubakers Cap.
Thor though that's just BS incarnate, and your son hasn't spent the time and money investing on these characters. Not exactly fair to compare him with the posters here.
Thats it im done with marvel forever the falcon doesn't have the skill or talent to hold that sheild marvel has become a joke dc here i come
@entropy_aegis: Why is the Cap situation different than the Thor situation in your mind? I don't understand the difference; they are both being temporarily replaced by other characters who will wield their 'legacy'. And we should all know it won't be forever. If you haven't read it already, CBR has an interview with Jason Aaron (the one without Axel or whoever it was talking) that goes more in-depth into Aaron's plan for the character and the run and what will happen with the current Thor. It allayed some of my concerns with the direction of the new series for sure.
And as for my son, well, it's true he hasn't been 'invested' in these characters for anywhere near as long. But in my opinion, the reactions towards this news seem to mostly range between overly-possessive (Marvel can't change MY characters) and flat-out discriminate (Black Cap? Woman Thor? Lame!). And in my personal opinion those views are pretty immature.
@humanrocket: CAPTAIN FALCON! Oh wow, yeah this dumb...
I love falcon but I don't understand why they're changing characters what is there up session with passing down mantel all of a sudden
avengers now
Spider-Man?...
Oh,i get it.....he's not controversially changed for the sake of change,so there's no place for him there.....

I don't see why bad ideas should be given a chance. Nor change for the sake of it rather than it being organically implemented. None of these changes suit my tastes at all nor do I want to spend my money reading about changes to the Marvel Universe I wholly don't like. Sorry but reading something I don't enjoy is a waste of money.
In November, Superior Iron Man #1 sends Tony Stark to San Francisco with a new outfit and a new perspective on life. “The Genius Bar costume is there for a reason,” Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso tells EW. “The newly-transformed Superior Iron Man has very ambitious plans for the city that some of its residents embrace, but not all.” Comic book fans will note the very pointed addition of the word “Superior” to the title. The last time that happened, it was Superior Spider-Man, and Doctor Octopus took over Peter Parker’s brain. Doc Ock won’t be invading Tony’s frontal lobe, but Alonso does note, “Like the Superior Spider-Man, Superior Iron Man is a character that’s hard to root for.” The series is written by Tom Taylor and drawn by In a series written by Tom Taylor and drawn by Yildiray Cinar. come on marvel
avengers now
That looks and sound like absolute grade A horse shite. Guess I will be dropping every single book on that list of crapola. WTF! Who ever OK'ed all this crap should get a bullet in his head. The only way I read any of that crap is if Bucky went all Winter soldior and indeed put a bullet in the mouth of every single one of those people in the bottom row. And they each die horribly at that. First Marvel let's Slott destroy Spiderman. Then they let that has been Waid write that snooze fest run on Hulk. Now lets trash the Avengers with a two year crap run. Whats up with the Marvel right now ? I swear a big time DC fan is in charge of Marvel and is trolling Marvel fan's as hard as possible.
I might actually give Captain America comic a try. As long as the stories are good I don't care about this new Cap and Thor.
@winter_kills: This really is something unthinkable. After the succesfull "Superior Spider-man" experiment, Marvel decided to do this trick with-
Wolverine
Thor
Captain America.
Whose next? Hulk!?
avengers now
Looks cool.
By the way,am I the only one that isn't angry or just doesn't care?
Oh,good. After reading I guess I'm not the only one looking forward to it,or just not pissed....
I especially want to see the development for Sam.
@teerack: to clarify, are you mad that they're pushing Scott over Hank or that they're pushing him as Ant-Man?
What's with this pandering bullshit? Does Marvel think making Cap a minority man will make more minorities read comics? Does making Thor a chick makes more women read superhero comics? C'mon, get real. They're ruining established well loved characters just to be PC.
I don't have a problem with Falcon taking on the role of Captain America given Sam and Steve have been brothers in arms forever. Who else would Steve trust more to carry on the legacy of Captain America? Besides, it's temporary, and we all know it. My only complaint is renumbering the book AGAIN!!! How many volumes do we need? Just keep the series going for crying out loud.
My only problem is that he isn't a soldier. That's one of Captain America's defining qualities. Still, it's minor and can be fixed if Marvel feels like it. Have a time travel arc where he goes back to fight in WWII. Or better yet, send him into the future to fight in WWIII! That hasn't happened yet in the Marvel Universe, has it?
@lvenger: they should first and foremost consider the long term fans who spend their hard earned money on these titles. Its just insane to see Marvel pissing all over comic fans with this ridiculous PC stunt. Muslim Ms.Marvel, Thore and Black Captain America. Bah! You suck Marvel
Hey, this actually seems pretty awesome! If it was anybody, I'm glad it was Sam. This is how mantle's should be passed. If anyone has been reading Cap you know that he isn't in any condition to continue on without the Super Solider Serum. But this seems awesome, count me in!
Yesterday Marvel announced that Thor would become a woman, today they announced Captain America will become black, all they need to do now to complete their "politically correct Trinity" is to announce tomorrow that Iron Man is homosexual. -__-
Chill dawg! Don't give them any more bad ideas, mah n*gga!!
@daredevil21134: Yeah but the thing is I don't know if people would read it IMO.
I think this past few days has been infuriating for comic readers. First DC redesigns Babs and her costume to pander to twilight tweens and feminists now Marvel pulls off this crap.
I was kind of hoping for Sharon Carter, but I guess not.
She dead :)
BB
Just from Remender break down of Steve Rogers shows how he knows nothing about the character yet is still writing the title.
Falcon is a great character but this move kind if demeans him. In the 70s Sam wanted to be a partner not a sidekick and he achevied this. With him taking over the mantle it seems he falls into sidekick territory.
Remenders run has been terrible to say the least. Where a female Thor could be very cool a replacement cap has been done to death. If only Marvel would look at Remenders sales and move him from this title.
@daredevil21134: Yeah but the thing is I don't know if people would read it IMO.
You have a point.Well I am happy Sam is getting face time

Sam has been a prominent character in the Cap mythos and he's Steve's best pal,it makes sense for him to take the mantle,it also gives him sometime in the spot light which I do think he deserves seeing as the character has had a rather mediocre existence for a super hero.
The development in Thor makes no sense to me from any angle whatsoever. They have plenty of existing Asgardian women who can take the spot light in Thor's own book, why not go with them? more importantly what annoys me the most is that for now this character has no noticeable or distinct traits. Every time I look at her I think "Thor with sex change operation".
I'm not gonna defend the posters cause I know first hand how idiotic comic book fans can be but I can atleast understand their frustration.
@critmassxx: I don't see why it would be infuriating, we all know its only temporary.I say enjoy it while it last.
Ive always liked falcon this was a good choice for a legacy character wish brubaker would write it though
