What's up with the random ads on this site?

When I'm on my mobile phone, sometimes I'll scroll and suddenly a new tab will be opened or I'll be forwarded to a page about buying something.

I'm certain I don't have malware on my phone, it's actually pretty hard to get malware on a phone. I don't even have any 3rd party apps on this phone. Plus this is the only site it happens on.

Is this how CV generates money? If so, I'd just like to know upfront.

Edit: sorry, title is supposed to read "What's up with the random ads on this site." Not without.

@slimj87d: CV does make money from ads, sometimes "malicious" ad provider clients slip through the ad providers vetting process, auto redirects and forwards should not happen and you can report them to support@comicvine.com but you have to be detailed in your report so you have to include things like time of day, your timezone, where you were sent to (url address), what page you were on when it happened (url address if it is not a main page) and if possible what the ad was so they can narrow it down and report the ad to the provider. Unfortunately this kind of thing happens all the time for sites getting ad revue, it is a lot of work for ad providers to keep things kosher unless they are shady to begin with.

@pikahyper: it's very odd, I'll be typing and then the page changes or I'll swipe up or down and the page will change.

I want to know if anyone else is experiencing the issue.

@slimj87d: there probably are others but most people don't report it unless the ads are really bad like auto-playing audio or video.

This is a fairly widespread problem that our ad people are continually looking into. Sorry for the trouble; there's more information over here if you're interested.

Hasn’t happened to me recently, at most it’s happened to me like twice or three times and that was a while ago, you’re probably looking at too much porn. However, I do see some ads at the bottom of the page, but those seem like they’re a post to be there.

I'm getting video game ads.
