What is up with the notifications now?

I noticed that I am receiving notifications from people posting on threads that I created. Those aren't blog posts, just normal threads. What is up with that?

Note, when people do comment on my blog posts, I receive two notifications one saying that "x commented on your forum topic" and another saying "x commented on your blog post."

Necessary?

I like this ability for blogs, but not for all threads.

I made the "Who is the avatar above you?" thread. The notifications are driving me mad!

I have it too.. scared to log off in case I come back to 92,034 notifications.

Not sure what notifications you are getting but the watched thread notification aspect came back online yesterday so that could be what you are seeing wrong, anything you are "watching" will send you a notification when it is posted in and you auto watch any thread you create.

I got quoted by one guy,and got a mention by other 3,and nothing.......though i got 2 nots by people who quoted me.......it's preety random,CV chooses what notifications you see and what you don't.

I received an notification when you commented on this very thread as well others. I have created the "The person to post last comment wins - round 6" on the off-topic board and I got notifications from that too.

@dragonborn_ct: any thread you create or post in gets automatically watched by you, scroll to the top and click the Unwatch button and you should be good to go.

Main annoyance though is if you unwatch a thread and post in the thread again you watch it again...

Is there any definitive way to resolve this? I don't really want to keep doing this all the time :/

I've been getting more aggravated by getting notifications from myself telling me that I mentioned myself. Any way to turn THAT off lol? I've been trying to just delete my name tag from whatever I'm quoting but still.

So much annoyance...

In an odd way, I get a notification every time someone posts in the thread I created, as if it were a blog post, except I don't get any specific notifications if someone replies to me directly in that thread, at all (I tested; I get notifications for replies in threads I didn't create). I stop getting the notifications if I uncheck the settings box that says "someone comments on my review or blog," but it still doesn't fix me not getting notified for direct replies (plus I might do a review or blog and wanna see if people comment).

@pikahyper: I did as you said, and I still got notifications from people still commenting on this very thread.

I'm not sure what is going on but since the watched thread notifications have been off for so long and are now back on they must be working on them otherwise they wouldn't just magically turn on themselves, I guess just give it some time and hopefully they are working on it.

It happens to me now as well. It sucks. I had 31 new messages and I can't even read them all cause the notifications only go back 1 page. Any way to see other notification?

The badness of this bug is exacerbated by the fact that I can no longer sift through my notifications for old ones, so when I have 74 notifications and a ton of them are because people posted in a thread, I can't check back to see if I missed something like a wall post or reply somewhere or anything else notificky.

I'd like to mention that it's still happening, and I unwatched my more active threads.

we had an outage on gamespot so we can't push out fixes to comicvine today. hopefully in the morning we'll have the release go out.

I think the most recent push that just went out may have fixed it. Can you verify please?

@mrpibb: It's about half fixed. I don't get notifications for every post in the thread, but now I no longer get notifications at all within that thread, even if someone directly @replies me.

@antonia: yeah, we're fixing a hole in the logic. The fix to not notify thread creators whenever somebody posts seems to have taken notification priority over the replies to the thread creator in that thread. Working on it now.

@dragonborn_ct(and everyone else): We've updated this. Test again and report back to me if there are issues.
