Reply uses a different name than the one on account

Sooooo as soon as I did that re-verify thing for the newest fantastic bug... whenever someone reply's to me, my name now comes up as 'balinda' instead of 'feral_nova'. Please tell me this can be fixed.

@balinda: oh wow that is pretty cool, something must have been tricky with your cookies or maybe a reused email address that confused the verification, I'll pass this on, it can probably be fixed.

Edit: is balinda one of your alts or is it someone else completely?

@pikahyper: I attempted to make a 'balinda' alt about two... maybe three years ago? But of course, it was during the time of one of the many lovely bugs that were going on and it somehow merged or something with my Feral Nova account? I don't know how. Because since then I've had to log in as 'balinda' instead of 'feral_nova' but it never gave me any trouble, so I just never bothered to ask for help... until now.

I don't think so. This was when the whole "you can't use more than one email on different accounts or else you won't be able to use your account anymore" thing was going on about two or three years ago.

@balinda: I'm pretty sure the system still isn't allowing users to reuse emails.

@pikahyper: I know, what I meant is that the system was JUST starting that whole "can't reuse" email thing, and cause multiple accounts to be locked. I can't remember if I knew about or not yet (it's been years since this happened) and I think I tried to reuse the email and this balinda thing happened. if that makes sense...

@feral_nova: You should now be fixed. The issue is yesterday we released some code that dramatically improves our account synchronization across our internal systems, which unfortunately does have the side affect of "fixing" broken stuff. In your case your username was truly balinda, except in one small crevasse of our system it was also feral_nova.

Note that you now need to login with feral_nova going forward. Sorry for the troubles!

Sorry this is happening but this might be like the strangest problem I have heard of. Strange didn't even this something like this was possible.

@karnak: no idea. It's odd because regardless of which account I reply to the same name gets tagged. Karnak.

No idea what to recommend there friend (or son I don't know hehe). Might just have to wait for Pika, Rorie or Mr.Pibb to show up. This is like the strangest problem I have seen.

P S evidently it's pretty cool when you don't have an alternate account =)

Apologies to anyone this sounds offensive. That was never my intention.

Username changes aren't going to all the places in the database that they should. I have a bug in that will hopefully fix it up. In the meantime, let me know at support at comicvine.com and I can get you sorted if this happens to you.
