Images added to other galleries disappearing

Last night I uploaded this image and added it to each of the character's galleries.

Today, none of those galleries no long contain the picture and I'm having to re-add it to them all again.

What gives.

@pikahyper: Wait, so that deletes it from ALL galleries?

@x35: It doesn't to my knowledge, maybe I hit permadelete instead of delete though, I'll test it out in a bit.

@x35: did you upload it to your own gallery first and then add it to the others via previous uploads? and if so is it gone from your own gallery too?

@pikahyper: Nope... uploaded it straight to Legion of the Unliving gallery, where it remained. It was just deleted from every other character gallery. It stayed in mine too.

@x35: so you uploaded it multiple times from your desktop?

@pikahyper: no. i added it to each gallery.

@x35: so you uploaded it directly to the Legion of the Unliving gallery and then added it to other galleries via the image search?

@pikahyper: It showed up correctly in their galleries after I added it, it wasn't until early today that it was mysteriously gone. Another image I uploaded at the same time to the Legion gallery and added to two of the same character's galleries (Captain Marvel and Swordsman) remained.

The only difference between the two is I had the Bob Hall art removed from Wonder Man's gallery where I accidentally clicked it and couldn't remove it myself.

@x35: ok I have confirmed it, if you reuse the same image in multiple galleries and it is deleted from one gallery it deletes it from all galleries except the users gallery. Big problem indeed, hopefully someone will add it to the todo list.

@pikahyper: Hmmm, but it remained in the initial gallery I uploaded it to...?

on closer inspection it looks like the behavior of the remove button for images has been changed recently, there are two options for deleting images, remove which is supposed to be a soft delete removing it from only one location but leaving it on the site and then perma delete which deletes the image from the website completely, I just emptied the gallery on my test account deleting 6 images and one was my avatar, after doing the regular remove for all six my avatar is no longer on the site so remove acts like perma delete now, very odd, someone must have been tweaking the code for galleries and something got misplaced or something..
