Not really its a mismatch but not huge the gap between new gate and zoro shouldn't be so large.

@dawn6: Zoro hasn't proven to be even close to any admiral and Whitebeard in his sick and dying age plus all the injuries he withstood during the war was still capable of stomping Akainu.

Whitebeard stomps. Though Zoro isn't close to Yonko level, he isn't that far away from Admiral level, he and Luffy are in that grey area between Vice Admiral and Admiral level. Both of them showed they could hold their own against Admirals in short bouts. As for Whitebeard and the Admirals...Aokiji would have skewered Whitebeard with Partisan had Jozu not interfered, Kizaru trolled him and Akainu filled his body with magma and took off half of his face. The anime really nerfed Akainu and made it seem like Whitebeard wtfstomped him with minor injuries, the anime had Akainu take off his moustache with Dark Hound, in the manga half of his face was taken off by that attack. Whitebeard is above the Admirals but the gap isn't as large as some people make out to be. Blackbeard, probably the most powerful pirate alive currently, shit his pants when his crew mates spotted Akainu approaching the island they were on, then Teach got the hell out of there.

I thought it was that their alliance gave them a combined 30% chance of beating Kaido, not the two Supernovas themselves.

Considering how badly Kaido bodied Kid, I doubt Luffy and Law could do much by themselves at this point and time. To me it only makes sense that he was talking about their crews
