Yusuke was a punk who skipped class and acted out, until one day he saved a child from being struck by a car and was brought back to life, as a Spirit Detective.

Passive: Connected Re-Birth - Yusuke and Puu are connected, if he dies then he will be reborn as Demon Yusuke; see Special Active for more on Demon Yusuke. If Puu dies first though, Yusuke dies too and does not get reborn.

Active: "I happen to be a spirit detective" - Yusuke has a duty to find evil and stop it, to that end, Yusuke can investigate one target, once a night.

Special Active: Demon-Spirit Gun - Yusuke is part demon, his genetic ancestors traits skipped generations until the reached him, if Yusuke dies then he and Puu are reborn, he returns as Demon Yusuke and he will be out for blood. Yusuke can combine his spirit and demon energy into a lethal combination, allowing him to kill one target, once a night. When Yusuke is reborn, he loses his previous active ability in place of this new one.

Another punk kid and rival to Yusuke, Kuwabara was on much the same path as Yusuke but was born with high spiritual awareness that caused him to end up as one of Yusuke's greatest allies.

Active: Spirit Sword - Kuwabara can create a powerful sword made of his own energy. Kuwabara can kill one target, once a night.

Originally a fox demon, Kurama was reincarnated when born to a human mother and because of events involving him and Yusuke, he too joined Yusuke's side in the fight against evil.

1st Active: Rose Whip - Kurama can turn normal plants into powerful weapons, one of his most iconic is his rose whip. Kurama can stun one target, once a night.

2nd Active: Blood Plants - Every plant needs nourishment and to be used as a weapon, the blood plant uses Kurama's essence. Kurama can use blood plants to kill one target, this ability only works once and will kill Kurama when he uses it, it ignores all passive abilities and cannot be protected against or prevented in anyway.

A former criminal turned ally to Yusuke, Hiei possesses multiple powers and skills, including his jagan eye implant.

Passive: Super Speed - Hiei is fast and small, making him a target most cannot pin down. Hiei cannot be stunned.

Active: Jagan Eye - Hiei's Jagan Eye allows him to see beyond what normal humans can. Hiei can investigate one target, once a night.

Yukina is an ice demon and sister to Hiei, though she does not know it. She is seeking her brother and made good friends along the way, friends she wishes to protect.

Active: Power of Love - Yukina possesses the ability to enhance the fighting ability of those around her with her love and support. Once a night, Yukina can use her power to protect one person from being stunned or killed, it cannot be used on herself and does not protect against investigations.

Puu is the spiritual manifestation of Yusuke and the two are spiritually connected.

Passive: Connection - Puu and Yusuke are connected, if Puu dies first then Yusuke will die also and not be reborn as Demon Yusuke, however, if Yusuke dies first then both Yusuke and Puu are reborn. See Special Active for more.

Active: Barrier - Puu possesses spiritual power too and will use it to protect his friends. Puu can protect himself or one target, once a night, with a one night recharge (this means if the move is used, it will require one night before it can be used again).

Special Active: Phoenix Form - When Puu is reborn because of Yusuke's death, he is reborn as the powerful Phoenix Form Puu. He gains a new active ability and loses his previous. Phoenix Puu may protect himself or one player, once a night.

One of the most powerful psychics and spiritualists in the world, Genkai has served as teacher to Yusuke and many others and possesses great knowledge and power.

Passive: Spirit Wave - Genkai mastered the Spirit Wave, it utilizes the power of her opponent to protect herself. Genkai can avoid being killed once.

Active: Soul Return - Genkai can revive one player, once a night, this ability can only be used twice. If this ability is used on Puu or Yusuke they will be revived in original form (even if they died in transformed form) and will not revive the other, this means if Puu is brought back, Yusuke will not be and vice versa.

As the prince of spirit world, Koenma has numerous duties and responsibilities but his main goal always seems to be to assist and monitor Yusuke.

1st Active: Spirit World Files - Spirit world has files on nearly every entity, good or evil, Koenma can use these to his advantage. Koenma can investigate one target, once a night.

2nd Active: Mafuuken - That pacifier in Koenma's mouth is actually a spiritual conduit by which he stores massive amounts of energy. The Mafuuken can only be used once, once used it traps a target in an unbreakable barrier, while in it, they cannot move or speak (this includes voting), however, if Koenma dies, the barrier dies with him and the person trapped is freed.

A psychic who was trained by Genkai and allied with Yusuke to try and stop the psychics employed by Shinobu Sensui.

Active: Shadow Step - Asato possesses the power to paralyze anyone simply by standing on their shadow. Asato can stun one target, once a night.

A peer of Kurama's in school and something of his intellectual rival, he is also a dangerously powerful psychic.

Active: You're in my territory - Kaito does not like violence, his territory prevents all forms. Once a night, Kaito can protect himself or one target from being killed or stunned, does not prevent investigations.

A psychic known as "Copy", he possesses the unique ability to copy the appearance of whomever he touches.

Passive: Who was that? - Mitsunari can avoid being investigated, once a night, with a one night recharge.

Active: Master of Disguise - Mitsunari can copy the identity of any target person, he does not learn their identity but if investigated will appear as them, it will not be revealed whom he targeted.

Don't be fooled, Rinku may look like a kid but he is a powerful fighter who can transmit his energy through yo-yos, turning a child's toy into a destructive force.

Passive: Walking the dog - Rinku can't risk anyone getting too close, so he drops his yo-yo to make a brief barrier. Rinku can avoid being investigated, once.

Active: Serpent Yo-yos - Rinku can make his yo-yos do a lot of amazing tricks, one of which is pulling someone in to take his place. Rinku can switch places with any person, this means whatever happens to him, happens to them and vice versa.

A red-haired demon with a single horn and a love for a good fight, Jin can control the wind and use it to fly or fight as he pleases.

1st Active: Tornado Barrier - Jin can turn wind into a solid wall to protect himself. Jin can protect himself for one night, with a one night recharge.

2nd Active: Tornado Fist - Jin can wrap his arms in swirling wind that can slice up and destroy his opponents. Jin can kill one target, once a night with a one night recharge.

Elder sister to Kuwabara and also possessing in high spiritual awareness, Shizuru watched as her brother took part in the Dark Tournament.

Passive: Thinking Loudly - Shizuru can sense the intent of those around her and avoid being investigated once.

Active: Spiritual Awareness - Shizuru's spiritual awareness seems to be higher than even her brothers and serves to allow her to see and sense things even he cannot. Shizuru can investigate one target once a night however if she investigates Sakyo it will always fail.

Though she may look like a high school girl, Botan is in fact the equivalent of the grim reaper for the spirit world and often serves as the person to give assignments to Yusuke.

Passive: Flight - Botan can fly using a special oar but it isn't perfect. She can avoid being stunned once.

Active: Baseball Bat - Botan has never shown spiritual power but also doesn't shy away from protecting her friends. Botan can stun one target, once a night.

A good student, diligent and kind, Keiko has been looking after Yusuke since they were kids and cares for him deeply.

Passive: Sense of Loss - If Yusuke dies in a permanent way (i.e. not being reborn into Demon Yusuke) then Keiko will learn who was Yusuke. This will happen even if Gourmet is alive.

1st Active: Keiko Slap - Keiko may not have too much spiritual power but she can slap harder than anyone. Keiko can stun one target, once a night, with a one night recharge.

2nd Active: Keiko's Love - If Yusuke dies (either from Puu's death or killed while in Demon Form) then Keiko can revive him. This does not revive Puu and Yusuke returns in whatever form he was in when he died, Demon or Human. This ability can only be used once.

An unfortunate pawn in Sensui's goals, Amanuma possesses amazing psychic powers but is generally a good kid who doesn't fully understand the concept of murder/death.

Passive: Arcade Territory - Amanuma has a powerful territory where the players will enter into a game of chance when involved. Anyone who performs ANY action directed at Amanuma will have one of 6 outcomes occur. 1. Nothing happens (all actions fail, this applies to every ability, even Hagiri's investigation) 2. Action is successful (whatever the person was trying to do, happens) 3. That person is stunned (all actions fail, this does not include Hagiri's investigation, only the first result can stop it) 4. The person is investigated and Amanuma learns who they are (no matter the action that was taken, if the person was investigating, their investigation fails, this does not apply to Hagiri's investigation) 5. The person is killed (their action fails and they die, this does include fellow heroes) 6. Amanuma is killed ( it is possible that Amanuma's territory could be used against him, all other actions still fail but Amanuma dies)

Active: Mobile Games - Amanuma is a video game champion and has played them all, sometimes he may want to share. Amanuma can distract one target, once a night. Distractions only stop investigations and do not prevent stuns or killings, if used on someone without an investigation ability, it has no effect (this ability does not stop Hagiri's investigation)

Sayaka was the representative of spirit world to determine whether or not Yusuke was worthy to have his body and return to the living world.

Active: Spirit Inspector - Sayaka can determine the spiritual nature of anyone. She can investigate one target, once a night to determine if they have a passive ability.

A fighter in the dark tournament, he used special steaming spheres to his advantage to protect against various attacks and abilities. These spheres created different types of armor.

1st Passive: Armor of the ape - can avoid being stunned once.

2nd Passive: Armor of the phoenix - can avoid being investigated once.

3rd Passive: Armor of the wolf - can avoid being killed once.

A monster, probably as a human and most definitely as a demon. Elder Toguro is a shapeshifting demon who is incredibly hard to pin down and kill.

Passive: Shape Shift - Elder Toguro can change his form as he pleases, making it hard to figure our who or what he is. All investigations against this character will fail (this includes Hagiri)

Active: What are you? - Elder Toguro can move his heart or brain, so killing him is nearly impossible. He can protect himself or one target, once a night, with a one night recharge.

A man who allowed himself to become a demon because he was obsessed with youth and power. He was once in love with Genkai, now he only seeks someone to match him in battle.

Passive: Regenerative Muscles - Toguro's body can repair from any damage, making him almost invincible. Toguro can not be killed by any kill ability except the daily vote or Kurama's Blood Plants.

Active: Power at 120% - Toguro can push his strength and energy to the very maximum, making him incredibly strong. Toguro can kill one target, once a night.

A contestant in the dark tournament and member of team Toguro, Bui possesses amazing strength hidden within his armor.

Passive: Armor - Bui can avoid being stunned once.

Active: Battle Aura - Bui does not wear armor to protect himself but rather to protect opponents from his power. Bui can stun one target, once a night.

Once a spirit detective like Yusuke, Sensui was twisted by the horrors of mankind and his mind split into multiple personalities. Despite the mental split, Sensui only seemed to get stronger and now wishes to see the end of the human world.

Passive: Seven other personalities - Sensui has 7 different personalities, none the same as the original and vary wildly. Any time Sensui is investigated it has a one out of 7 chance of success.

Active: Sacred Energy - Two Part Active Ability. Sensui was able to master the ancient and powerful sacred energy technique, allowing him great offensive and defensive capabilities. Part 1: Offensive Armor - Sensui can kill one target, once a night. Part 2: Defensive Armor - Sensui can protect himself once a night. However, it takes one night to switch between either armor.

A psychic who works for Sensui, Hagiri is known as "Sniper" because he always gets his target.

Passive: Perfect Marksmanship - Hagiri's ability makes it so he can not be impeded. Hagiri's investigations cannot be stopped

Active: Bullseye - Hagiri can select one target, once a night and investigate them, with a one night recharge.

Another psychic in the employ of Sensui, Kamiya is known as "Doctor" and his powers revolve around surgical procedures.

Passive: Body Chemical Manipulation - Kamiya can change his body chemistry so his adrenaline is always flowing. Kamiya can avoid being stunned, once a night, with a one night recharge.

Active: Scalpel Hands - Kamiya can perform miracles with his powerful scalpel hands. Kamiya can revive one player, once a night, can only be used twice.

Possibly one of the most dangerous and definitely the most disgusting psychic. Makihara is known as "Gourmet" because his power is to gain the powers of others by eating them.

Passive: Midnight Snack - Gourmet is hungry quite often, so whenever someone dies, Gourmet will collect the body so he can nibble on it later. This hides the identity of whomever he takes, Gourmet does not learn their identities and even if he dies, their identities are not revealed.

Active: Devour - Gourmet can kill one target, once a night. When he does so he also absorbs their passive ability, this ability does not stack so if he devours someone else it will replace the previous passive ability. This ability does not ever replace Midnight Snack.

A demon who worked in Maze Castle as a spy, she often gathers information rather than fight.

Passive: Feathery Moves - Murugu can avoid being investigated once.

Active: Spying Bird - Murugu can investigate one target, once a night

An incredibly wealthy man and the sponsor of team Toguro in the dark tournament, Sakyo seems to love a good bet.

Passive: Self-destruct - Sakyo isn't the most gracious of losers, so if he dies, he takes the person who did it with him. This means, if Sakyo is killed, Sakyo will also kill whomever killed him (this ability does not work on Younger Toguro or Kurama)

Active: Limitless Money - Is there anything money can't buy? Not for Sakyo. Sakyo can investigate one target, once a night.

A demon who took part in the dark tournament, Gama can use paint mixed with his blood to make himself more powerful.

1st Active: Body Makeup - Gama can make himself stronger using his paint, intensifying his muscles. Gama can protect himself from being stunned, once a night.

2nd Active: Makeup of Chians - Gama can also use his blood-paint against his foes. Gama can stun one target, once a night, with a one night recharge.

Don't be fooled by those big...eyes, Ruka is a demon who can construct powerful energy barriers.

Active: Energy Barrier - Ruka can protect herself or one target, once a night, this does not protect against investigations.

A demon who has a pension for drinking and fighting and has a love of beautiful women, though it is hard to tell what he loves most.

1st Active: Drunken Flirt - Chu needs to find a lady. Chu can investigate one target, once a night.

2nd Active: Drunken Stumble - Chu is powerful but also takes to the bottle a lot, which lets his body take a beating without feeling too much. Chu can protect himself or one target player, once a night, with a one night recharge.

Win Requirement: Chu can only win if he and a female character survive until the end of the game, this technically includes Genkai and/or Murugu.

A fox-girl announcer at both the dark tournament and demon world tournament, Koto loves her job and loves violence.

Passive: Foxy Acrobatics - Koto has got some good moves to show off and doesn't want to be silenced too soon. Koto can avoid being killed once a night, with a one night recharge.

Active: Deliver a good show - Koto needs fighters for a tournament, to that end, she must investigate. Koto can investigate one target, once a night.

Win Requirement: Koto must find fighters for a tournament but needs variety; Koto must investigate successfully and find 6 fighters; 3 villains and 3 heroes.

One of the three kings of demon world, Yomi is blind but moves and speaks as though he is not and is not to be underestimated, he is immensely powerful.

Passive: Demonic Absorption Wall - Yomi can use his own energy to make a barrier to protect himself. Yomi can avoid being killed once.

Active: Tornado Energy Blast - Yomi may be king but isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Yomi can kill one target, once a night.

Win Requirement: Yomi does not wish to share the throne, to win, Mukuro must be dead by the end of the game (either by Yomi's hands or another)

Another of the three kings of demon world, Mukuro is powerful and intelligent and has worked hard to reach her level of control, she refuses to yield it easily.

Passive: True Identity - Few knew Mukuro was a woman until the demon world tournament, to that end, the first time Mukuro is investigated, it will fail.

Active: Power of a King - Mukuro is not only smart but terribly destructive. Mukuro can kill one target, once a night.

Win Requirement: Mukuro will not be stopped from ruling demon world, to reach her goal, Mukuro must kill Yomi or Yomi must die by the end of the game.

The son of Yomi, he is nearly as powerful as his father but considerably more reckless, he believes the greater the bloodshed, the greater the battle.

Active: Demon Spiral - Shura can kill two targets randomly, once a night. Shura cannot be killed by this technique and cannot determine whom he kills.

Win Requirement: Shura wants the chance to prove himself against his father in one on one combat, so Shura must ensure that both he and Yomi survive until the end of the game to win.

Although he prefers to be known as "The beautiful Suzuka", he hopes the legend of his beauty and elegance will live on long beyond his life and raise him to near god hood in memory.

1st Active: Body of Steel Muscle Explosion - Suzuka can increase his muscle mass, making his strength all the greater. Suzuka can protect himself from being stunned, once a night.

2nd Active: Rainbow Cyclone - Suzuka can distract one target from investigating, once a night (this ability works just like Amanuma's Mobile Game ability, it has no effect on those without an investigation ability and does not stop Hagiri)

Win Requirement: Suzuka must ensure his legend lives on so he must live to the end of the game to win

Shigeru is a telepath and a boxer, he hopes one day to become a greater fighter and doesn't really care about good or evil.

1st Active: Mind Reading - Murota can investigate one target, once a night, however if he investigates Sensui it will always fail.

2nd Active: Boxing Champ - Murota can stun one target, once a night.

Win Requirement: Murota wants to be a great boxing champion which means he has to fight great fighters. Murota must stun 4 targets to win (heroes, villains or thirds)
