@maninthemountain: anakin was not neccesary, oder 66 would have still commenced, and they could have always forged a reason like the jedi attacking the clones. In retrospect, sidious getting anakin was his biggest mistake as the skywalker family was created by the force for the light side, hence vader was always going to end up helping the jedi. Think about it, no vader, no luke or leia, rebellion is history. No ahsoka leaving pre order 66, no rebellion. Vader was an unknowing double agent who created something that could destroy the empire, and finished off the sith himself.

Yoda takes this with his force advantage. In sabers they are close, but Mace could barely hold off Sidious' lighting with a lightsaber. Yoda did it unarmed. The only way I see Mace winning is if Yoda doesn't use the force and Mace lasts long enough for Yoda to get tired from his old age.

@jantjepeter: vapaad isn't perfect v dooku as dooku does not draw on his anger and rather uses cool headedness and calm. Now anakin on the other hand...

@spartankobe: i'd say mace v dooku is pretty even. Dooku outsparring happened before mace's prime. But yea the notion mace could take either sidious or yoda is ridiculous. Both can fade out of existince to anakin who has filled dooku's vision with light, what does mace have on that?

In a lightsaber duel, Yoda wins with moderate difficulty due to his speed advantage. I doubt that Vaapad would help Windu as much in this fight. In a Force-orientated battle, Yoda wins this every single time. Though Mace is extremely powerful and would put up a good fight, Yoda is older, wiser, more experienced in the Force and possesses considerably more raw power than Windu.

To sum up, a lightsaber duel is a good fight, a Force battle would be a near-stomp in Yoda's favour.

Well it states directly in the newly fashioned Star Wars Canon guide Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know that Yoda is the greatest, most skilled -master of all forms of lightsaber combat-, wisest and most powerful (perhaps the most powerful ever) master of the force on Jedi Council. Along with those it states that neither his diminutive stature or old age have little bearing on his physical ability.

It's a wonder this has been debated. Yoda 10/10, with Windu giving a decent fight, about the same difficulty Yoda experienced against Dooku in AOTC, but a higher level this time.

@darthadi: He was holding back. He managed to defeat an absurdly amped Dooku in Vjun, and Mace ~ Dooku on equal grounds (no Vaapad amp). Stomp is a bit harsh, but he wins decisively.

Age, height and reach, resiliency, and stamina are all in Mace's favor. Yoda gets the psychological advantage of being the one time older mentor Mace looks up to. If you subscribe to the notion Mace needed an external dark side amp seeding from Sidious dark side radiation, to match the dark lord, he obviously won't be getting any from Yoda even if he lets go of his Jedi restraint.

Yoda is obviously hyped to be more formidable when both are at their best, but I can honestly see Mace winning for a minority, he has enough advantages and is close enough in ability not to get stomped. Pre-RotS Mace is obviously outclassed but no-Jedi Restraint Mace a damn near if not outright equal.

Still Yoda, any lightsaber advantage Mace can have (which there isn't since Yoda is canonically superior), Yoda can compensate in force ability.

Yoda has been canonically confirmed to be superior to Mace on several occasions. There's no point in keeping this thread open.
