@zackg: How's it non canon ? It's another major Crisis-like event, following Batman's journey into the past from Final Crisis when Darkseid sent him back in time and he met the Bat God Barbatos. There's also stuff concerning both Mobius aka Anti-Monitor and the Monitor from Grant Morrison.. etc.

There are to many factors to consider. It has varying results depending on who he's cutting. Sometimes it cuts colossus, sometimes not. Or maybe with difficulty. It can cut Gladiator (superman knock off) but not hyperion (another superman knock off) It doesn't seem to cut Juggernaught despite cutting hulk. Though one has a force field so....yeah. Logan repeatedly has trouble cutting through force fields which is technically something superman's body has.

Thor got cut but his thick skin only made it light cuts, so they weren't to deep. Again. many factors to consider. Doomsdays bones make sense because they are tough and he's strong enough to do it, But they only worked some of the time while others didn't depending on how much stronger both characters got. Kryptonite knives are basically cheating so it's not a good comparison. Bottom line, Superman can be cut, But I don't think Adamantium would do it. Or at least not very easily if at all. The crossover where he destroyed a adamantium like metal or tanked a blast that could cut it could be considered canon if Galactus's marvel handbook entry is any indication of the event.

there are a surprising amount of times where the metal broke. Some by exceptional circumstances and others by simply powerful enough foes. Nothing you'd find on earth but still.

1. Wonder womans blade can cut him because it's magic and two because it's so damn sharp that it can carve an electron off an atom. There is literally no blade on earth that is that sharp.Which is why it's a godly blade.

2. kryptonite blades mixed with magic. Both are kinda cheating. I gave the first one a pass based on it's sharpness being so absurd.

3. Phasing/intangible blade weapons. Basically vibrating the daggers at such a high speed that they phase through molecules and are forced to cut you. kinda like teleporting an object between your cells.

4th. Kryptonian daggers can cut superman. Probably because they are made of a material from his world that are just as durable as he is (and it's likely just that sharp)

Alot of these instances conflict with others. So at the end of the day I think it depends on who's writing it and what factors were being considered during the event.

I think the deal breaker is that bioelectric force field that covers superman's skin. Wolverine has had trouble cutting through force fields over and over again.

@manofthunderbolts65: That was during a time when Wolverine was at the height of his popularity and adamantium was made to out to be this indestructible metal.

In recent years wolverine should be able to pierce new and rebirth superman, but if we used superman from the same era as the wolverine who pierced thanos, the pre-crisis supes he was made out to be indestructible and has never bleed in the comic or died only post crisis and new 52 supes have died.

Overall using current versions wolverine would be able to pierce Superman no matter how illogical it sounds, like how he pierced gladiator despite him hypothetically being incapable of producing enough force, but kryptonian bones will definitely stop adamantium

Hard to say his claws have cut through many high tiers but high tiers have also resisted it before like Thor.

So I gonna assume it’s gonna end up like with Thor, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.

Question is would he be able to be killed by a few of such attacks?

Primary Adamantium seems to be virtually indestructible aside from mega haxxed abilities like reality warping. thing is Wolverine is just a low end superhuman character and he still manages to cut through super durable characters, imagine what he could do if he had Superman-like strength and speed.

And Pre-Crisis may have a lot of high ends but iirc he has been harmed by far less.

If they were in a comic together, it would depend if the story needed it to happen or not...

But from what we know, most likely it would but not fatally injure him, but he would definitely be hurt by it.

Depends how you wanna view it.

Technically wolverine doesn't have the strength to Pierce Superman's skin.

But...

Wolverines claws are sometimes shown as "uber" magical like weapons that can Pierce through beings skin even though he shouldn't be able to.

So would it likely happen in a comic, sure...should it be considered to in a Vs debate, no...

Yeah but what's even better is when fiction avoids such problems and presents them more simply, aka fodder, in this case Wolverine, endowed with strong weapons cutting durable ppl without the requisite force needed to do so.

Yes fiction does that sometimes, but as the man who provided like a hundred scans said it is not completely consistent.

True but it's consistent for Wolverine, if it wasn't for other characters we could apply it to them.

@professorrespect:When did Ultron get cut? I tried searching for a scan of that and came up short. Besides isn't Ultron supposed to be made of adamantium just like wolverine? The ONE thing he definately shouldn't be able to cut? As for Thanos, he's technically been cut before by blades that weren't wolverines claws before. Not to mention that thanos was revealed to in that arc have LET himself be vulnerable several times while wearing the infinity gauntlet. Heck he could be as weak or as strong as he wishes to be with that thing. Even while fighting thor it's actually stated that he enjoys pain like some kind of masochist which maybe another reason why he let wolverine stab and damage him despite the obvious power gap.

In fact it's not like there aren't things Wolverine hasn't failed to cut before. It DOES happen. For example, He fails to cut

1. Arch Angels wings

2. Wonder Man in his ionic form

3. Mister Cleans chemically treated skin

4. Mrrungo-Mu's skin

5. Carver Morlocks "impenetrable" skin

6. Kimura's super dense skin (technically most of that is from X-23 failing to cut her many times but she did face off against Logan once and even then she doubted he could cut her) There was also this ugly purple monster that she couldn't cut without the hulk's help. (I know, I know, she's not Logan. However the fact that she uses two claws instead of three means more force is focused into her strikes so it kinda evens out. same logic for how you can rest on a bed of swords or needles if theirs enough of them to distribute the force)

Then there's the little habit he has with force fields and how often he fails to cut them

1. Unus's Force field

2. Juggernuaght magic force field

3. Invisible Woman's force field

4. Quasar's force field

5. Hellfire Knight power armor force field

6. Guardian's Battle-suit force field

7. Stryfe's telekinetic force field

8. An alien spaceship surrounded by a force field

9. It's implied he couldn't cut through iron man's force field until after Black Panther Disabled them.

10. There was another one with Laura and a robot but I forgot to post that one.

In the ultimate universe, Wolverine failed repeatedly to cut hyperion. I know, not 616, but it felt worth mentioning. Gladiator getting cut is also suspect based on the fact that he's been cut by things other then wolverines claws in the past. Plus his power fluctuates based on his "confidence" to much to get a reliable judgement on. However even if that weren't the case, Superman was shown to take multiple hits from the Persuaders Atomic axe which was so sharp it could cut through just about anything. it even Cut a whole in the fabric of reality and yet still failed to cut superman (his suit got cut, but not his skin) and that was swung by a man with enough strength to send supes into orbit, so much stronger and with more force then wolverine.

@segamarvel: Ultimate Wolverine was ripped in half by Hulk, among other things. It very clearly doesn't come close to it's 616 counterpart. No point in bringing him up.

Just like the people Wolverine has cut, Superman has been cut before. Wonder Woman's tiara, Equus's claws, Deathstroke's sword (with a little boost from Supes's own hv) were able to cut him just fine. Yes, he is extremely hard to damage but it doesn't mean he is completely invulnerable to everything thrown his way. Logan's claws are pretty much designed to cut through other hard to damage folks.

But like with every other character, his success rate changes between writers and time periods. Just like Superman's 'force-field' -- the number of times where it's treated like an actual force field is virtually nil. His durability is treated like your standard stuff. And I don't think force-fields are his claws's kryptonite, if that's what you're going for.

@brucerogers: Actually it's possible that ultimate wolverine was only pulled apart because his ligaments aren't made of adamantium (he wouldn't be able to move otherwise) Wonder Woman's weapons are magic, so it's not a one to one comparison. The only ones that kinda count is Equus's claws (who is much stronger then logan anyway) , and Deathstroke's sword (which even you admitted was amped by supes heat vision).

I don't think the force field is the only reason. Because Unlike guys like thor or Hulk, he's got both tough skin and that bioelectric aura going for him at the same time. So the comparison to other heavy hitters just becomes more suspect. Is it possible that Wolverine could cut superman? Possible. But as you said, both characters success rate changes based on writers and time periods. So it's very possible that both parties are correct depending on who you ask and which angle it's being interpreted from.

Not disagreeing with you btw, you could be correct, But I believe that I posted enough scans of exceptions to put it into question at the very least.

@segamarvel: WW's tiara may have magical origins but it's not magically designed to cut anything -- it's just very sharp. Superman is vulnerable to magic, not allergic to it. It's not kryptonite. Which is to say the magical weapon will only do to him what it is magically designed to do. Was it explicitly said it is cutting him because it's magical?

And sure, the people who have cut Superman pack a wallop by themselves. Not denying that. But then again, the same can be said about the folks Logan has cut.

@brucerogers: To be honest, I don't know, But I wouldn't put it past it being magically able to cut most things. Otherwise it shouldn't have cut him in the first place. It's the only way to explain such a plot hole by your logic. Plus it was thrown by wonder woman of all people....and somehow came back to her like a boomerang. That's not normal. It's likely that magic bypasses Superman's aura and his skin has to tank the rest, which is why a magic lightning bolt for instance might hurt him but not fry him like it would you or me. Regardless, wolverine isn't magic so it doesn't even have that going for it.

Heck Wonder Woman herself is an example of a character who can go toe to toe with superman and yet not share his same level of invulnerability to piercing weapons. Hulk and Hyperion got cut by a weapon that cut atoms, which is the same kind of attack that superman resisted against the persuader. Even Thor got cut by ice of all things (maybe it's magic, I'm not sure, all I know is it happened) and somehow Hulk got a bite taken out of him by a big gorilla (comics can be weird sometimes) Heck Thor and Hulk have both been seen getting haircuts (Hulk even got a mohawk) which is generally something superman can't do without using heat vision to shave. Their durability just functions to differently. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though and missed something)

Yes but the people that Logan has cut aren't a perfect comparison to superman who's durability is two fold with that aura and skin. Hulk for instance has been cut by much less such as wolverine's regular bone claws as well as the Wendigo. Red hulk got hurt by Elektra's blades and angels feathers. Whether or not Logan has cut people as strong as him is not the factor that matters, after all, they aren't the ones using the claws, Logan is.
