The lycanthropy makes their transformed form very durable and resistant to injury.

Werewolves (using comics, legends, and An American Werewolf in London as sources):

• can kill a grown man with their normal strength with ease
• can break through all kinds of barriers, including metal doors that are being reinforced
• can wreck a car without serious injury to themselves
• can be hit by a vehicle at normal speed and walk away
• are immune to damage from normal weapons
• can take a fall from a significant height without injury
• can take shots from normal bullets (but not silver ones) without serious injury
• some of the comic book werewolves, like the Jack Russell Werewolf by Night, can lift a ton of weight
• they can endure long periods of exercise without tiring
• they can regenerate their bodies after injury

Werewolves are not natural animals. They are supernatural and everything about them is typically “super” in some way. The few werewolves that I can see losing to a Mammoth would be the Wolf Man from 1941.

This guy above though doesn’t hold a candle to nearly ninety percent of the other werewolves throughout fiction. Even in the remake of The Wolf Man (2010), the werewolf in that would tear a mammoth apart.

At least 6.5 feet tall and likely 300 pounds.

Was fast enough to easily outpace any man and leap great distances.

Strong enough to decapitate a man with a swipe.

Giant claws and razor sharp teeth that would tear into a mammo with ease.

Could only be stopped through the supernatural means of a silver bullet.

And it isn’t a dumb creature either.

If mammoths was having issue with Smilodon's, then imagine what a Wolf Man would do to them.

And imagine if the werewolf was one of these…

These guys also hugely outweigh and tower over mammoths. There’s no fight here unless the mammo learn to fire silver bullet loaded assault rifles. Werewolf wins.

The harry potter werewolf is probably the most debatable mainstream one and I still give it a win. The Underworld Lycan or werewolf should win. The Twilight werewolf DEFINITELY wins since it can kill a vampire in a 1 v1 and those vampires are insanely powerful.

@akz: Sorry to disturb you, man, but please lock this. It's a mismatch, the werewolf is supernatural and the mammoth was an normal animal just like any other.

Traditionally werewolves are only vulnerable to silver items, bullets, swords etc.

I see no mammoth doing it, so the outcome is a certainty for the werewolf.

@chainsaw-man: Twilight werewolves (shapeshifters you’re thinking of) bite through diamond hard skin like butter and can kill waves of enemies with a ridiculous physical advantage over them-newborns. Newborn Bella, below average in strength by their standards, was no selling Emmett’s strength in an arm wrestle who was putting out enough force in one arm to be compared to a cement truck going downhill at over 60mph. And he was holding back. When he went full force, she moved him arm back just by flexing.

He kicked a rock fragment hard enough to slice a maple tree in half, then it hit a large fir tree and toppled it over- that strength was quite literally nothing to Bella, she couldn’t even feel it and Jacob was slaughtering stronger newborns. He only got incapacitated when he was taken off-guard and blindsided. He isn’t losing to a mammoth.
