That's not good reasoning. There is no author authority in fiction, they are all subject to the writers, even if they get claimed to be the writers. If one above all get's retconned, it's still the decision of the author, a.k.a the decision of an higher authority. To say he is not bound by such concept is not a valid point, considering this.

TOAA never was omnipotent. Nobody is omnipotent in fiction. TOAA, Oblivion are just outerversal lvl beings to that lvl of transcendence they perceives creation as fiction. They are on Limbos lvl at very least what is far below monitors, Darkseid, Lucifer, Michael, Pralaya, Perpetua, Mothernight, The Endless etc.
