Premise:

Back in the day scenarios were a lot simpler and shorter. This is a salute to the old days of scenarios, where there was a single game or objective that you were supposed to compete. For this tournament, a unique scenario-type will be chosen randomly for each match from a list of classic scenario types, such as assassination, theft, hunter/prey, capture the flag, and so on. Some scenario types will include giving you fodder soldiers to command. Others will pit you in head to head matches, or ask you to utilize stealth, or maybe even diplomacy. Thus, flexibility will be key. this will be a traditional build-a-character style tournament, with a few tweaks.

Story:

Dark things are stirring at the borders of this country. Each day they grow stronger, unchecked by a once proud champion. A torch has gone out, extinguished by old age. Malice grows in the shadowy corners. A new champion must be selected before the blackness spreads.

The nation of Javoss must replace their great champion, Aron D’Reath, a living legend - or at least he was. Now he is dead, with even the powers of the champion unable to sustain him. The selection ceremony must be completed for the first time in over 300 years. Eight guilds vie for power, eight chosen Exemplar's thrust into a harrowing tournament to crown a champion. Who will prevail and bring glory to their guild?

General Rules:

  • I will be accepting 7 players (I will fill the 8th slot)
  • Each player is an Exemplar (representative) for a different guild.
  • I will use whatever guild and class remain after the other 7 have chosen.
  • This will be a single-elimination tournament.
  • Each match in the tourney will have a scenario-type and setting chosen randomly from the list provided below.
  • CaV-Style debates will be used, with minor alterations. Speed and simplicity will be emphasized.
  • Limit of 3 posts (Intro, Rebuttal, Conclusion)
  • You may not average more than 2,000 words per post.
  • Combatants have 10 days to complete the debate before it automatically goes up for debate.
  • If one combatant posts in the last two days of the 10-day period the other combatant may request a 2-day extension to make a counter if they are the second poster and need more time to compile a final post.
  • First post can be volunteered for, or will be selected randomly unless certain perks come into play.
  • Last one standing is crowned champion and wins.

Build Rules

  • You will select a guild, class, body, power set, skill set, and an item.
  • Only one person may use a specific character for a specific category. For example, if someone chooses Spider-Man for their powers, no one else may choose Spider-Man for their powers. It will be a first come, first serve basis.
  • The same goes for classes and guilds. Only one person per guild/class and first come first serve.
  • Nerfing may be allowed in certain circumstances but requires my permission first.
  • You may choose anyone from fiction so long as they fit all of the rules.
  • If you are vague or I feel it will break the game AT ANY POINT IN THE GAME, I will enforce Rule 0 (which means I say no and the conversation is OVER).

Guild :

You must select a guild. Each guild grants players a different perk or bonus, but these bonuses remain secret until you select your guild. Once you select a guild you may not change guilds. Only one player per guild. Guilds will be taken on a first come first serve basis. Guild banner descriptions are in parenthesis

Guild Options:

  • Deepwatchers (A stylized black Kraken on a field of purple)
  • Skyhunters - (A stylized white falcon, clutching arrows in it's talons, on a field of sky blue.)
  • Sunspeakers - (A stylized white and black sun on a field of scarlet red)
  • Earthsingers - (A stylized white tree with red apples on a field of forest green)
  • Duskdancers - (A stylized white crescent moon on a field of midnight blue)
  • Truthgazers - (A stylized white eye surrounded by stars on a field of black)
  • Willshifters - (A stylized black sword rising from black mountains on a field of white)
  • Steelshapers - (Two stylized black hammers crossing each other on a field of grey)

Class:

A class typically gives you one specific bonus skill to add onto your existing skill set. Some classes may give more than one skill, or may grant one specific power. Just like everything else only one player may select each class and it is first-come, first-serve. Skills and powers granted by classes must abide by all build rules unless otherwise stated.

Class Options:

  • Captain - Perfect teamwork + free tactical skill
  • Swordsman - Free sword skill
  • Spearman - Free spear skill
  • Marksman - Free marksmanship skill
  • Tank - Free healing Factor
  • Fighter - Free H2H skill (this choice may disregard H2H skill limit)
  • Scout - ONE free enhanced sense (sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste)(still limited to half-mile range)
  • Rogue - Free Stealth Skill+Free Lockpicking Skill

Body

A body is your physical character. It’s you. It must be humanoid (can include extra limbs). It will have the strength, speed, durability, agility, senses, and physical mutations of the character chosen.

You may not have a body with attributes greater than:

  • Strength: 5 Tons
  • Reactions: Bullet-timing
  • Speed: Cannot run faster than 100 MPH
  • Durability: Small arms resistant, would be hurt by large caliber rounds.

Limitations:

  • Cybernetic bodies will not have access to devices such as integrated guns, any offensive tech, or self-repair. These things and others like it that were not listed are considered powers.
  • Senses are limited to a half mile radius (except sight).

Examples:

  • Wolverine’s bone claws, physical stats, and senses would be included (does not include healing factor)
  • Daredevil’s physical stats and enhanced senses (does not include radar sense)
  • Spider-Man’s physical stats (no wall-crawling or spider sense)

Power Set

A power set is a superhuman ability or set of abilities associated with a single individual character. Gambit's kinetic energy charging is an example of a power set, as is Spider-Man's wall-crawling and spider-sense. Power sets must abide by the limitations listed below. Some nerfing may be allowed to fit within limits but must be approved on a case by case basis.

Limits

  • No Reality Warping
  • No Offensive Telepathy/Mind Control
  • No Duplication/Clones
  • No Omniscience/Omnicompetence
  • No Internal attacks/unavoidable attacks (Bloodbending)
  • No Probability/Luck manipulation
  • No Teleportation
  • No Portals
  • No Forcefields
  • No using the Force
  • No power sets that grant more than 5 unique powers
  • No power or move copying/stealing
  • No power nullifying
  • Matter Manipulation limited to Alchemy (FMA)
  • Time manipulation is limited to Kiritsugu Emiya (cannot exceed speed limit)
  • TK strength limited to 2 tons, cannot directly affect opponents or gear on their person.
  • Elemental Manipulation Strength limited to 5 tons, cannot directly affect opponents or gear on their person.
  • Smell and hearing limited to half a mile
  • Healing Factors cannot heal destruction of brain/heart or decapitation
  • Energy Projection limited to house busting
  • You can only be undetectable to ONE sense
  • Precognition cannot meaningfully exceed 616 Spider-Sense
  • Phasing/Intangibility is allowed, but combatants cannot attack while any part of their body is intangible. Also, intangibility can only be used for a minute straight before needing a 3-minute recharge.

Skill Set

A skill set is a learned/trained set of skills or knowledge disciplines associated with a single individual character. Black Panther's martial arts and scientific knowledge are an example of an ability set.

You may not use abilities that allow you to:

  • Somehow exceed the limitations of your physical attributes. For example, a regular human cannot perform Spider-Man's acrobatic feats as he isn't physically agile enough.
  • Master “every known martial art/every martial art on Earth”.
  • Mystical abilities, chi usage, or tapping into the ‘limitless potential’ of your character is considered a power, not a skill.

Item:

You may start with one item. This item could be a weapon like Captain America’s Shield, a suit like the Iron Spider suit, or something more versatile like Batman’s utility belt. Items that go together like Hawkeye's bow and trick arrows are considered one item. Items cannot allow you to surpass the overall physical limits or surpass any power and skill limits. Your item must be compatible with you. For example, only someone with significant superhuman strength and durability comparable to Master Chief can wear the Mjolnir Armor. You may have the chance to add items as the scenario progresses. Uber cutting weapons are allowed but will be nerfed. They cannot cut other special items (excluding suits).

To clarify

  1. Do I choose a specific FMA character to replicate alchemy from? And would Edward himself be allowed?
  2. Is Scar's deconstruction/reconstruction allowed under this perk?

@lunacyde Also for further clarification, does "tactical skill" under the Captian Class apply to someone like Neumann? She has super intelligence that lets her form calculations and anticipate the enemies next attack and outline an optimal course of action

@stormshadow_x: I'm sorry but I'm going to have to say no to using a byakugan as a sense for scout. I intended it to be normal senses such as Daredevil's hearing or Wolverine's sense of smell. I dont want to open pandora's box with these senses that are too crazy and essentially grant superpowers. Class bonuses are meant to give a nice specialization boost but shouldn't be overpowered.
