Overall I have always stated that they have been.

Thor's abilities have been altered overall.

He does not use soul manipulation nor is his wand a magic wand that can perform any feat anymore for mind control etc.

It's much simpler now in use as it has been for nearly the past 2-3 decades.

Think how you will as well. The evidence I use to back up my statement is decades worth of comics.

If you people wish to believe that he can do feats he hasn't performed since the 80's and members of his team have stated that he can't perform some of those feats again (by mentioning he would be useless in certain situations)...go right ahead.

Those of us who actually read Thor books know what he is capable of.

Marvel does not do retcons like DC does as far as powers.

They simply change them.

For example recently Marvel has written that Gambit cannot charge organic items when there are clear scans to show that he had that ability just a couple of years ago. He did not undergo any offical power loss yet out of nowhere he can't do it.

Marvel did the same thing with Warpath. He could fly and then all of a sudden he couldn't. The same was done to Sunspot for a while.

Marvel has not written Thor with many of the ability you "eccentric comic book readers" claim he still possesses.

I put a scan up not too long ago of Thor with Vision recently in a situation where people had been mind controlled and Thor wanted to go help. The Vision then told Thor there was nothing he could do only smash things with this hammer and Thor agreed and didn't go.

Yet just around the time when Thor used many of the abilities you claim he has he broke mind control off a crowd.

Once again, Marvel has changed abilities without doing official retcons like DC.

How many decades needs to pass before you could admit that perhaps Marvel has decided to change how Thor's hammer works?

How many more situations must he be put in where those abilities would come in handy yet he never uses them.

I understand that Marvel needs to write down some of their characters (especially when they are on teams) or people like Thor will always come in and solve it but even in his own book by himself when worlds are at stake he still hasn't used these abilities.

The most logical assumption is that Marvel has decided to stop writing Thor this way. Saying that well he could still do it seems like you are implying that Thor is a living being and could actually still do these things even though his writers (the people who give him life) have made it quite apparent that these abilities are now absent.

DC does retcons. With Marvel, you simply have to read the books in order to keep up.
