I think most comic fans familiar with Thor can come to the obvious conclusion that he's been seriously downplayed for the majority of his comic book longevity. With that said, given all his powers and abilities used to their full potential, which superhero(s) or villains do you think can bring him down?

It's not called downplaying, it's called wielding a plot device for a weapon. That said, Darkseid and Thanos.

By full potential, what does that mean ? We shouldn't take his defeats in account ?

Basically means use all his abilities, including the ones that only appeared in single panels decades ago and were never seen again.

But can we take into accounts the times he was defeated or we cannot because "he wasn't using potential then" ? Because if every single ability, that is retarded. He once blocked an explosion of 1/5 universe, although I haven't read that comic myself and couldn't find it in my Thor collection.

Thor would only beat pre-Flashpoint Superman by going wildly out of character and pulling out obscure abilities, and even then it's doubtful.

I know this is lame, but the topic is Thor with all  his most powerful feats... it's not a good topic. but if Thor could absorb a blast from the Phoenix, BFR the Juggernaut, and deflect a blast 1/5 of the Universes power that is quite ridiculous.

One thing about that universe feat though; When was it made? I saw this brought up in another topic, concerning Odins' galaxy busting feat. One of the arguments against the feat actually being credible is that back then people didnt have the knowledge we have today. So its possible that a galaxy back then wasnt as big as a galaxy right now ya know. Now, I dont know the exact date the size of a galaxy was discovered but im pretty sure the size of the universe wasnt even guesstimated until the mid 90's. So its highly plausible that Thors feat is not as ridiculous or amazing as it really is.

But then, if you accept that you also have to accept that Silver Age characters arent as impressive as they really are, right? And it really is a very nit picky approach.....
......maybe its not a good argument....?

@buttersdaman000: To be honest I'm not really sure. I've just seen it posted along with him receiving and returning a phoenix force blast plus more. I could summon a specialist, my buddy @PunkMastaFlex: might take him awhile to get on though. He has 100s of Classic Thor scans.

If I remember correctly, Thor absorbed the energy from the blast, he didnt deflect it.

Thor could instantly go intangible so I doubt it, and how the hell is Superman gonna stop Thor from stealing his soul? This is Post Crisis Superman, not that ridiculous Silver Age one. What is Superman going intangible going to do? Thor is capable of hurting intangible beings.

Ok great! So we're agreed?
If a person can move and operate at a much higher speed it doesnt matter what the other guy can do because he wont be able to hit him!! Makes sense, right??

Everybody on here is such a stickler for scans, feats, and proof yet its always on set bias. Superman has a scan that proves he has nano second reaction time. Thor has.....none. So until he catches up, he loses. Now im not saying OF or Rune King Thor loses. Alls im saying is that Regular Thor, fighting at full potential still gets beat by Regular Superman fighting at full potential.

Well put. I think people are too readily juxtaposing "could" with "will defeat him every time, hands-down".

So how do you explain how Superman gest defeated by guys that are nowhere near as fast as he is? Plus Thor has defeated speedsters before, shown, proven and claimed.

Its not saying that Supes doesnt have an advantage speed and he does, but its gonna take ALOT more than that to win the fight.

@Boobster: @SlimJ87D: @MyronLee26: @buttersdaman000: Grandmaster stole Deaths power and played a game with heroes where he made 5 bombs that would destroy 1/5 of the universe. Thor found his bomb. Created a vortex around it and killed himself in the process.
