What is the Labyrinth?

The Labyrinth is an underground monument of the ancient past. A time said to reflect a far flung future better than anything found in our current times. It was found only two centuries ago despite the outside stone being dated to millions of years ago. Through the millennia it has stood unchanged as forces far beyond our mortal intellect still protect whatever secrets can be found within. Various explorers, heroes, and even armies have done their best to raid the city-sized structure once it had been discovered. The explorers were lost, the heroes faded into mere legends and armies broke into seething masses silenced by the invisible power. Many years later with no headway all of the nations of the world including the Payans, the Xouthans, and even eventually the Otrunythans stopped sending their people into that death-trap. Only recently was a breakthrough eventually reached.

Only one adventurer made any headway into the Labyrinth. He allegedly entered it 5 years ago and only just escaped last month. The man himself was driven into a sniveling mess of madness long ago. His name seemed to have been cast aside at the same time as his mind. His hair white and his skin dyed black made him impossible to identify. Many of the researchers of the Labyrinth speak of him being able to leave at all as a one of the miracles surrounding the man. Another of the miracles being that he left a journal. A notebook full of hectic writings that reflected his journey of discovery venturing into a mad escape in the last half. It recounts fanciful tales of terrible phantasms, vengeful machinations, and a Labyrinth that seemed disturbingly. . .alive. It has been hotly debated among the gatherings of the greatest minds our world has to offer whether any of it can be trusted. The only point that can be agreed upon by everyone is that more investigation is needed. Using the bits of knowledge the most powerful nations of the world sent there own modern adventurers into the Labyrinth equipped with a madman's tidbits of knowledge to hopefully finally pierce the veil of secrets hidden within the Labyrinth. Hope that their greed for its ancient treasures and knowledge does not ruin them as so many before.

Mechanics of the Labyrinth

Guardians

"I have come across multiple beings that I could only describe as the 'guardians' of this place. I am a person with no little skill at sneaking, but even I have had trouble evading their pursuits. Some come in the forms of haunting phantasms and others in the form of golems who may perhaps may just be a case of the first possessing the second. There also seem to be a third form the guardians can take. . . .many people have fallen to this Labyrinth. I recognized a few. Ellis Shadowsworn's resplendent robes and dark aura was unmistakable. His Muffodian style of magic luckily enough seemed to not have as much of an effect on my Payan wards though. I saw what I presumed to be Lethril Gravesword due to his signature sword walked past me, yet I was able to avoid him. A couple of other 'people' were there that I could not identify. They all possessed ashen sunken skin that gave them a dead-like look, which made enough sense due to their presumed deaths long ago. The ones I had the displeasure to converse(shortly) spoke with the same voices of the phantasms."

Building Characters

You get 2000 points and must have at least a body. There is very little if no specific gear/powers/bodies, so you will get the chance to choose your own to fit the prices listed below. Many of the ranges are meant to allow for a more diverse range of power levels. For example you can have Spider-man's spider sense for 300 points or Assassin Spider-man's more advanced pre-cog for 500 points.

The section below is there to note the hard-line limits of your powers, skills, and gear.

Powers

- A power constitutes one single superhuman ability. For example with Spiderman you could only get his wall crawling or Spider-sense. Not both.

You may not use powers that include:

• Time Manipulation
• Teleportation
• Probability altering (good or bad luck)
• Mind control or possession of any kind
• Force fields above the durability limit
• Pheromones
• No amping yourself past the top tier body limits
• Power Negation/Mimicry/Absorption
• Teleportation
• Magic( you can check with me to see if it is limits)
• Cloning/Summons

Limitations:

• Energy projection cannot be above building busting(like a building the size of your average house)
• Powers cannot affect your opponent internally are not allowed (blood bending, etc.)
• Healing Factor- Killing blows to heart or brain cannot be healed.
• Telekinesis cannot be above 20 ton strength. Can only lift/move objects and form melee weaponry and armor.
• Precognition cannot be above Saber or Rose Wilson
• Telepathy is limited to mind-reading.
• Limited Matter Manipulation and Reality Warping that can only be used on nonliving things or yourself. Your range is limited to 15 meters around you. No giving yourself powers.
• Intangibility cannot be used while you are attacking.
• Holograms must be able to be recognizable with at least one sense.
• Poisons/chemicals will be taken on a case by case basis, but generally nothing that could instakill in AoE form.
• Size-changing cannot allow you to go smaller than an ant, above 60 feet, or put you past limits in any way.

Skillset

- An Skill set is naturally learned, trained skill, knowledge, set of skills or knowledge disciplines associated with a single individual character. Batman for example would give you his Marital Art's Skills, Tech Skill and knowledge of the human body ( Pressure Points)

Limitations:

• Mystical abilities, chi usage, or tapping into the ‘limitless potential’ of your character is considered a power, not an ability. (Looking at you Danny Rand)
• No exceeding limits of your Physical body. Someone that chose Batman as a body type cannot perform Spider-Man's acrobatic feats as he isn't physically agile enough.

Special Gear

- Special Gear is a gear used by a certain character. It can not break the rules set by the body or power sections. No stupid gear that you know won't be allowed such as a GL Ring or a tardis.

Ralph Pork

Ralph Pork, formerly known as Mr. Pork, was once a long time married man and committed father to his 3 children. (2 girls and 1 boy) It wasn't until 13 years into their marriage that Mr. Pork returned home early (after being laid off) from the one career he desired in favor of a new hire, a younger and financially based action. Once a proud and very friendly/family oriented boss at the workplace -- Supervised 2 Wal Mart distribution centers -- he was instantly drained both physically and mentally when he arrived home to find his wife in bed with another man. Not just another guy, but his underling at the distribution center, a floor manager in the electronic section had found his way from aisle 12 and into Ralph's wife. Pork meanwhile, offered no violence or assumed retribution that you or I would most likely have attempted. He just heard the moans and screams from outside the door and through the crack of the unclosed door frame and wooden door itself he saw what looked as if a ghost was huddled under the blanket and spazzing uncontrollably; it didn't even remotely look normal.

He just gulped as an unforced reaction; he didn't mean to, and as he felt that slab of beautiful heartache roll over his lifeless chest, he left the scene with the clothes on his back and his car keys. His life would not be the same.

The only thing that brought him joy was the opportunity every other week to see his children for the weekend. They all adored comic books and they'd play pretend superheroes in the 3rd floor loft, Pork now rented by himself, due to the separation with he and his ex-wife. His wife is now with the man she cheated with; he (Trent Dolan -- the other guy) and they are engaged. His wife has not since show an ounce of remorse for the incident that wreaked havoc upon their once "happy" family. She only offered a sideways glance and a half ass apology while watching Ralph pack his belongings.

"Is it because my name is Pork...? Ralph asks while shoving the last box, this one filled with alphabetized work documents from the job no longer hold.

Is that why you did this? He asks as he leans against the Sedan they had once bought together and they trade glances -- Ralph hoping to salvage whatever tiny bit of connection they both may still harbor for each other. She assured him she held no feelings in the slightest for Ralph with her following statement.

"...I have to go.." She said as she motions Darley (their St. Bernard) back in the house. "You too Darley...You... You know what? Screw it. You smell bad. You smell really bad anyway." Ralph sinks into his recently professionally cleansed interior and starts the engine. His children stand side by side and wave to him as he pulls out of the driveway; his back tires do not hit the street before tears leave his eyes. Then nearly smashes into a group of bicyclers racing behind him.

"Hey, watch it a**hole. Look where you're going bastard." "Sor...sorry.."

Ralph swallows his pride and continues on with life. He now runs a low rent storage facility and regardless of his personal woes that would make almost any other man plea for assistance, from anywhere, he carries his head high and treats his co workers (all of 3 of them) with respect and a hopefully humorous attitude. Even still, the walk through his front door is dread when his kids aren't there. The same discount meals and Great Value sweet tea remind him only of what he has lost. His day consisted of this for a year and a half. That was until that night.

Going about his sulky and depressing routine, Pork was flipping through channels and eventually landing on a Monday Night Football broadcast that no one wanted to watch (Dolphins vs Cowboys) but that channel, ESPN, is where he stayed until he heard a scream. At least what sounded like a scream. Pork muted the televised action and barely made his face visible as he peered out of the window from the bottom right frame; only using the right eyes= to view what potential was out there. Self defeated and put through hell for a long time, it would be absolutely understandable and acceptable for someone as useless as him to not venture outside and to remain safe inside his cubed living quarters. Instead, Ralph did the opposite. He did not know what compelled him to do it; he just acted. He could see and realize what was going on but it seemed as though he was being controlled by a puppeteer of sorts -- man behind the curtain if you will. He didn't even bother with shoes. He just headed outside to meet the night and to locate what that shrill and sky piercing shout he heard from his recliner. He even dropped his ginger ale and half of it had spilled across his lap. It wasn't until the night breeze hit him did he even check to notice the wet splotch across the top of his sweatpants. He even turned back to revisit his home and change clothes but something kept beckoning for his arrival and he knew this. He did not know why though. Why did he feel such an urge to head into wilderness and brush; he didn't even have a flashlight, yet he wandered anyway.

His travels were constant for about a quarter mile or so, and upon his ending, he came upon an orange glowing sphere. Set nicely and clearly with purpose on top of a large stone. Near eye level to Ralph Pork. It's illumination vibrant and commanding if you dare to look at it. It's aura forced you to draw closer to it. Ralph did this, and before he reached his item of great intrigue, he was seemingly attacked and constricted by a large mesh like web. It was indeed a black net and 8 shadowy figures moved in a cohesive alignment and followed behind it's grasp of Mr. Pork.

All he recalls is very quick and blur like images. A bunch of white light, what seems like an operating room, loud rock music, and very few verbal hints at what happened to him.

"The fact he got that damn close to it is unreal. We haven't seen that since the last one failed eventually 18 years ago. We still don't fully understand the properties of that artifact; let's not screw this one up too."

Ralph remembers nothing else. He is now here, in this place, with no idea what is going on, if his kids are okay and unsure of what is meant of him.

All he has is a note:

"Those crazy a**holes, Glad I could get you out of there. Take care of yourself Ralph. Too big of an explanation and nowhere near enough time -- There's a whole bunch of things you gotta experience for yourself. We'll be watching."
