This is less of a debate than a question. So the Haitian's power is to cause the mutant to not be able to use their powers (basically making them depowered). Now the phoenix on the other hand is not a mutant power, but rather a force that uses a mutant host.

The question then, will the Haitian be able to supress the phoenix, or will he only be able to take away Jean Grey's base abilities?

The Haitian from heroes doesn't affect a mutant gene, that isn't how their powers worked.

@mr_ingenuity: heroes was all about "evolution". Mohinder's studies were all about finding a way to control the mutations. Every episode started with "the next mutation in the evolutionary cycle". So I think it's safe to assume that it is infact how it works and he surpresses that power, thereby surpressing their gene.

My question however is if he would be able to surpress the phoenix because it's a force and not a gene

Ingenuity is right, that's not how his powers worked.

The power was a limited form of telepathy, he could remove memories or suppress someone's ability to use there powers (something X-Men telepaths have done) and he could be resisted so the Phoenix would stomp.

@tinyford: I remember it coming from their nervous system. Sylar was able to copy abilities by learning how their brain worked.

Maybe their is a genetic factor I don't remember but there doesn't seems to be much concrete evidence.

The most important question of your thread is this comic or movie Jean?

@mr_ingenuity: yes the nervous system also played a role in this. In heroes reborn it was explained further but due to the fact that "mutants" were copyrighted they were called "evo's". The pilot of heroes reborn spent a bit more time explaining this than the series ever did.

Well actually not any Jean, just Phoenix, it could be cyclops phoenix as well, I'm just wondering if The Haitian can stop the external force or only the mutant. For example would Wally West still run in the speed force and beat the haitian or will he not be able to access the speedforce because the Haitian cuts him off.. but I'm specifically wondering about phoenix

@dextersinister1: what do you mean he could be resisted? I recall Sylar being too strong for him to hold for longer than 2 minutes but no other form of resistance?

@tinyford:Well then your thread is better suited for general discussions. I didn't watch reborn but I would have to say no to say no the Haitian powers doesn't have the feats. The Phoenix force has shown it can suppress & activate the mutant gene.

The Haitian isn't strong enough to do anything to Jean or the Phoenix. He only really uses limited telepathy, and it's not powerful enough at all.

Heroes was massively inconsistent when it came to their power origins or even how some of the evos powers were suppose to work for that matter.

As for the topic, no Rene can't do anything to Phoenix. He can't effect machines, electricity, fire, nuclear energy or anything else that's powered by an energy source. He also has a clear limit as shown when he passed out trying to prevent Arthur from trying to use his powers.

Even if the Haitian can suppress the powers of X-Men mutants, he isn't anywhere near as strong enough to do a thing to the Phoenix Force.
