The "Does Kratos Always Lose?" Gauntlet

Setup

Now don't get me wrong - I think we all love Kratos. He's a great character. But, is his skillset kind of exploitable despite his all round power? Let's find out in this gauntlet of street to low mid characters that Kratos should be able to beat. But will he?

Rules

• Kratos runs through this gauntlet from start to finish. Even if he loses round 2, he carries on to round 3 and so on and so forth. Please state how you think he fares in each round. Whilst the gauntlet will increase in power, you may feel Kratos can beat character A but not B etc.
• This is Kratos as he was at the end of GoW, just before fighting Zeus.
• His opponents are versions stated.
• In-Character, but everybody fighting to the absolute best of their ability.
• No knowledge
• No prep
• Win by death only
• Fights take place on the top of Mt Olympus, where Kratos fought Zeus at the end of GoW II.

He should easily clear from what I know. But then again this is specfically Kratos before he fought Zeus and I don't know his versions.

Clears easily. He fought Atlas who holds the earth

The hunter is street to low mid tier? When dealing with Soulsborne games you must consider lore feats rather than gameplay feats.

I probably should of just said GoW III Kratos mate lol.

Strength isn't everything my friend.

I agree with this to an extent, but there is still nothing lore wise that would put the Hunter above street level in terms of stats. He has some magic that is described as being powerful which I kind of take as hyperbole, and feats of beating things like the Moon Presence through special circumstances.

Outside of his verse, what do you think puts him above those tiers?

He isn’t a great character, he’s a selfish meat head who ruined the world because of his revenge quest that was started partly because he’s a bloodthirsty killer. Anyway:

1. Don’t know who this is

2. Kratos wins

3. Slade shoots him in the head

4. Wolverine blitzes and cuts his throat

5. Kratos wins

6. Gorgon blitzes and cuts his throat

7. I don’t know if Wesker carries any bladed weapons, if he does he blitzes and cuts his throat, if he carries guns he shoots Kratos in the head

8. I don’t know who this is

9. Anderson blitzes and cuts his throat

10. Nero blitzes and cuts his throat

11. Not far enough into OPM to get to Garou

12. Sonic blitzes and cuts his throat

I’ve said it before so I’ll say it again- anyone blur speed or above with a bladed weapon can beat Kratos. Need proof- watch the Hermes fight scene and imagine him with a knife instead of slapping Kratos.

The problem with Kratos is that he doesn't stand much of a chance against characters fast enough to speedblitz him but my interpretation was that he excels at taking out anyone just as slow or slower than he is with brute strength. Kratos is a bit of a glass cannon, no? As for the gauntlet, I'm not really sure.

Kratos has two major drawbacks which hold him back, 1) His lack of combat speed 2) His cutting and piercing durability

The first can be circumvented if you take him to be a lightning timer from his fights against Zeus and WoG. Depends entirely on your viewpoint.

The second is an issue though, Apparently he can be hurt by arrows but admittedly I ain't a GoW expert so take my words with a pinch of salt.

If you take him as a lightning timer, he can clear till Wesker at the very least I'd say.

Why?

• He has no way of putting Wolverine down
• He has no cutting/piercing resistance
• He can't lock blades with Wolverine
• He doesn't have any good combat speed showings
• His weapons can't cut through Wolverines limbs

Could stop at Nero or clears.

@socajunkie: was he at full power when those happened ? Are you sure they were not magical ? If yes then Atlas feat is a massive outlier

- Wolverine will need much more than Claws to deal with Kratos.

No, in fact all he needs is his claws. Kratos has 0 resistance to piercing weapons. Logan could literally blitz and one shot him.

yes and that’s all he’s going to do here take hits, Kratos is out here physically matching Kronos so he’s definitely has the advantage here.

His physicality is completely useless against someone who has insane damage soak.

on top of that it’s not easy to blitz someone who has dealt with teleporters and Hermes

Logan has dealt with teleporters as well. The boots of hermes aren't even that fast, the allow speed bursts (which aren't even that fast) for like 3 seconds.

Kratos has no advantages of Wolverine whatsoever. The fight wouldn't last 5 minutes before Logan takes his head off.

If so then God Kratos wearing the indestructible psp version of his God Armour stomps all of them simultaneously

I don't think he was and it wouldn't be an outlier since it was a strength and blunt force durability showing rather than piercing or cutting Kratos' lack of resistance to the latter has remained consistent throughout the games.

What speed feats does he have?

Consistently speaking he's an arrow timer.

Then he definitely isn't clearing.

Yeah it doesn't work like that, we go by shown feats and evidence during the game as they take priority over contradicting author statements.

Kratos has died in the games.

Only know up to seven, but from that he clears with ease.

Lightning timing, jumping up falling rocks fast enough to make them appear stationary etc.

No it isn't. When a writer's word contradicts shown feats or lack thereof, we go with the feats. The author of Eragon has said he could strike 20 times per second when his actual combat speed isn't as fast as that based on feats.

Plus, ya know, Kratos has died in the games so his statement doesn't mean anything.

Not sure about the rest from round 8 onwards, but Wolverine beats Kratos.

The guy has died multiple times and not even the gods in the series were immortal.

He most likely meant Kratos is ageless and won't die by natural means.

Kratos never lightning timed in-game, he only did it in a non-canon commercial which can't be used.

Wolverine has moved faster than the eye, which is faster than making falling rocks look near stationary, you can still see them slightly moving.

You might want to learn the difference between blunt force and cutting because you keep equating the two so you don't have a clue. Resisting Atlas has nothing to do with cutting damage,

@socajunkie: cutting is about pressure and overcoming ultimage strength of the material. pressure caused on kratos is around 10^26 Pa. Its more than Quadrillion times what knifes and swords cause.

simply such strength is easily enough to destroy atoms.
