Strange can solo if Validus is the strongest member of the team. I don't know about the Five as a whole, however. Defenders likely have the power advantage, but in terms of teamwork, both aren't fantastic at the moment.

The Defenders stomp

The Defenders are one of the most overpowered super hero teams in history and I freakin love it. I’d give anything for a solid run on the title with the big 4 just them handling the most cosmic, mystical and zany situations possible all the while demonstrating their immense power. Hell give it to Morrison or Ellis.

Man, either of those two would be perfect for the book.

@thor_parker82: they would absolutely kill it, Al Ewing would be another great pick to take the reigns. I could see Greg Pak doing a great job with it as well as they’re all some of his favourite characters and he’s done work involving all of them (seminal run on Hulk, fantastic DS GN, great SS mini and a What If Namor one shot and short story both of which were solid).

@andromeda101: PC versions

That makes it very unfair to be honest.

1. PC Validus even made a sun eater (which casually destroyed solar systems) retreat (trying to save Projectra)

I'll have to hunt up the issue to check, because I cant recall at the moment if he was still amped at the time. An issue or two earlier Tharok had used some anti energy to amp all the LoSH and the fatal five to face Sun eater (while doing so he implanted something in Validus to allow him to control him). But at my best recollection he had used up that amp fighting the Sun eater first and his platform was taking him back to safety when he came to projectra's defence.

Even so, Pre Crisis Superboy stated once that Validus was ten or twelve times stronger than him. It literally took the combined might of Superboy, Mon-el AND Ultraboy just to knock him off balance.

2. Emerald Empress' Eye of Ekron was supposed to have "nearly unlimited power".

No Caption Provided

It could basically do what a GL ring could except where a GL is at power level 8 the eye had the dial turned up to 12. It also didn't have a weakness to colour. Though I recall in Adventure comics it was made inoperable for a while by Kryptonite. I think post COIE it was changed to be an actual creation of the Guardiasn of the universe with a link to the GLC

3. Mano's hand could disintegrate anything it touched and had planetary level destructive capability. He literally destroyed his own planet.

No Caption Provided

4. Pursuader's Axe could cut through anything. He could cut energy even cut of forces of nature like Gravity.

Tharok is the only insignificant member.

There's no denying Strange and Surfer can go up against any member of the FF the problem here is that Hulk and Namor simply aren't in the same ball park. If you make it Classic Strange, WBH, and Pheonix Namor we,d probably have a good fight. Or make it post Crisis FF

Strange is the only factor, without him the Defenders get stomped and solo’ed by Empress, with Strange Defenders Stomp

Pak wrote Surfer and Doctor Strange books ? That's good to know, I'll be checking them ASAP.

Pak wrote Doctor Strange: Season One. It's a very good book featuring Strange during his early days as the Ancient One's apprentice. I personally also like it because it goes as far to establish Dormammu as one, if not the strongest and most prominent mystical entity out there. Heh.

Quite frankly, I think Pak is among the few modern writers together with Waid and Straczynski to give Strange the respect he deserves. I definitely recommend his book.

I'll definitely get those

If by PC you mean Pre-Crisis then FF.

Strange can BFR and hax half of them but Validus physicals are ridiculous.

Post-Crisis FF get stomped.

If PC refers to Pre-Crisis and BFR is out, then I'd like to see some arguments for how they're dealing with the F5.

If it refers to Post-Crisis then the Defenders roflstomp.

I dont know about the defenders stomping post Crisis. They certainly would win but I see the FF at least making a fight of it. But yeah pre cisis Validus is a beast of another type. He could simultaineously one shot pre crisis Superman, Mon-el, and powerboy.
