In a turn of events, instead of Coruscant, Grievous has been tasked with the invasion of Mandalore, and beats the Republic to it by several days/weeks, enough where Ahsoka cannot make it in time to intervene. Palpatine is still desperate to have Maul captured after the events of SoD, and doesn't intend to let him go this time. Darth Maul, who was expecting Obi-Wan Kenobi, is met with a massive CIS Fleet above Mandalore's orbit and assembles his armies for a final struggle against the Separatist leader, General Grievous.

As the siege begins, Grievous easily makes his way to Maul's throne room, where he patiently waits for the Droid general. Accompanied by two IG-100 Magnaguards, he storms in and is met by Darth Maul who is guarded by a group of Mandalorian Supercommandos (6). Outside the palace, Gar Saxon leads the Mandalorians against the CIS invasion force, conducted by a Super Tactical Droid.

  • Fight takes place where Maul fought Ahsoka
  • Grievous gets 4 lightsabers
  • Maul gets his saberstaff
  • Grievous must capture Maul, but would risk maiming him in order to win
  • Maul intends to kill Grievous once and for all
  • Canon

This thread is why I love @void_reborn

OT:

Basically, I mostly have Grievous and Maul fights to go either way, this fight however has some variables and circumstances to consider:

  • Maul is not in a good mental condition as he is obviously hindered like he was with Ahsoka but Grievous not being able to hit a lethal blow while Maul is going for the kill cancels this out.
  • Mandalorian Supercommandos are more effective in this fight than IG-100 Magnaguards, due to the fact that Grievous is not a good Soresu or Shien practitioner to block/deflect blaster bolts and has no range attacks with no Force powers to incapacitate the flying guards. While Maul's unorthodox Juyo style is perfectly fitted to battle the General and slice through the Magnagaurds at the same time.
  • While The General stats and style is a good counter pick for Maul's energy-consuming stamina draining style, He can drain Maul pretty fast with his attacks from all sides without giving openings to Maul's outmaneuver based counter-attacks couple with Maul's inability to have a good defense to counter Grievous, and he is completely capable of rushing an onslaught over Maul to cripple his movement and usage of Force powers but he is not doing that with all these blasters firing at him.
  • If Grievous is not focused on Maul even for a tiny bit, which he very well can occur with these conditions, Maul's main advantage comes in to play, He can abuse the force to get an easy victory

While I think this specific Maul will lose to Grievous due to his mental condition, the circumstances are against the Cyborg General, and I think it's enough edge to give Maul the majority for the fight.

Darth Maul more often than not.

Indeed a pretty interesting thread!

The Magnaguards will probably be wrecked by the mandalorians pretty quickly, taking down maybe two of the mandos. Meanwhile Maul and Grievous match eachother but after destroying the guards, Maul still has a handfull of Supercommandos against Grievous, adding an edge for the Zabrak. In sabers only, Maul and Grievous are pretty even but in this scenario, I think Grievous would be at a big disadvantage because he cannot hit Maul critically, he has to capture him. As soon as the Magnaguards are down, the remaining Mandos can just shoot at him with their blasters, throw granades or shoot cables at Grievous' legs or arms, as he's fallen for before. With this distraction, Maul can take Grievous down. Perhaps Grievous is also smart enough to realise his predicament, so he would simply flee the scene again. Whether Grievous dies or flees, I don't think Maul and the Mandalorians would be able to defeat the massive numbers of the droid invadors. The Mandalorians he had during the Siege of Mandalore were a big capable bunch of warriors but not a serious army, like the CIS were. Maul probably flees alone and further builds up his Shadow Collective/Crimson Dawn.

What @reaperace said. However, since Maul’s forces are past their best, they lose the battle against the CIS, even though Maul will probably escape. @void_reborn This thread is awesome, you should do more like these!

Thanks guys, I'll definitely try to come up with other matchups like this where it's a twist of the plot.

Grievous swats Maul aside again, as he did on Zanbar while under orders to hold back.

Maul's insane at this point, so Grievous.
