The Armstrong Academy (2.0) Sign Ups (CLOSED)

No Caption Provided

This thread is to sign up for the new and improved Armstrong Academy Scenario. It is a school-based scenario (similar to MHA or Sky High) in which participants learn how to be heroes, or, stray down the dark path of a villain.

Below is an example of the lore, the rules, and how to build a character.

The Story So Far...

Adam and Eve

Long ago, before the dawn of civilization, there were two beings that held control over the primal forces of the universe, Adam, and Eve. These two beings lived in perfect harmony in a utopia known as Eden, it was here that they were protected from the influence of negative emotions and the darker side of the very primal forces they commanded. This went on for thousands of years until one day, rather suddenly, a serpent appeared in Eden, and tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. When Eve bit into the apple she received the gift of knowledge, becoming aware of all the good in the world, while also learning of the bad.

As this new knowledge flooded through her she also became aware of her purpose and was given the burden of childbirth. Her, with Adam, were also expelled from Eden, it's sanctuary no longer welcoming them as they had been corrupted. It was this moment that sparked the beginning of things to come, the conflict that would arise, the eternal fight between good and evil.

The Children of Creation

Previously mentioned, Eve was given the burden of childbirth, allowing her and Adam to begin producing offspring. The process was painful, as it was a division of the forces that made their being, splitting their power to produce two new beings, Cain and Able, the first children of Adam and Eve.

Eve would also give birth to more children, Seth, and Azura. Aside from these children there would be many, many more produced by Adam and Eve, each time, splitting their power more and more, weakening them. While Eve was willing to make this sacrifice, loving her children more than herself, Adam found the loss of his power to be taxing, embarrassing, disgraceful, and so a divide began between the parents of creation.

The War of Adam

Adam was dissatisfied with the idea of having to split his power to father more children and so he left Eve and began plotting to kill her to claim her power as his own. Adam shared this plan with some of his children, tempting them to join him in the upcoming conflict, promising that he would share the power of Eve among them, and so, Cain joined him, along with many others, further splitting the family.

Able caught wind of this plan and informed his mother what his brother and father were planning, and so, Eve began preparing herself for the conflict to come, recruiting her other children before Adam could get to them, promising to protect them from their father, and wanting nothing of their power, as she loved them selflessly.

When the two parents came against one another blood was shed, as the true nature of mankind was revealed, as the forces of good and evil clashed for the first time in the war of Adam. This war would continue for decades until both parents, weakened by the splitting of their power and the years of conflict, forced both of them into hiding.

Aftermath of War

In the aftermath of war several new civilizations rose, created by the children who had survived the conflict. From the ashes came a rebirth as a new generation would begin claiming Earth as it's own. Decades passed, generations were born and died, and empires rose and fell. While not seeing conflict on the same scale as the War of Adam, the children of creation still fought among one another, the knowledge of good and evil still influencing them and their actions.

At some point in time the terms 'Heroes' and 'Villains' were used to describe the champions on each side. Those with powers who fought to defend the less fortunate were deemed heroes, while those selfish enough to fight only for themselves with no regard for anyone else were given the title of 'villain' and these two forces were fated to clash until the end of time.

It is also worth noting that both Adam and Eve had not been seen since the war, some believing that they were still in hiding, trying to recover until they would meet again for a second war, while others believed that they had gone off to die in solitude, ashamed of themselves for the troubles they brought on themselves and their children. Regardless, time would move on without them, and Adam and Eve would become fabled characters in the Earth's history, some choosing to believe in them, while others ignored their story, calling it a fable.

A New Age

With the passing of time came a new age, the modern age, an age defined by it's inclusion of science and technology among the supernatural world that had existed prior. The inhabitants of this age still found themselves powered by the same primal forces that drove Adam and Eve, but the forces had become spread rather thin, and so, it had become possible for those born in this age to have no access to this power. Society, at this point, found itself with only 70% of the population having access to the primal energies of the world.

Heroes and Villains still exist, and a government had been created to try and reward those who act as heroes while punishing the villains. The FBHR (Federal Bureau of Hero Regulation) works tirelessly to promote acts of heroism, encouraging those who choose to be heroes to do so with a ranking system, one based on their heroic deeds and popularity. Of course, there are still those who use their power to try and benefit only themselves, or a selfish cause, and these villains still threaten society on a daily basis.

In an attempt to combat villainy the world has taken to opening schools to train heroes, teaching them how to use their powers for good instead of evil. One such school is the Armstrong Academy, a world renowned center of education run by Richard Alexander Armstrong, the number one ranked hero in the current day and age. Armstrong fights for the good of the many and puts others before himself, proving to be an extraordinary hero, one that will be talked about for ages.

Of course, you could take such a path too, learning from Armstrong, bettering yourself, becoming a hero. Will you do that? Will you answer the call? Will you become a hero? Will you help protect this world? Only time will tell, and at the present moment, only one question matters.

Who, are you?

Scenario Rules

These are the rules of the scenario:

Posting Rules

  • Posts should have an element of RP (role play) to them.
  • Advancements will occur as frequently as I can manage, likely every 2 - 3 days.
  • Failure to post at least once a week will result in a disqualification + removal from the scenario.
  • Tag me in each of your posts.
  • Avoid meta-gaming to the best of your ability, please.

Combat Rules

  • You can attack other players; however, if an NPC sees this happening they may respond. You've been warned.
  • You must prove why your character could beat another character via debate/scans/etc.
  • If you fight against an NPC then the host(s) will determine your success or failure.
  • If you fight against a PC then other player(s) will determine your success or failure.
  • If you fight against a PC then the post deadlines will be quick. This is to keep a single fight from taking 2/3 weeks, as it would ruin the pace of the game.
  • Looting a fallen friend or foe is allowed.
  • Death is a possibility in this game. You've been warned.

Story Rules

  • We share in telling the story. I will try and include as many elements as you provide me with; however, if something is world breaking or is nonsense then I may have to ignore that portion of the story.
  • Actions have consequences.
  • NPC foes/friends may be more powerful than you and do not adhere to the scenario limits. Some may also have some plot powers because a character in fiction doesn't exist in the way that I need them to, so some powers are made up. Just a heads up.
  • Have fun with it.

If there are any questions, ask!

Character Creation & Class System

To partake in this scenario you must first create a character, to do this you must choose a character class and build the character with the class limitations. Each class will require you choose a body and a skillset, but certain classes have different limitations, and some may allow for a power or unique weapon/piece of gear. Choose a class that fits your play style, and don't stress too much about making the perfect choice. There will be opportunities for your character to grow (level up) throughout the progression of the scenario.

Aside from the mechanic side of this, please also provide an image of what your character looks like and a short background of who they are, where they're from, likes/dislikes, etc. Your character will be attending a high school so they are likely 13/14/15 years old. Keep this in mind.

Note, if you want your character to be a different 'species/race' then talk with me. I do want to keep this mostly human, so don't get too wild, but also want you to be excited about the characters you can play as. We have some vampire players, so as long as it isn't too crazy, I'm sure we can sort something out.

Here are the general rules for each part of character creation.

Body

First you must choose a body. The body is where you get all of your physical attributes, including the following:

  • Strength - How hard you can hit (striking) / How much you can lift (lifting)
  • Speed - How quickly you can move (travel speed) / How quickly you can react (reaction speed/combat speed)
  • Durability - How hard you can get hit (blunt/piercing resistance) / How other effects may affect you (elemental/poison/etc., resistance)
  • Senses - How you perceive the world around you. Some senses may be too great and will be considered a power because of how enhanced they are (being able to track people from blocks away or read minds because of how well you can hear are examples of this)

For each of these categories there are specific limitations. Be sure to look at them and follow them. It may be tempting to try and find a body that gets as close as possible to all of these limits. I suggest you use a body that you're comfortable with that is well within the limits, you will have opportunities to enhance your physical attributes during the course of the scenario.

You may not choose a body like Superman and NERF them down to the limits.

Skillset

You will choose a set of skills for your character. You do so by choosing an existing character, and then you gain all of their skills.

An example of this would be if you chose Batman. You would obtain the following skills:

  • Batman's Martial Arts
  • Batman's Knowledge of Pressure Points
  • Batman's Detective Skills
  • etc.

You get the picture.

There are however rules that you must follow when choosing a set of skills:

  • No skills that allow you to memorize/copy/replicate the skills of other players just by observing them. This goes for characters like Taskmaster or Jin Mo-Ri.
  • No skills that include mystical abilities/chi-amplifying/accessing the 'limitless potential' of your character, etc., anything of this nature is considered a POWER not a skill.
  • No skills that exceed the limitations of your physical body. If you chose Professor X for your body and then picked the skills of Spider-Man then he would not be able to perform his acrobatic feats; his body wouldn't allow him to.

Follow those rules and you'll be okay.

Powers

Some character classes have access to powers. There is a high degree of character specialization in the creation phase for this scenario. As you grow and learn in this world you will gain more versatile abilities.

Regardless of what class you choose the following power limitations are in place:

  • No reality warping
  • No time travel/time manipulation
  • No probability altering
  • No pheromones
  • No teleportation
  • No cloning/duplication
  • No power stealing/copying/duplication
  • No insta-kill moves (tele-frag/death touch/etc)
  • No internal attacks (blood bending is an example)
  • No intangibility
  • No precognition (future sight; Spider-Sense is okay, a danger sense is okay, but nothing that tells you exactly what is about to happen and let you plan 5 moves ahead constantly)
  • Telepathy is limited to street level telepathy such as Gorgon or Mister X. Cannot use their power to attack, only read minds. Limit may be reduced as scenario progresses.
  • Telekinesis cannot be used directly on people or gear. Strength of telekinesis is limited to that of their physical body as per build requirement. Limit may be reduced as the scenario progresses.
  • Stat amplification cannot exceed limitations of the body.
  • Healing Factors cannot be so great that you can regenerate from a single drop of blood or a small piece of flesh, killing blows should incapacitate or KO at best.
  • Energy Absorption & Projection is limited to tank busting blasts. If a blast has more power than that you will be unable to absorb it all and will be hurt.
  • Magic is a case by case basis, talk with me if you wish to use magic.
  • Invisibility cannot make it impossible to sense your character. There are some "invisibility" powers that remove scent, sound, etc., which will not be allowed.

Other powers not listed here may have specific rulings, but those will be found in the class selection.

Classes

Physical Class

Class Archetypes: Barbarian, Fighter, Monk

No Caption Provided

The physical class specializes in using brute force and close quarters combat to overwhelm an enemy. Their bodies are the strongest out of all of the classes. Often times they have a physical mutation, such as additional limbs or wings. They may also develop powers that enhance their combat abilities, such as a healing factor or hardened skin.

Build Limitations

  • Strength: 10 Tons
  • Durability: Bulletproof / Small Building Busting (ex: Tombstone or Netflix Luke Cage)
  • Speed: Non-Casual Bullet Dodging (ex: Batman or Captain America)
  • Body: May choose a body with a mutation (extra limbs, wings, etc.) OR a defensive/supporting power (stone skin, regeneration, etc.)

At the start, this build does not get any special gear or weaponry. They MAY choose a body that has a physical mutation (such as wings or extra limbs) OR a defensive/supporting power.

Powered Class

Class Archetypes: Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Bard, Druid, Cleric

No Caption Provided

The powered class harnesses the creation energy in a way that allows them to do one of many things such as force field generation, elemental manipulation, or energy absorption, among other things. They may develop powers similar to their original power manifestation to further strengthen it or develop an entirely new sub-class of power, with enough training.

Build Limitations

  • Strength: 2 Tons
  • Durability: Not Bulletproof (ex: Batman)
  • Speed: Casual Bullet Dodging (ex: Cassandra Cain)

At the start, this build only gets one power.

Gearhead Class

Class Archetypes: Artificer

No Caption Provided

The gearhead class isn't physically strong nor do they have any powers but their minds are unrivaled. To make up for their lack of "power" they have trained to hone their skills both on and off the battlefield. It is because of this that those in this class are expert engineers and/or enchanters, able to work wonders with technology and enchantments. It is unlikely that this class will develop any further powers; however, it isn't unheard of for a gearhead to experience a late-developmental power.

Build Limitations

  • Strength: 2 Tons
  • Durability: Not Bulletproof (ex: Batman)
  • Speed: Arrow Catching/Dodging (ex: Katniss Everdeen)
  • Gear: Allowed one piece of unique gear on a case by case basis. No suits (Iron Spider/Iron Man/Bat Suit) as they come with too much technology/abilities. Sample gear is Spider-Man's Webshooters, Captain America's Shield, etc., also gear does not need to be technological in nature; think of this class consisting of engineers & enchanters.
  • Skill: Allowed one extra skill (not skill set) at the start (ex: Batman's hand to hand, Iron Man's Engineering, etc.)

At the start this build does not get a power. This build does have access to a function known as the workbench, in which they can spend inspiration points to build a new piece of gear.

Workbench Explained: The workbench operates like a shop. Throughout the scenario, via missions and interactions, you'll get inspiration points. Inspiration points are a currency that can be used to unlock new blueprints and create new gear. This is for both technological and magical items.

Cybernetic Class

Build Archetype: N/A

No Caption Provided

Those in the cybernetic class don't have an authentic connection to the creation energies like organic beings do; instead, they were built and programmed by an engineer or scientist. More often than not, a cybernetic hero is given an AI that allows it to develop a personality, thus making it appear more human. To improve themselves a cybernetic hero may receive an upgrade that grants it additional strength, gives it tools to complete certain actions, or weapons that emulate powers.

Build Limitations

  • Strength: 5 Tons
  • Durability: Bulletproof (ex: T-800)
  • Speed: Non Casual Bullet Dodging (ex: Batman)
  • Integrated Weaponry/Technology: Must follow body/power limits as per the rules. Can choose the integrated technology of another body (ex: T-800's Body w/Cyborg's Tech)

At the start this build does not get a power. Their body becomes cybernetic with the integrated technology of another character.

Beastmaster Class

Class Archetype: Beast Master

No Caption Provided

Those in the beast master class are able to command animals or summons due to an unbreakable bond they've developed with said being. As they grow they can choose to either beef up their beast or work more on improving themselves. Their powers are usually related to summoning or have some support related function to help their fiend in combat.

Build Limitations

  • Strength: 2 Tons
  • Durability: Not Bulletproof (ex: Batman)
  • Speed: Arrow Catching/Dodging (ex: Katniss Everdeen)
  • Fiend/Summon: Allowed on a case by case basis. Strength should not exceed 5 tons, durability should not surpass bulletproof durability, speed is non-casual bullet dodging. Number of summons depends on their strength. Must be an actual animal/summon, not a user generated character.

At the start this class does not get a power (unless it is the power to summon something) but, they do get a fiend/beast to use in combat. If they choose to summon their fiend/beast then they do not get an additional non-summoned fiend.

Example Character

Here is just an example to help you.

Character Name: The Example!

No Caption Provided

Build Information [ Powered Class ]

  • Body: Batman
  • Skillset: Cyclops
  • Power: Cyclops' Optic Blasts

Character Bio Information

  • Name: Example
  • Age: 12
  • Likes: Octopus / Flying Kites / Ice Cream
  • Dislikes: Bullies / The Dark / Rule Breakers
  • Bio: He was born in a place, his parents did a thing, now he want's to go to the Armstrong Academy to be a hero, or something along those lines. Maybe his backstory is a bit more tragic, maybe he has something to prove, maybe he's bored, maybe this is his life goal, who knows, come up with something that you'll want to develop over the course of the story.

Fictional Heroic Spirit - Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works (TV) OST

Backstory:

If one where to travel to the eastern lands of the Sakuraba Forest within the the lands of Ulysses, they would find many beautiful sights. The widespread trees, luscious wildlife, sublime mountain ranges, all of which make the quintessential spot for camping and relishing in the tranquility of the natural world. Though their are rumours of travellers hearing swords clashing in the middle of the night, and whilst they are passed off as just that, rumours, there is some truth to what they hear.

Within these forests live 2 gentlemen, one of which was 13 year old Tanjiro Xin, a young man who, after his parents vanished due to unknown circumstances, decided to travel around the world by himself as a way of finding somewhere he felt he belonged to. The boy was an optimistic fellow, if a socially awkward one, always trying to see the best in people, if only to try and bring some kind of fulfilment. This led to one faithful day, when he was doing to odd-job around the local town he was going through, it required him to go through the Sakuraba Forest, which at first seemed like an average Autumn's evening, until on his way back from getting the monthly food supply, he ran into a tall, looming figure wielding a giant scythe, his insane strength sensible to even the most feeble of mortals.

"My name is The Composer. You who is adrift in this cruel world, whom wishes to exists for a purpose, come with me and I shall teach you the meaning of how to live." As he spoke those lasts syllables, a jolt of unknowable force went down Tanjiro's spine, and before he knew it, a sword was suddenly in his palm, but beyond that, something about this strange man spoke directly with Tanjiro, so the moment he delivered the goods to the village, he rushed back to the forest, and began to study under this Composer.

And so Tanjiro became a student of The Composer, training day in and day out to become as strong, quick and efficient he could be with the powers he has been given by this strange man. Tanjiro didn't know this mans purpose, but what he did know was that this procedure he was a part of gave him something to strive for if nothing else.

A couple years later, Tanjiro has become an incredibly deadly bladesmith, albeit still not even close to Composer's level, so his studies continued, until one day The Composer came to Tanjiro with a message.

"You have 2 years, go to Armstrong Academy, I assume you know the way. Become as powerful as you can be, you may also feel free to look into anything you find interesting. Then return and challenge me to a duel. That will decide if you've found what you seek, little Producer." (Producer being the codename he was given when they started training) And just like that, with a final glisten in his glowing eyes, The Composer was ready to be gone, without a trace, but not before Tanjiro called out to him.

"Why did you choose me? Why am I the one who has these abilities? Who even are you?", to which The Composer paused for a moment before responding.

"Have you heard the stories of how this world came to be? Their is some truth to them, your parents would know more than I would." He then turned around and smirked at the boy, his cape blowing in the harsh winds "You're a good man, don't let that be tarnished, Tanjiro Xin."

Who was The Composer, and what does he know about Tanjiro's parents? Was the origin of the world talk just rhetorical, or was there something more? And what was his role in all of this? All Tanjiro knew was that he had 2 years of both practice and studying ahead of him, and he's not about to waste it.

@thetruebarryallen: alright here we go

Jenny Sparx "Parakeet"

No Caption Provided

Name: Jenny Sparx (Hero Name: Parakeet)

Nationality: Bulgarian

Sexual Preference: Gay/Lesbian

Age: 17

Likes: Birds/Flying/ The Outdoors/Retro Gaming

Dislikes: Confined Spaces/Desolate Lands/

Jenny came from a peculiar family. Bill and Diane, Jenny's parents, were normal people who live normal lives. They have never once had a history Superpowers in their family trees. Normal in every way except the 5 kids, 2 boys and 3 girls they had all were Superhuman. Jenny was the eldest and therefore she was to be the example to her brothers and sisters.

Her Brother and the 2nd Eldest child Daryl (16) was a brick. He was strong and tough and he liked to think of himself as the protector. Jenny had the closest relationship with Daryl and he was very supportive in helping Jenny in her life. It was Daryl he suggested Jenny go to Armstrong Academy.

Her twin Sisters Elise and Analise were psychics... Elise could move things with her mind and Analise could read minds. The two were inseparable and shared a close bond, however they were not as close to the other 3 siblings due to this.

Rounding out the pack is Milton the youngest and, perhaps, most troubling of the children. Milton was able to communicate with dead. He could be seen talking with, what appeared to be, himself. He would know things before any of the other children would as well as Analise didn't like reading his mind. This power ostracized him from the rest of the children

Jenny was, physically, on the weaker side compared to her brothers and sisters, but she was gifted with a Sonic Cry. Jenny was able to utilize this sonic cry in vastly unorthodox ways. After many attempts at jumping off trees and landing, badly, Jenny was able to achieve flight. Jenny also found that when she regulated her voice it could cause people to be adored by her, she could convince people to do what she wants.

Jenny always liked flying with birds, she often could be seen up in the air with them. It's what she would do when she wanted to think or get out of range from Analise. It was Daryl who came up with the nickname "Parakeet" for her and she stuck with it ever since. Growing up Jenny would work on controlling her sonic cry with Daryl, as he was the only one Jenny knew that could be around her sonic cry. Eventually Jenny was able to focus her scream into accurate bursts as offensive weapons.

She comes to the Academy because it was Daryl's suggestion, and she quite honestly wants to live up to his expectations. She brings with her an extensive collection of retro gaming and games for when she's required to be indoors. Included in this collection is a Gameboy Color, Gameboy SP, DSlite, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, PS1, PS2 and the Gamecube the best console of all time. Of course she also brings along a collection of games because for some reason she was not allowed to bring her massive hentai collection. Thanks Obama

That'd be fine. I would likely require you to consume protein as well for the regen to keep up over time.

@thetruebarryallen:

The Build:

Gearhead Class:

Body: Shadowman (Valiant)

Skillset: Doctor Doom (Marvel)

Item: Charon's Claw/Gauntlet (Feats Below)

Note: The Gauntlet isn't technically part of Charon's claw; but it has been used and in conjunction with it for decades to protect certain wielders from it's disintegration powers (it'll literally murder anyone who it doesn't deem worthy of it, and the gauntlet protects people from that).

Copy/Paste below from another thread.

Charon's Claw (Combo)

A powerful artifact and weapon. This combination makes him the ultimate mage killer, and gives him a host of abilities that make him a force to be reckoned with. It also makes him a force to be reckoned with against people with healing factors and the like.

Charon's Claw (Gauntlet)

This powerful artifact allows the user to detect magic being used in the area, and against him. Additionally, any magical attack used within range of the gauntlet (directed at or near enough to the user that they can physically get in the way) can be caught, stored, and redirected as the user needs. It's also a powerful magic item with durability to stand up to pretty much anything. (It's a gauntlet though, so it only covers one forearm and one hand).

Below is an example of the gauntlet's limits. Now, the Crystal Shard holds enough power to blow apart buildings and level cities. Entreri is able to absorb most of the power of a single blow, and is later able to unleash it to blow apart the wall of the Crystal Shard's Tower. Which can withstand powerful explosions without harm. This was later shown to be enough power to blow apart one wall of the Crystal Tower, which can stand up to a fireball. So it absorbs a tank-shell level attack, basically.

The second two scans involve him absorbing another spell and then later sending it at a different wielder.

The final scan is him using it to detect scrying. It can identify certain magics being used as well, and identify what kind of magic it is (psionics, arcane, divine, etc.).

Charon's Claw (Sword)

Description:

No Caption Provided

The first thing you'll want to know, is cutting power. Charon's Claw cuts through metal like butter. It also defeats magical wards, guards and shields with ease. There are several showings of it slicing through people (should to shoulder, and across two sets of ankles) without slowing him in the slightest. It's also shown to cut through a stone wall with absolute ease.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

Another skill he uses often, is the sword's ability to conjure ash walls. With a single slash, and at will, he can generate an opaque ashen wall that hovers in mid air. This is left int he wake of where the sword slashes. Now, these things are as durable as ash, so someone can plow right through them with absolute ease and without obstructing their speed. He mainly uses it as a way to blind his opponent, or to help him feign and attack.

It's an ability he uses liberally.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

It also generates a light around him that nobody else can see, even those who see magic. It actually conceals his aura somewhat, and makes him invisible to those seeing through the infrared and ultraviolet spectrum. It can also easily defeat a globe of darkness.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

Another handy ability of the sword, is that any cut from it is fatal. Not immediately; but any wound from the sword will not heal naturally, and requires powerful, curse removing magic to heal. All wounds from it burn incredibly, fester, become infected, and eventually kill the victim. Basically, a cut from Charon's claw is not healing via any healing factor (magic or otherwise), unless you can prove it removes curses.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

Additionally, the sword does grant him some ability to prevent his death. It can resurrect him if it chooses to, and has done so in the past when he tried to kill himself.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2

Finally, this sword can disintegrate anyone who touches it, and cannot overpower it.

That should be all you need for that.

Alex Morgan aka the Punchaneer

No Caption Provided

Name: Alex Morgan, Hero Name: The Punchaneer

Age: 16

Likes: Hitting stuff / Honor / Responsibility

Dislikes: Killing / Carelessness / Weapons

Bio: Alex likes to hit stuff, like a lot. Despite being born in a small body her physical strength was unhindered inherited from her parents strong people of the mountains she was trained to use her strength efficiently and with tact. Having a simple life led to simple morals killing is bad unless absolutely necessary you have great power so use it to find a better solution. These we're the teachings her parents hammered into her head. She yearned to move to a city where heroes and villains clashed, to make a difference. But her parents warned her of trying to seek combat, "You have no enemies" they told her. That doing so would only led to hardship. She gained her hero status when trouble came looking for her when greedy business men tried to clear her mountain village to get access to the ore and lumber her homeland offered being the only one wanting to put up a fight and she did. Leading to a small career of being a hero in the small mountainous region, gaining the name Punchaneer for primary use of punches, but she found it kinda annoying since she did way more than punch but it stuck. Later she was given an opportunity to go to Armstrong Academy for her work and potential as a "pro" hero, from an unknown benefactor. Wanting the best for their child they sent Alex off to Armstrong Academy to learn and grow may than she ever could in her mountain village.

Rado Kaffka

  • Theme
  • Class: Cybernetic
  • Body: Ultimate Hawkeye
  • Skillset: Ultimate Hawkeye
  • Integrated Technology: Bloodshot Nanites(Regen+Stats)

Backstory:

Born into the Russian immigrant family of the Kaffkas, Rado quickly grew into his predestined role as the black sheep of the family. Without any outstanding skills nor powers, he often lived in the shadow of his two older siblings, Aleksander and Zoja. His father, Dragan, became cold and indifferent to his troublesome useless son after the death of his mother leaving Zoja as his true primary caretaker. Dragan threw himself into his Private Military work by both creating new innovations in warfare and taking on "security contracts" himself with occasional help from Aleksander. Between working for the Reunited States government and trying to take care of Rado, she could never get a handle on Rado's perchant for shoplifting, pranks, etc.

At the age of 13 while between graduating from middle school and entering highschool, Rado met with a terrible incident. Zoja had to partcipate in an elongated confidential mission, during which she could not contact anyone, leaving Rado alone for several months . She sent him to some friends of the family in Russia to watch over him while she was gone. Unfortunately soon after entering Russia, he was drugged and kidnapped. His self-defense training from his family kicked in though as he escaped into one of the rougher neighborhoods of Moscow. For the next year and a half no one knows what had happened to Rado nor why he had been kidnapped exactly. After completing her mission, Zoja had flew straight to Russia to find Rado, but she found no success in finding one boy in the whole of Russia. It was only due to rumors milling around Moscow of a masked serial killer and the possibility of him being Dragan Kaffka's son that Dragan himself sent investigators including his top men to find Rado before his reputation could be tarnished. What they found after a month of searching was a high, drunk Rado rampaging through the streets every night killing off Russian mobsters. A whole squad of Dragan's more experienced units were all hospitalized before Zoja made it to Rado to take him down herself.

Once Zoja towed a comatose Rado back home, a multitude of questions were raised upon examining Rado's physical condition. His genes had undergone several illegal modifications granting him a twitch factor and increased eyesight. His blood possessed nanites that while not as efficient as those built by the world's finest still beat anything out on the market. The haphazardly spliced together gene modding, the nanites, and his chemical addiction all combined together to make Rado immensely mentally unstable and left gaps in his memory big enough to drive trucks through. When asked what happened during the time he had went missing Rado only responded by saying he had been on a rage(and Elysium) driven quest for vengeance against anyone connected to his kidnapping. Due to his circumstances he had no idea where he had received his augmentations.

Zoja and Dragan argued fiercely over what to do with Rado until eventually he was presented with two options. Either follow his sister's footsteps or join the Kaffka family business. Rado chose Armstrong without hesitation. He entered the academy after a few months of mostly successful rehab and less successful therapy.

@thetruebarryallen: Just feeling out the various classes:

Could I choose a robot and get some of their robotic functionality as the "physical mutation" for the Physical Class?

If I choose a power, do I get it at the skill level of the original user (IE: Earthbending at Toph's level or some rando Earthbender)? Furthermore, do I get requisite sub-powers to go along with it?

If I chose something like Batman's Suit with the Gearhead Class would I also get his utility belt and thus all the gadgets he carries with him?

Can cyborgs gain "physical mutations" through the hybridization process?

If I chose Beastmaster, could I chose a small human-ish body for my character and a more human-sized creature for my summon? Does the summon have to be Biological?t

Can we get real world equipment?

"Heya!~ My name is Natalya Vasiliev, nice to meet you!~" *Chu* -blows kiss- "I like sweets, blood, and long walks at night.~"

*cough* Looking in the direction of the sound, I notice my cousin Lia coughing into her hand.

"Hmph. дряблая грудь." I return. Her face flushes red for a moment.

"I am the eldest daughter of the Vasiliev family of Volgograd, Russia. My cousin over there with the дыни," I say, pointing at her indifferently, " Is Lia, from a smaller, side branch of the family." Then, with more enthusiasm, "And that chick in the back," pointing at a blue, pale-skinned girl in the back, " Is my bestie, Uliana! люблю тебя!" I finish, making a little heart with my hands at her.

"Anyways!~ I'm here because Daddy doesn't seem to like how I've been behaving." And then, as more of an aside, "Хотя из того, что я слышал от мамы, он намного хуже в моем возрасте. So, he sent me here to see if Uncle Armstrong could help! So, Пожалуйста, позаботьтесь о нас!~" I finish with a curtsy.

@thetruebarryallen: Do we have to be human? o:

It's a world of humans, mostly, so yes. You could have a physical mutation if you choose the 'Physical' class, but there aren't multiple species.

Sorry if that's limiting, but there is a fantasy scenario already happening.

All very good questions.

  • Robotic bodies w/integrated weaponry/robotic functionality is more suited for the Cybernetic class. I could allow a robot body for the Physical Class, but it wouldn't come with any of it's integrated tools or anything of the like, just the physical statistics.
  • For powers, yes, it's likely in most cases you would have the skill of the original/named user. The sub-powers seem like a case by case basis depending on what they are/what they offer. I don't want any one person coming into this scenario with the ability to handle a wide variety of threats, as the situation is that these "heroes" are all very much new and untrained.
  • I think Batman's Suit and his Utility Belt would be considered two different pieces of gear, but if you chose a utility belt then I would likely include the standard gear seen in the belt/assortment.
  • Cybernetic's can get physical mutations, like wings or extra limbs. For aesthetic purposes they may be robotic.
  • Sure, you could have a smaller body for the player and a larger body for the summon. The summon does not have to be biological, it could be robotic or supernatural, or something else.
  • Real World equipment would be fine for any class that comes with gear.

I hope these answers are satisfactory/help.

@manaman: Looks good, just so you know though, you, as a GEARHEAD get a skillset and then a SINGLE ADDITIONAL SKILL.

So you could have MCU Stark's entire skillset and then one of Hiro's individual skills (Engineering / Hand to Hand / etc.) and this is there to give these characters combat abilities, as a lot of the engineer/builders don't have much for fighting skills, so giving them another characters fighting skill helps them survive among the other classes.

Not sure if we're supposed to start complaining this soon but composite RoboCop is definitely over the durability limits for Cybernetic class. The guy pretty much no-sold a city block sized explosion at point blank range and regularly takes building sized explosions without any damage.

Also what is the limit on physical mutations exactly? Are they just additional bodyparts or what?

Age - 15

Bio:

Nia is a member of one of the few branch families of the great Vasiliev family. She's also a vampire. Due to the introduction of technology, and more specifically, the internet, she has never had a reason to hunt, though. Instead, she orders blood online with the vast funds available to her through her family. Her unwillingness to experiment with her vampiric abilities has led to her developments stagnation, however, and as such she has only developed a single ability: high-speed regeneration, one of the most basic abilities a member of the clan can possess. Her situation is so dire that her vampiric teeth and claws haven't even grown in yet. Due to both her development and the fact that having a vampire help people would go some ways to erasing the image people have of them, she was sent to Armstrong Academy alongside her cousin, Natalya of the main house.

... no matter what anyone else says, she absolutely wasn't ordered to accompany Natalya by the main house to ensure she didn't cause a catastrophe. That definitely was not the case.
