The Omega Beams. I don't know if Thanos' eye beams have any other feats than that.

Well both eye beams have failed to insta-defeat certain targets. Superman is infamously resistant to Darkseid's Omega Beams despite Darkseid one shotting Agog who was treating Orion like a ragdoll and Thanos only grounded Hulk with one eye beam attack, and he needed two shots to KO Thor in a comic where he fought Thor, Thing and Spider-Man.

Despite not killing Superman (like that's an easy task) Darkseid's Omega Beams have defeated several other characters in one to two shots.

Thanos rarely uses eyebeams.

Omega Beams wins due to more feats.

@nerevarine_11: Has that been actually stated in a comic before? I'd find it very funny if Superman has literal plot armour when it comes to Darkseid's Omega Beams.

@lvenger: I heard it had something to do with The Source? Again I'm not sure, but for reference when Spectre (HJ) killed Darkseid he came back and was like "I'm too important to die here".

@nerevarine_11: It's a fan theory. Nowhere in the comics has the important to the universe thing mentioned the Source or the Omega Force.

@nerevarine_11: That would be extremely convenient if true.

@nerevarine_11: It's a fan theory. Nowhere in the comics has the important to the universe thing mentioned the Source or the Omega Force.

But now I remember hearing about this being a fan theory before. I guess it is just pure durability or plot convenience that enables Superman to tank them.

Thanos's eye beams have -

  • killed Phyla-Vell
  • Two-shotted Thor
  • Destroyed one of his clones
  • Easily floored Hulk
  • Incinerated Cancerverse Hulk
  • W the final attack he used against the Maker
  • Thor with some of the Odin Force was struggling to push through them

The omega beams just seem more powerful as they have a name , they both are awesomely powerful but I would say the omega beams have possibly had more feats while thanos' eye beams are rare but ate variable in power so arnt as consistent

@New_World_Order:

IIRC It was an Amped Thanos clone that performed that feat.

Thanos has overall powers which surpass Darkseid. I don't believe Darkseid has ever done anything that impressive with his Omega Beams, his 'godly' status notwithstanding. Thanos can draw on more power from cosmic energy to increase the power of his eyebeams, while Darkseid needed help to take down Imperiex. Darkseid's omega beams are comparable to the Asgardian Destroyer's disintegration beam, which can level a planet. Thanos can destroy a planet merely with his fists.

@cauldronnugget: Darkseid needing help to defeat Imperiex isn't so bad, since Imperiex is, like, universal.

Avatar image for cauldronnugget
#31 Posted by CauldronNugget (10 posts) - - Show Bio

@full123: Agreed, but given Darkseid is a product of the Godwave, isn't he also supposed to be universal? Him collapsing the multiverse with presumably the power of all the New Gods and the Source does not count, because that's not just his own power. Just referenced that to differentiate personal power from gathered power. If he can access the full power of the dimension (Anti-Life entity?, not sure) from where he draws his omega powers, then that's probably different.

It was a clone that should still be inferior to Thanos with the amp.

I would still hold that high given it's plausible Thanos could actually do that given his feats.

Thanos has destroyed his clones before, and although this one was more powerful than the usual ones, I don't think it's more powerful than Thanos who has gotten upgrades since then.

Thanos's eye beams have plenty of good feats, already mentioned in this thread. Omega beams are mostly hype and have been deflected/tanked on numerous occasions.

Omega Beams by far. They can instantly vaporize Superman+-level beings if I want or I can just make it hurt a lot. They don't miss (which is a huge plus for me since I have extremely bad aim), and they are extremely versatile.

@goldchamp101: Well thanos has stated that he is superior to his clones during infinity abyss , with the exception of omega , but his clones are pretty powerful considering that an imperfect clone"made the universe scream" when defeating the all encompassing rot

Thanos's overall energy projection > Darkseid's overall energy projection.

Thanos's eye beams < Darkseid's Omega Beams.

If I'm not mistaken that "universe scream" feat happened with being amped by Death too (who wanted Rot dead too). I was corrected before by someone in the know, but can't remember the details...

@krleavenger: Wasn't some of Darkseid's power used to help destroy a universe?

Avatar image for krleavenger
#43 Edited by KrleAvenger (26340 posts) - - Show Bio

@acrokat: Maybe his life force and overall power. In some forms he is way abov his Regular levels but based on pure damage output and normal consistent showing, I think Thanos surpasses him. By the way, Thanos's full power "made the Universe scream". Not sure how that could be calculated but it could kill Rot who destroys everything he comes in contact with. Even pure matter, energy and even space.

Avatar image for acrokat
#44 Posted by AcroKat (7384 posts) - - Show Bio

@krleavenger: "Made the universe scream", Thanos is known as a scary guy around the universe, that statement can mean it made people across the universe scream, do you have the page so I can see?

Aside from from Dr. Fate using his power to help destroy a universe, the only other time I remember him using a form of energy projection that wasn't his omega beams was when he touched Kalibak and disintegrated him right there. Other than that Darkseid just uses omega beams so I'd still say that his power is stronger since I have yet to see Thanos actually disintegrate people like Hulk and Thor.
