Alright so there's a lot wrong here. So, first off, no. Those two scenarios aren't at all comparable. Peter has been shown before to throw punches hard enough to break his knuckles, where he put everything into punching Morlun, but failed to actually hurt him.

Ben did something similar. He punched Hulk with everything he had and ended up shattering his arm. If he had say failed to oneshot someone weaker than Immortal Hulk repeatedly, then it would be an outlier without doubt. But since it doesn't contradict any previous showings from Ben and it is, again, his strongest ever attack, its fair game to use.

@panzerx: well via scaling thing should be able to knock the surfer seeing as hulk should be above him and thing should at least be able to stagger thanos if were taking in his KOing punch into account

Things punch shattered his entire arm, it was a one-time thing basically he had to quite literally put his life on the line to achieve that punch, personally i see it as one of those 1 in 10 or 1 in 100 lucky punches you throw. It happens, Hulk has broken Onslaughts physical form for instance when all other Marvel heroes couldn't even hurt him with 1 punch. Anyway Thing doesn't exactly need to use that punch here, Supergirl is no Hulk.
