Scar, Ishvalan's Revengeful Warrior

Introduction

is a nameless lone serial killer and vigilante who targets State Alchemists for his own brand of lethal justice in accordance with the fundamental tenets of his religion and for the revenge of his slaughtered people and family.

Skillsets

Alchemy

Scar's method follows the cyclical flow of transmutation, but only takes into account the first two steps - comprehension and deconstruction. By "stopping at the second step", the physical structure of whatever he targets is broken down and not reshaped, essentially reducing it to debris. By applying this method to his victims, he destroys their internal systems instantly while circumventing both Human Transmutation and the Ishvalan stigma associated with giving new form to one of God's creations.

Strength and Speed showings and Alchemy

As a former warrior-monk of Ishval, Scar is extremely adept at hand-to-hand combat, boasting significant strength and stamina, remarkable agility and reflexes and deceptive speed. He displays his abilities on the field by subduing a number of armed Amestrian soldiers using only melee tactics. He has managed to kill Basque Grand, a State Alchemist who has been hailed as a combat specialist. His physical prowess was admired by Kimblee to be stronger than his, he also landed a strike that knocked Kimblee several meters away.

Scar's ability to one shot humans already proves him to be dangerous at CQC. He is able to casually blitz the Elric brothers, who previously had bullet timing reaction feat. He was able to rival Ed's automail strength, which was able to withstand the slash and bite force of a Chimera that can easily cut pierce through steel and Ed is able to fight Major Armstrong while going all out. Scar was going toe to toe with the giga chad Major Armstrong himself. Until the latter pulled himself back for Riza Hawkeye to land a shot on Scar, Riza Hawkeye being a veteran markswoman, only manages to put a graze on him. He has bullet timing feat of dodging point blank shots from Riza Hawkeye.

He very oftenly destroys walls, grounds, etc. With the greatest DC feat he has done so far. He has also been able to create instead of just destroy later in the series during his fight with Wrath.

His fight with Wrath increases his speed and durability tremendously, as here are his most notable feats I could find.

Strategy

I'm not familiar with the Mortal Kombat franchise whatsoever, but with the help of the wiki to gain knowledge of his equipment and abilities, I'm confident enough to say Scar can easily win this match.

Offensive

He will go CQC where it is most certainly a risky play, but with the Perk of Invisibility and Spider-Sense on his side, Scar wouldn't need to worry much about Scorpion counterattacking or foolishly escaping with his teleportation without knowing where his enemy's exact location is, only able to sense that Scar is near him. He can make tools with his left arm, then with the Adamantium boost, he can easily pierce Scorpion with it.

Defensive

Scorpion's equipment relies mostly on ranged attacks, such as the Spear or his Inferno Scorpion form can be easily countered with his left arm (the creation) as he can make thick walls to block them off. Or going to the rooftop of a building and making tendrils to strike Scorpion from above where I am most certainly that Scorpion cannot reach with his Spear or any kind of other equipment he has. His teleportation is once again countered as the fact that he won't be able to really pin down Scar's position due to his Perks of Invisibility and Spider-Sense. Then waiting for the perfect chance to land a one shot on Scorpion.

Introducing Hanzo Hasashi AKA Scorpion

Hanzo Hasashi is the lone survivor of the original Shirai Ryu a clan of Assassins almost as old as the realm itself. Hanzo once sought vengeance for his clan's slaughter but after seeing such vengeance only leads to the end of more lives and abandoned his quest now reforming his Clan to be guardians of the realm as it's current Grandmaster and a key warrior in the defense of Earthrealm.

This will be my second time representing Scorpion in a Perk based tourney so I'll follow the same formula of laying out my chosen perks for my opponent and audience as well as the role they'll play.

1. Full Knowledge -

A popular perk among debaters, it turns a character unfamiliar with the full extent of his foe's abilities to an expert on them. An helpful ability for someone with one shoting capabilities like Scar but it also extends to Scorpion knowing of each one of his perks. Nothing will be a shock to Scorpion from his perk for invisibility to his alchemy capabilities. The lost of "element of surprise" will be a big deter to someone like Scar who usually can rely on it in these cross universe debates.

2. Spider Sense -

Like many others in this tournament I opted to receive 616 Peter Parker's Spider- Sense as it's one of the best abilities a street leveler could have. It's a very clear an concise counter to any thing Scar can do especially when paired with my full knowledge Perk. With it Peter has dodged attacks from blind opponents a few feet in front of him while unaware he was in danger as well as been able to use it to virtually copy the Radar Sense to perform actions while blind -

Scar's Invisibility won't be as big as a factor due to the Spider- Sense and Scorpion own inherent knowledge about everything Scar can do with the invisibility, even his ranged attacks are virtually useless as they aren't invisible and give away his location.

3. 1 Piece of Non-Standard Gear -

A piece of gear that Scorpion usually wouldn't have access to, for this tourney I've chosen one of the Kamidogu Daggers which amplify Scorpion's stats and overall fire power. An items capable of increasing physical stats and the elemental power of it's user.

Scorpion's student "Fox" who prior to receiving the dagger was at best a low street level who physically was probably weaker than any character in this tournament, yet after using the dagger he was capable of tearing human bodies casually as well as with every drop of blood spilled he gained more "power" seemingly in the form of a healing factor such as the skin peeled from his face beginning to heal. (1, 2). As well as Scorpion's famous rival and equal Sub - Zero was able to level a building he froze with a single strike (Sub Zero's ice is as hard as steel) as well as buffing his elemental powers to such a degree he was able to freeze the entire immediate area. Now I know scaling to this can be a bit debatable but throughout their long history Scorpion and Sub - Zero's stats, skills, and power have been rather equal but even if I can't convince you of Scorpion being able to perform the exact same feats at the very least it shows a notable amp to his already impressive base stats and firepower.

Prowess Of The Shirai Ryu

I'll be going into this section with the belief that Scorpion outclasses Scar as far as Stats, while it's been awhile since I've seen FMA I'm confident from my opponents opener and memory that save for Scar's deconstruction alchemy he won't hold a candle to Scorpion's physical prowess. I suppose I'd better prove that -

As far as far as overall strength and striking Scorpion is strong enough to pull a fully grown man with his Kunai after puncturing him with it and than punch a hole through his head. This is nothing new for Scorpion but MK characters in general, he can even casually pull out the heart of a superhuman demon which are decently bullet proof. As far as durability I don't see Scar hurting Scorpion with anything but his Alchemy, remember the amped Sub-Zero that one shot a building of his own Steel like Ice, his strikes weren't enough to give Scorpions any serious Injuries as well as similar strikes from Raiden ( Who was also under the amps of the Kamidogu Dagger) who despite using a sneak attack and hitting Scorpion hard enough to cause a crater and make the earth around them rise still wasn't enough to even KO Scorpion. As for Speed yet again I'm going to give it to Scorpion whose shown to be able to teleport out of armor as bullets are inches away from his face and while we unfortunately don't see the fight due the nature of MK being a fighting game we know canonically Scorpion bested Nightwolf in h2h combat and he's is capable of throwing his tomahawk fast enough to intercept and cut bullets out of the air. Finally lets talk about combative skill , I personally don't think this will matter to much due to Scar's arm and invisibility so the battle be likely be who gets hit first but I'd argue Scorpion is no slouch as unlike Scar who's enemies are usually characters with no real fighting skill ( The Elrics, Armstrong, and Bradley being the exceptions to the many more people he's fought) Scorpion comes from a universe where every notable character is a master in at least one fighting style from Kung Fu, karate, military combat, Swordsmanship, berserker style, He knows his way around the block and shouldn't be underestimated.

Next Up I'd like to talk about Scorpion's more famous abilities being centered around his hell fire. First up is arguably his most iconic and useful technique especially against someone like Scar, that being his teleportation which he has no problem abusing , paired with Spider- Sense and already his great reaction and movement speed I don't see Scar ever really tagging him especially due to him being a bit too straight forward and never seems to use his powers in an unorthodox way. A much more straight forward power is his fire manipulation that can be used to enhance his physical strikes and weapons even more , or make projectiles capable of "punching" through an magical clone of himself who would logically be resistant to 3000 degree flames. He's even capable of performing AOE Blast capable of flinging around multiple demons into the sky and killing quite a few on heat alone and this was while he was also teleporting. If Scar truly gets too close he'll be burnt to a crisp or at the very least damaged due to his lack of fire resistant feats.

All in All I feel not only is Scorpion more impressive physically and has the capability of one shoting with his punches/swords but also posses all the necessary mobility to not be tagged by Scar from his teleportation spam to his inherent reaction and movement speed and all of these feats are WITHOUT the baseline buff to his physicals and powers that he has here due to the Kamidogu Dagger in his possession.

Opening Counters

I have a few issues with my opponents strategy and representation of feats so I'll be going through them here.

His physical prowess was admired by Kimblee to be stronger than his, he also landed a strike that knocked Kimblee several meters away.

None of these are inherently impressive to me. Fodder Soldiers, a feetless alchemist in regards to h2h and Kimblee a character who relies on his explosive Alchemy to win fights. None of these examples really hold a candle to danger Scorpion has here save for maybe Kimblee if he has a philosopher stone to buff his Alchemy but I already made it clear h2h isn't too important to the nature of Scar's abilities and perks but in the same feat you posted regarding Kimblee he states he's at a disadvantage due to his body being weak from only recently being let out of jail while scar has stayed in his prime fighting for the same amount of time. Not exactly the best look when he still dodged him despite being slower then who Scar is fighting here.

Impressive but I do think there's an underrated different between close quarters combat speed and reaction speed from a linear object like a bullet. We know Scar clearly is as fast as a bullet so I'd personally say why this speed feat is impressive ( though moot next to Scorpion's better overall mobility) it also comes down to skill scar used to dodge their initial attacks and the fear they expressed earlier in the same fight I think its clear that while Scar is faster that the Elric's are off their game due to fear of Scar and the ordeal they just went through with the infamous "nina" situation.

All cool but the issue is like all alchemy we've seen from the series it has a starting point of use, if he uses it to manipulate the ground of what have you against someone with full knowledge of his capabilities he's begging Scorpion to teleport behind him while he's doing it and be cut, burned, or have his chest busted through. Scar's Alchemy and his use of it doesn't vibe well at all with the invisibility perk especially against someone with Spider-Sense.

I actually feel this feat works very well for Scorpion who basically can do everything bradley can do and more and as we've seen bradley did have Scar down for the count and only lost due to his Ultimate eye being blinded by the moon iirc, in other words blind luck saved Scar from someone who doesn't have the same mobility, range or striking "without" swords when compared to Scorpion.

As I've shown the Spider-Sense basically counters the perk of invisibility almost in it's entirety, and while we both have it my character also has Full knowledge and the ability to better use it due to his teleportation and speed/agility. If Scar does try to get n close he'll instantly be detected and be fried to a crisp or teleported behind and one shot ( He has the spider sense but no clue on what Scorpion can do). Even if the spider sense didn't counter invisibility as well as it does Scorpion still is the more versatile fighter with his power set. I'll need more feats from Scar to say he can even tag Scorpion with his projectiles and even more so to say he could somehow grab and deconstruct him.

If Scar makes any walls to defend himself he's instantly giving away his position as they aren't invisible, that paired with the Spider- Sense would spell his demise. I'd suggest doing more research on Scorpion, if Scar somehow did get on top of a rooftop and started blasting ( good luck hitting Scorpion with Spider-Sense) he can just teleport above or behind him and he does have his own ranged attacked such as his fire which I'm sure can one shot him.

Opening Thoughts

I honestly think Scorpion has this in the bag due to a few reasons -

  • Scorpion's base stats are already more impressive than anything from Scar shown, add on the buff from the Dagger and the gap is even larger. He doesn't have the durability to take any decent attack from Scorpion and be pressed the keep up in the speed department against someone teleporting around him and chucking fire based attack
  • Scar's ranged attacks are useless ( they already didn't really work on an already extremely damaged Bradley) and even worse give away his position due to those attacks not being invisible.
  • While both characters have Spider-Sense it doesn't make anyone untouchable especially someone with a more foot to the ground style like Scar, Scorpion on the other hand has the fighting style, speed, agility, and teleportation to use it at it's best and I've already shown it mitigates practically any advantage a Close Quarters + Invisibility tactic would offer.
  • Full Knowledge minimizes the threat Scar's admittedly broken Deconstruction Arm and even if he does get close theirs nothing stopping Scorpion from blasting him away with big AOE Flames, targeted flames or as I keep saying just teleporting behind him and one shoting him.

I'm willing and waiting to see what my opponent has to offer regarding rebuttals but as it stands I think Scorpion has what it takes to put Scar down.
