Star Wars Tournament: Top 50 Most Powerful Force Users

Welcome to my first tournament! Inspired by @geekryan's Avatar tournament, which was apparently inspired by @batfreak2424's tournaments, so credit for the idea goes to those fine gentlemen.

The Premise

The idea is simple: to discuss and devise a list for the fifty strongest Force users from the Star Wars universe. While some of the top picks may be obvious, there is discussion to be had for the lower spots.

The Rules

I will post a list of candidates, to which the participants may make their own additions if they feel a character worthy of inclusion was not nominated. The tournament host (me) will then create a matchup based off of those listed, and the users will have five days to toss around arguments back and forth - if a particularly lengthy and a quality debate is sparked, the participants may ask for permission to extend the deadline. After the expiration date, a democratic vote will be held for the victor of the matchup, for which the voting time is two days. After a victor is decided, the tournament moves onto the next matchup. However, if the community is unanimous in their opinion on the victor, and no one comes in the other character's defence, the argumentation phase will be shortened to just two days, and the voting phase to one.

All characters are in their peak, unamped iterations, and must be exclusively from their depiction in the Legends continuity, or the classic Expanded Universe, so no Kylo Ren or Rebels Ahsoka Tano or Dark Disciple Quinlan Vos etc., and no Canon feats for characters that feature in both continuities such as Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. However, certain Legends characters such as Abeloth, the Ones of Mortis, the Bedlam spirits, and all other eldritch monstrosities and cosmic manifestations are banned from this tournament as well.

For clarification: the movies and The Clone Wars TV cartoon from 2008 are not considered part of Legends for the duration of this tournament, and therefore feats from those mediums are unusable. References made to those events in Legends sources, or their novelizations such as Revenge of the Sith or Darth Maul: Shadow Conspiracyare counted among valid Legends material and may thus be drawn upon freely.

Once the list is done, you can still request for post-tournament debates if you feel it needs some changes. They will be conducted in this same thread.

This looks pretty interesting! I'm curious to see where people will rate Taalon, since I recall so little of his appearance in FotJ.

Speaking of Legacy, here's to hoping Jaina makes the top 10! I doubt it'll happen, though; it's a shame that Crucible and other later sources barely have feats for her.

I'm also curious to see how characters like Thon, Sunrider, Lumiya, and Cade do, since they seemed pretty interesting, but I don't know much about them.

Looks good. I understand why the Rule of Two Sith are included, and you may be right, but most are still featless.

@amethystgravity: Do you nominate Thon? He isn't on the list currently.

@emperor_jar_jar: Every Rule of Two Sith I included has at least one feat.

@azronger: Oops! I must have missed that! I heard that Nomi is supposed to be his superior, though, so I'm not sure if it would be redundant.

Also, I was just wondering: are these battles just in terms of force powers? That's what I thought from the title, but then I saw Grievous.

@darthfallax: The intermediary Banites will stay; all your suggestions have been edited in; and no, I simply forgot about the Nightsisters.

@amethystgravity: No, it's all-out. Although now that you mentioned Grievous - I only added him spontaneously without much forethought. Do you think I should remove him?

@azronger: Dunno if you should remove GG,but if you keeo him, add Boba, Shimrra and Shedao Shai tbh.

Personally, I don't see a problem with Grievous being in the tourney.

@darthfallax: Nah, I will not add more non-Force users. Grievous can stay since lightsabers are his primary weapon and he is regularly seen contending with even high tier Force users, unless other users feel strongly opinionated against that.

@azronger: so has boba to some degree.

@azronger: Oh, about Grevious. Well maybe you should change the thread's name to 50 most powerful sw characters. I'm also interested on why Nat Skywalker is on the list. He's basically featless.

@emperor_jar_jar: Nah, I'm keeping it as it is. I will not add more non-Force users, but if people continue to think I should because Grievous is there, then I will remove him as this tournament is about those who use the Force, not those who lack it.

Nat is there because he was nominated. No clue why, but if arguments for him can be made I am fine with his inclusion.

I'm not too familiar with a lot of these characters, but I would say that Satele Shan and Galen Marek are two of the most powerful, with Yoda being the most skilled Force-user.

@geekryan: Woah. Why do you think Galen and Satele are 2 of the most powerful?

Three examples for Galen at the top of my head:

1) Beat Vader

2) The Emperor considered him his rival in the Force

3) Pulled an entire Star Destroyer out of the sky

As for Satele, she has shown some extremely impressive displays of telekinesis, both for offence and defence.

But, as I said, I'm not too familiar with a lot of the characters on this list, so there may be better examples I just don't know about.

@emperor_jar_jar: Nat seems pretty solid, I'd need to find the argument someone else made for him. @azronger: Well, Shimrra has basically one feat and hype, used a lightsaber as secondary weapon and is probably > GG. But fair enough.

good thing some of these arguments with be, done within a few sentences.

@geekryan: Satele's feats are pretty good, but I wouldn't put her in the top 20 tbh. She crushed Hex Droids and absorbed a lightsaber blade - others here are vastly superior to people that can throw large freighters; can manipulate a weak singularity that swallows huge ships; have the power of a colony of trillions of beings; can revive people from the dead; or can manipulate time somehow.

@darthfallax: I meant more in terms of telekinesis and raw power though. Would you still not put her near the top for that?

@geekryan: No and no. Many people here have (far) superior TK feats, and raw power is influenced by more than TK.

@geekryan: Satele doesn't really belong here IMO.

Just quick clarification on Galen.

1. Had a massive style advantage due to being trained by him. In near every version of the fight Vader ragdolls him at some point. Galen on really wins via physiological warfare unbalancing Vader.

2. The Emperor said he could have one day been his rival. Not that he was. Palps can one-shot Galen.

3. He tilted an already falling Star Destroyer after a prolonged charge up and fell unconscious afterwards.

@darthfallax: Your suggestions have been added. I also remembered and included Soa and Darth Venamis.

@greysentinel365: Satele has plenty of decent feats, and has already been nominated, so she's staying. Also, you too shouldn't start debating until the tournament begins proper.

@azronger: If that's the bar might as well throw in Aryn Leener.

@greysentinel365: Leneer is already in this tournament. I mean, Satele can at least be argued to be Top 50, tbh.

I like the idea of the thread. But maybe a top 30 would have sparked a stronger debate.
