Shao Kahn is the Emperor of Outworld known for his godlike strength, extreme brutality and knowledge of black magic Like his subordinate Shang Tsung, he has the power to consume others' souls. Later in the series, his abilities are toned down to make other bosses appear superior.

Unlike Shao Kahn, Shinnok relies less on brute strength and fear-mongering, but more on magical powers and ancient artifacts. He is the ruler of the Netherrealm, possessing millions of years' worth of knowledge and power, including the ability to perfectly impersonate any other beings of his choosing, as well as to transform into an immense demon. He also possesses extreme cunning, as well as the ability to manipulate events through others.

Shinnok should be able to defeat Shao Kahn without too much trouble due to his superior magical abilities. Furthermore, Shinnok has had all of this power and knowledge for millions and millions of years. If that isn't a long time, then I don't know what is. So that should give a clue as to who has (and had) more experience with regards to using magical powers. Obviously, the more experienced the combatant is, the more skilled he/she will be. Shao Kahn's knowledge is mostly confined to the black arts, and this knowledge is minute compared to the knowledge that Shinnok has. While Shao Kahn is well-known for his arrogance and overconfidence, Shinnok is most well-known for his wisdom and cunning. So this should also give a clue as to why Shinnok has the advantage here. Besides, Shinnok should always be beyond what Shao Kahn is or could ever be because of his "Fallen Elder God" status. Shao Kahn's superior physical abilities (strength and such) won't really matter.

True .. but .. in a fight 1 vs 1, Shinnok can not hurt to Shao Kahn... .. Shinnok can not be destroyed, he is a god .. Shao Kahn destroys the body to Shinnok, but Shinnok back to life .. I think it is similar to Juggernaut vs Mr.Sinister.. Mr.Sinister can not hurt to Juggernaut, but Juggernaut can not destroy to Mr.Sinister.. Shao Kahn Wins - K.O.

Yes, he certainly can.

So, Shinnok is simply going to let Shao Kahn "destroy" his body?

Actually, it is plausible that the Juggernaut could knock Mr. Sinister out. However, you are right. The Juggernaut can't "kill" Mr. Sinister.

Raiden is a god, like Shinnok, and he could not tickle Shao Kahn .. understand now?

@serum: So you are comparing Shinnok to Raiden simply because they both were/are Elder Gods?

You do realize that Raiden doesn't have the same powers and abilities that Shinnok has, right? That should be self-evident.

Raiden gets weakened and loses his powers whenever he enters a domain that isn't native to him, and Outworld is the best example of this.

Shinnok was dead, like all .. Shao Kahn was the only winner in this war armaggedon .. Shinnok, Quan Chi and Shang Tsung were killed .. you can see in the video ..

Edamame are mistaken in their answers in this poll .. Armageddon in the war .. the only ones warriors left alive were Shao Kahn and Raiden .. Shao Kahn easily killed to Raiden.. Shinnok was killed on the sub-floor like all the other warriors .. see the video .. here there is nothing to discuss .. the video speaks for itself...

Not to mention that's Kahn powered up by millions of souls there. My money is on Shinnok playing Kahn like a fool.

No. As a matter of fact, it was Shinnok who was basically responsible for Shao Kahn's demise and "death". Shinnok used Quan Chi to basically trick Shao Kahn into failure; Shao Kahn was "blinded by rage".

Furthermore, Quan Chi managed to survive and wasn't really dedicated to Shao Kahn's cause because he was working for Shinnok.

I am sorry, but this has nothing to do with Shinnok vs. Shao Kahn. lol

Shinnok is a God, and he is superior by nature .. but God in a human body ... Shao Khan has an unstoppable destructive power .. Shao Khan is known for his divine strength, extreme callousness and his love of personal executions .. is difficult to Shinnok defeat Shao Khan (no prep) ... Shinnok would need time to prepare to destroy Shoa Khan..

um guys don't use the amregddon arguement cause that wasn't the real shinnok but a clone he sent in his place and he is an elder god and one of the elder gods that created the realms out of the body of the one being. also raiden was stated to have power that rivals shoakaun and if thats true then shinnok who outm atches raiden in terms of power out matches shokaun as well. though shoa kahn is likely a better fighter.

Judging from Mileenas ending from UMK3 her loyalty of Kahn was replaced by her fear of Shinnok. I guess that in someway says Shinnok is superior.

I'm backing Shao Kahn, his feats are pretty insane. If it wasn't for Elder Gods he would've succeed.

This, assuming we're talking about end of MK9 Shao Kahn.

I'll take Shinnok on a neutral day, but IIRC Kahn at his most powerful resisted the fucking Elder Gods + Raiden for a time, so it'd be a stomp for Kahn on their best days.

As for the neutral: Shinnok's not a bad fighter and can tangle physically with Kahn for a bit, dude ain't gettin Kung Lao'd. Besides that, his knowledge of magic is probably the deepest of any in the series, including Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Of course if Shinnok tries to match him in H2H he loses, but if he mixes in some magic he might be able to take it.

shinnok is superior to both shao kahn and kronika because all of shao kahns magic especially his soul magic comes from shinnok and shinnoks dominion over neatherrealm gives him an infinite supply of souls to fuel the hour glass and boost his power and his immortality makes him imune to temporal magic shinnoks only weakness is the green halo the cages posses and quan chi and his reliance on his amulet and his ignorance to non godlike beings
