WSS>Not WSS
WS Haki>Not WS Haki
Shanks would probably win in the absolute end, but let's not forget shanks became renowned for fighting Mihawk, not the other way around. Mihawk is a long established yonko class fighter, so this is not going to be anything shy of another akainu vs aokiji type battle.
Shanks bodies the fraud lmao
I don't know why the fuck is the one piece community so ignorant when it comes Mihawk and Shanks. The series can't be any more explicit on who how they are comparing Shanks to Mihawk. Oda wrote a gallery of statements saying Mihawk is the strongest swordsman and the spoilers confirm that Shanks is a swordsman too. His narrative also portrays someone to be beyond Shanks as well.
"Oh but shanks is Haki man!!!!" One of the most stupidest counters. It's been heavily established that swordsmanship involves Haki, it's a very crucial factor when fighting with a sword, we see this with Zoro, Oden and Mihawk as well. And it doesn't matter whether Shanks have better Haki, he still is a confirmed swordsman by Oda. And we know that he doesn't have the statement of the WSS
"Shanks have better feats!!!" Like that proves anything, having better feats doesn't always make you stronger then characters who doesn't, especially when we know they are stated weaker. All the feats Shanks did, Mihawk can do it as well if not much better
Many people like to Downplay Mihawk and his feats in MF out of context. it fucking kills me, The community needs to be spoonfed with direct and verbatim statement and can't follow or comprehend author intention or implications. Shanks stans will forever cope with shanks being above Mihawk, even though there is a preponderance of evidence suggesting the opposite
Mihawk off the new statements unless he’s another oden and skill doesn’t completely correlate to power.
Sword skill includes the Breath of All Things which is Observation Haki and Armament Haki so Mihawk should be stronger than Shanks in those aspects.
Since they compared Mihawks swordsmanship to Shanks then that means Shanks is most likely a swordsman as well which means Shanks falls under Mihawks title.
Featwise Shanks spanks tho.
@legend531: mohawk is only a better **swordsman** than shanks.
Anything else, he gets folded. Op never stated it was a sword fight
@mrkillingspree: agreed
So they compared Mihawks sword skills to a non swordsman? LMFAO
Imagine thinking shanks isnt a swordsman
mihawk might have better skill in terms of swordsmanship but what reigns supreme is Haki.
Swordsmanship in One Piece has levels this is clearly seen in early series when Zoro could not cut steel and had to understand it through his fight with Mr 1, same way Haki has levels as well.
lets use an example lets say Mihawk swordsmanship is 100 and Shanks is 90, but Shanks Haki is 200 while Mihawk is 150
swordsmanship is a Skill not Power level same applies in RL you have Martial arts Grandmasters that have 40-60+ years of experience but their stats would still be inferior to Pro Athletes due to age.
I'm going with Mihawk here.
Based off new chapter statements + long ago where Mihawk stop sparring with Shanks after he lost his arm, claiming it would be an unfair fight.
Haki is a crucial part of swordsmanship as Mihawk himself said.
And anyway Shanks is a confirmed swordsman and Mihawk is both the strongest and most skilled swordsman.
There are many things both in and out of the story supporting each being stronger than the other. However, narratively, it would make a bit more sense to me if Mihawk was stronger so that's who I'm going for.
I can see the arguments both ways. Mihawk title came around the time he was fighting shanks which is well before shanks grew in power to the emperor level. I also feel like the WG doesn't have the greatest scope of what shanks can. People like akainu likely doesn't even know that shanks is meeting the gorosei in Marie joie. So they may just be rating it on what they assume he can do. Wouldn't at all be surprised if he actually beat mihawk
@legend531: amen brother
