Of course we all know Batman is a great hand to hand fighter, but is he good enough to take on arguably the greatest kung-fu master in the Marvel universe?
From Wiki:
Shang-Chi is classed as an athlete but he is one of the best non-superhuman practitioners of martial arts and has dedicated much of his life to the art, being referred to by some as the greatest empty handed fighter and practitioner of Kung Fu alive. Much of his physical abilities seem to stem from his mastery of Qi, which has often allowed him to surpass physical limitations of normal athletes. In one instance, Shang was able to stand shirtless in minus 20 degree weather without feeling any physical discomfort. He has also demonstrated the ability to dodge bullets and to deflect single shots with his bracers. He is highly trained in the arts of concentration and meditation, and is also an expert in various hand-weapons including the bo, nunchakus, and shuriken.
Shang Chi vs. Batman (hand to hand)
Shang is probably faster, Batman even at peak has problems pushing himself to bullet timing levels
Shang may be faster but I think Batman hits harder, Batman has put some huge guys on their rear
Who is better? has the best techniques? Who will KO first?
that's tough
bo-staff and nunchakus Vs the famous Utility Belt
That's easy
Batman wins

"Batman even at peak has problems pushing himself to bullet timing levels."No, he doesn't. Anyway, bullet timing isn't a factor here.
I'm giving it to Shang too
I think his mastery of Qi (cosmic energy that buffs his strength, speed, durability etc.) makes him superhuman at least during fights
oh, and IMO neither Shang nor Batman can truly bullet-time like in The Matrix, they just dodge before the bad guy shoots
" I'm giving it to Shang too I think his mastery of Qi (magic energy that increases his strength, speed, durability etc.) makes him superhuman at least during fights "Qi isn't magical.
"and IMO neither Shang nor Batman can truly bullet-time like in The Matrix, they just dodge before the bad guy shoots "
Shang seems to be dodging them after they are fired here.
"Jack Burton would disagreeUsing movies to prove a point isn't helping you. Qi/chi/ki isn't magical."

" batman's going down unless he uses gadgets :) "I disagree.
" @Static Shock: I changed it to cosmic "I would call Qi/Chi a kind of Spirtual Energy
wikipedia :
QUOTE
It is frequently translated as "energy flow," and is often compared to Western notions of energeia or élan vital (vitalism) as well as the yogic notion of prana. The literal translation is "air," "breath," or "gas" (compare the original meaning of Latin spiritus "breathing"; or the Common Greek πνεῦμα, meaning "air," "breath," or "spirit"; and the Sanskrit term prana, "breath" )
I guess he can then, has Batman ever done that?
cuz if he hasn't I think he's going to get his face caved in by Shang.
Spiritual is a good term, there's no proof of what Qi is or isn't, and that's honestly not the point, I don't care if it's magic or metaphysical or whatever
point is it raises Shang's physical ability to a superhuman level
"I would call Qi/Chi a kind of Spirtual EnergyOr a vital life force associated with breath and bodily fluids and sought to control its movement within the body in order to achieve longevity and spiritual power. Nothing magical about it.
"cuz if he hasn't I think he's going to get his face caved in by Shang? "That's just like me saying Shang is going to get his face caved in by Batman...

" that sounds pretty "magical" to me."In literal teams, it isn't. In short, it's physical life force. Magical and physical are two different things. They contradict each other.

"then a lot of fantasy powers wouldn't be magic i.e. cosmic, the Force etc. "
Cosmic powers are never depicted as magic. it's just a superhuman ability that's bound by scientific effects. Like what the Silver Surfer does. Magic isn't bound by science.
" well so far everyone's going with Shang except you, we'll see if that changes :D "i don't care for Majority Rules or Bandwagons. It's not a logical way of deciding on something, anyway.

"why are you backing batman? "I honestly think he's a better fighter than Shang, being a master of hundreds of styles while Shang is only a master of a few. He also trumps him physically.

" @m0ntyb0y said:i think batman might be stronger but i dont see him being any more physically superior. and once you get past 10 or 12 styles how much do those other 100 something help you? if you know one really all-around style, then you'd be as ready for anything as someone who's studied hundreds of styles. and master of kung fu to me means he's the master of all chinese martial arts. china's got so many styles and they are so varied that i dont think knowing anything outside of kung fu would make you any better of a fighter." well so far everyone's going with Shang except you, we'll see if that changes :D "i don't care for Majority Rules or Bandwagons. a cross-over would be great to settle this...I'd buy it XD
Wiki: Although it has never been determined exactly how extensive Shang-Chi's fighting skills are, he has beaten numerous superhuman opponents. Even without having any superhuman powers, he has on several occasions matched other Marvel superhumans such as Spider-Man and the Thing. In one instance, he indefinitely held off a crowd of at least 30 super criminals for Captain America with help from Falcon. After the death of fellow Hero for Hire, Orka, Shang managed to single-handedly take out the Headmen including a reprogrammed Doombot, although his hands were injured badly after the battle. All of these incidents were empty handed.
" i think batman might be stronger but i dont see him being any more physically superior."I don't know about that. Batman has shown to be faster and more agile than that of Shang Chi. Same goes for endurance, having spent months of rounding up villains that Bane helped escape to the point of exhaustion.

"The other hundred help out a lot, taking the most effective techniques from them and using them to your advantage in a fight. I'm aware of China having so many forms, but I doubt there's a hundred of them. I could be wrong, though. Shang Chi is an excellent fighter, but I haven't seen anything from him that would make me think that he could beat Batman in a H2H fight.

Shang Chi beat wolverine who has mastered many other fighting styles as well.
As far as the writing goes like static said.
Shang Chi is not very popular and I dont see him ever being popular but I've seen him deflect a punch from the thing..Even when it was weaker its still a good feat for someone who is just a human
" Shang Chi beat wolverine who has mastered many other fighting styles as well."Are you sure? Because Wolverine humiliated Shang Chi and was getting ready to kill him.
" he not only deflected the things attacks he straight out blocked and threw down with Korg.... without gadgets and a rubber nipple suit. "You act like he hasn't been hurt before in his suit. When he has.
" @geraldthesloth said:he is talking about when logan went to shang to learn new zen mental exercises and he ended up fighting shang. logan jumped onto a rail and lost his balance shang cut the rail and caused logan to slip and fall. shang then caught him logan was pissed and told him he came to learn from him but he wasnt getting nothing from him he grabbed his bags and took off." "No, I remember Shang-Chi beating Wolverine three times in one issue "That's entirely different from what I saw.

" also another person shang has faced against was elektra i dont know if he won or not or simply stalemated her but it is impressive as well. "Batman stalemated Bronze Tiger.
