Sentry vs Gladiator

Sentry (Mighty Avengers) vs Gladiator (Imperial Guard)

I love the Gladiator and he is one of the few people who should be able to fight someone as Uber-hench as the Sentry.BUT i just cant see a way to beat the Sentry [power of a thousand maybe a million exploding sons, ability to punch through reality and no apparant weaknesses by Tony Stark and Nick Fury's assesments] other than bad writing. The Sentry shouldnt be in comic well at least not often he should be a legend that everyone is scared of because he is so dam untouchable. Him in comics is redundant your average 9-5 criminal is not gonna last a nano-second against him. Cant believe they put him in a team, he could ruin the entire team with all his major appendages missing whilst asleep and reduced to 1/th his power. He is the man.

Actually, Sentry does have a major weakness, and it is...... his mental instability! Now, Gladiator isn't dumb, so I think he could probably think of a way to mess Sentry up pretty bad in the head. I'm not saying Gladiator would win, because I highly doubt he would, I'm simply saying that he could.

Mess up his mind eh?....He is Schitzophrenic yes but i dont think he will flake at a few comments a fight is a fight all that adrenaline pumping after a while i dont think psyching the dude out will work, also it doesnt solve the problem that physically the dude doesnt seem beatable [except of course maybe by Blackbolt who's power works on a molecular level]. Additionally making the Sentry flip is not something you want....remember the VOID?!?!!?....

But, it would distract him, thus raising Gladiator's confidence and overall abilities.

It would indeed Octagon and if you are talking about the Gladiator having a kind of minor reality warping ability [the jury is still out on that] then MAYBE he could win i.e 'I beleive myself able to rip even YOUR head off' heheh. but barring that. I dont see how a purely physical charcter can defeat someone who doesnt seem to be susceptible to standard physical attacks.

When I posted this battle I was a little unsure about the winner.

Both combatants possess similar physical powers - Superhuman strength, Invulnerability, Superspeed, Super endurance.

Both can emit energy beams from their eyes.

Sentry can also emit energy from his whole body.

Even though Sentry possesses the power of a thousand exploding stars (which by the way means that he would have a higher energy output than Galactus - who is in fact a single star), does this mean that he can output heat/light as those found in the centre of a star. As in previious posts, if Gladiator has flown through the heart of stars, then does this mean that Sentry's energy output will not bother him?

If we disciount the Sentry's potentially massive psionic abilities as he has not developed any yet (only has the psionic reservoir to tap in to) (and anyway, Gladiator has proven to be quite resistant to psionics in the past) then this brings us back to the physical arena and in that I would say they are pretty evenly matched. The one fact we do have in Gladiators favour is that Gladiator is a better fighter.

So does Gladiator win ?

I'm actuially going to favour Sentry with the win because I don't belive that we have seen his upper limit yet.

Gladiator's power fluctuates too drastically for me to confidently say he'd have a decent chance. Sentry's does too, but not as much.

1.Sentry is smarter than him.

2.Sentry can command more power at will.

3.Sentry proved that Hulk (accept for World War Hulk) couldn't hurt him.Hulk kicked the the sh#t out of Gladiator.

4.Gladiator got knocked out by a whisper from Blackbolt...Sentry has a whole conversation with him.

5.From #3 and 4 what I am getting at is Sentry is more durable than Gladiator.
