Ben has no real way to harm him unless there is water nearby and he doesn't have the speed or agility to avoid Sandman's attacks. I could be convinced otherwise though since I don't really know if SM has the feats to put Ben down.
copy that
@hurricanefunnel: @kal-elol: wrong, Ben has KOed Sandman in the past.

this then
Ben has a good history of getting blows in on Sandman, but I don't think that can occur anymore due to his current state of body. In fact, I would almost say this is a stomp in Flint's favour.
Discounting that information, I'd say Ben beats him about 8/10 times.
Basically a stalemate since they can't do anything to eachother
Still this.
@_logos_: Ben's knocked him out multiple times tho, usually when he made his head solid enough to be striked

Oh. I was basing the fight off of the scans in post #7 above. It looks like Thing is able to keep Sandman pushed back, but it didn't look like he knocked him out at the end so much as of overpowered him. But if there are other instances of Thing knocking out Sandman then I guess Thing would take a majority then.
@_logos_: Ye I've been researching Sandman and he really only gets knocked out because he makes himself solid enough to get tagged, which is more of a case of being stupid than anything else
Currently his body is always formed as sand, so Ben would literally be incapable of knocking him out
@professorrespect: Yeah, that's what I was wondering. It would be ridiculous for Ben Flint to stay in brick solid form when he could shape himself to take virtually no damage from Ben's attack since he's made up of sand. Unless Ben opens up a fire hydrant or something and makes Flint moist.
@_logos_: Well that's the thing, Flint likes to brawl more than actually be smart, so he usually tries to punch out Ben rather than doing the sensible thing and just taking away his oxygen or stuffing sand down his mouth
That being said he can do this depending on who's writing him, through it's not the most consistent
@professorrespect: IIRC the rules in battle forums assume that both characters are not jobbing, if that’s the case Flint should stomp.
If not...well, I still think Flint wins since realistically Ben shouldn’t be able to hurt him and the whole breaking him apart when he’s solid is irrelevant because he can reform. The times he was beat physically was bad writing.
@noobmaster2001: That's not jobbing, it's him in character. He's not exactly the brains of the operation. Usually when he does something smart it's either a bright idea or he's been influenced by someone else like the Wizard.
And you misunderstand the foundations of Flint's abilities, lol. He needs to actually turn his body parts into sand, otherwise he's a standard human by force of will. It's why people are able to knock him out in the first place, unless you count 85% of his stories where he gets KO's as all "bad writing"
@professorrespect: Okay fair enough thanks for clearing up more on his powers. I still think transforming into solid brick is pretty dumb even for someone of his intelligence, we have seen guys like Hydro man (A guy around as smart as Flint) try to suffocate Ben before so I feel that Marko would try that.
Obviously in comics CIS affects villains which is probably why Flint tries to fight as solid rock instead of doing the half smart thing, but in a non jobbing battle I think Flint stomps for the majority even though he’s not that smart, unless there’s something like fire hydrants lying about.
Na, I seen a thread where people said Sandman would beat Wonder Woman cus she couldn't hit sand...so keep that same energy with Ben.
Sandman wins by putting dirt in his eye
^ “I’m butthurt because someone said my favorite DC character loses therefore other character also loses”
Dumbest thing I’ve read today. Thing has beaten Sandman on multiple occasions and would do so again.
@thegreatone003: so basically Thing is Mid-Tier?
Got it
@ancient_0f_days: When did I say that? 🤨
I think Sandman could go inside Ben's rocky skin and expand or even control Ben's movements, but I don't think he has done anything like that in comics I've seen.
Can't view the scans above but ko or not, you can't really kill the sandman unless you put him in a furnace...

He's done similar to non-living organisms like Doombots, mechs, whatnot.
Sandman. It doesn't matter if Ben is stronger if he can't get any footing or grip. Ben can last a while holding his breath. He still needs oxygen eventually. This is why he loses.
Sandman tried doing that before and Thing broke out: that was with a significantly weaker version as well.
@professorrespect: Interesting, I'll have to look for that.
