Do you think Anakin (AOTC) was stronger than Qui-Gon Jinn ?
Qui-Gon Jinn vs Anakin Skywalker (AOTC)
Even the chosen one stands no chance against the incomparable Liam Neesons.
Seriously though Qui-Gon does win here.
Going with qui gon
QGJ would win here , in AOTC anakins arogance far exeeds his actual skill at the time :
the dude thought he is better than yoda :D ...
however if this would be ROTS anakin than it is a different story and jinn gets destroyed ...
@dark_globe: i agree, that and qui gon doing well against a blood lusted maul is a far better feat than being toyed with by count dooku.
i also cannot shake of the feeling that if jinn wasn´t killed by maul he would made a far better teacher for anakin than obi wan did ...
i think anakin would not even fall to the dark side if jinn would be around ...
It really comes down to how you feel about either of their respective performances against Maul and Dooku.
QGJ takes this battle, but not with ease. I'm not one to overly prop up experience, but IMO QGJ can use his entire playbook (which he will have to) to draw out the battle to a time of his choosing. I think the Jedi master will conserve energy through lightsaber acumen accrued through decades of experience to frustrate/tire the young Skywalker. Only then, when Skywalker makes a bold over reach would QGJ utilize his Ataru form and quickly end this encounter.
Qui-Gon's focus will determine his reality.
at this point in the canon, to me its Qui-Gon 7.5/10. Skywalker's speed, creativity, & brute force for the difference.
Qui-Gon *kinda* challenged Maul. Anakin legitimately pressed Tyranus. I'm going with the Chosen One.
Hmm. For Legends, I actually might lean Anakin given to my knowledge the novels (I could be remembering incorrectly) establish that Maul wasn't seriously pushed by Qui-Gon and was manipulating the fight the entire time, whereas Anakin legitimately pushed Dooku. And given I'd rate Dooku>Maul, pushing Dooku would seem more impressive than somewhat contending with Maul, but not actually pressing him. Correct me if I'm wrong about the novels though.
For canon, I don't think there is anything stating that Qui-Gon didn't legitimately push Maul to some degree, whereas I believe it was stated that Dooku defeated Anakin easily in canon. If that is the case, then I'd say Qui-Gon's showing against Maul is a better one than Anakin's showing against Dooku, even though Dooku is a better opponent than Maul.
I don't believe Qui-Gon wasn't being manipulated during the battle with Maul. At least, not in their first duel. In fact, it's stated that Maul had never been so committed to a fight before barring his matches against Sidious.
Regardless, Qui-Gon had quieted his mind and brought his imposing might to bear against Maul’s agility. He had matched Maul’s furious strokes with a disciplined intensity all his own. In the midst of their no-quarter contest the Jedi had even managed to order the slave boy to flee for the safety of the waiting ship, where Maul had nearly forgotten all about him.
The Force favors this Jedi! Maul recalled thinking.
After all the droids, assassins, gangsters, and soldiers he had vanquished, finally a worthy opponent. Not since he had fought and been defeated by his own Master, Darth Sidious, had Maul been so committed to a challenge.

Beyond that, I recall Qui-Gon Jinn being compared to Mace Windu but I'd have to find the source for it to be relevant here.
Regardless, though, Qui-Gon's primary weakness is his stamina. He only retreated from Maul the moment his stamina started to tank and even Maul was kind of surprised (and annoyed) that Qui-Gon just straight up bailed on their battle just when it was tipping in his favor.
I'd say Qui-Gon takes this more times than not, though.
Qui-Gon was almost equal to TPM Maul. AOTC Anakin is a peer of AOTC Ventress, who is outclassed by AOTC Kenobi, who is outclassed by Grievous. Unless you think that Jinn is vastly below Grievous, he stomps.
Plus, Jinn scales above ANH Vader, who lost to TPM Maul harder than Jinn did, and Maul told Vader that Jinn was better than him.
Anakin somewhat outclasses Jinn with his use and application of the force combatively but Jinn has the edge in general experience. Saber wise they are nearly on par, perhaps Jinn's strength with his use of an adapted Ataru is a bit more refined than Skywalker's Shien. Though I am very unsure if Jinn really gets the edge in sabers. In an All-Out fight, I think Qui-Gon wins in a very hard fight, 6/10.
Assuming they are both performing at their best Anakin.
Sixteen year old Anakin is capable of performing on Jinn’s level after he centers himself.
“He reached out to the Force. He remembered the lessons he had learned from Soara Antana, the great Jedi Master. The Force comes from stillness, she had said. Find your still center, even in the midst of battle.”
...
“Never had Obi-Wan seen such a display of the Force from aPadawan. From the great Jedi Masters, yes. From Qui-Gon, near the end of his life. But from someone so young? Anakin's power astonished him. He had glimpsed it before, but now he had seen it unfurl, and it staggered him.”
Seventeen year old Anakin would exceed this feat:
“He felt the Force move, a boiling mass that caused him and Siri to jump to their feet on top of the cruiser.
...
Obi-Wan had never seen such speed. Even he could not fully track his apprentice's movement. Balancing on the lip of the cruiser, faster than sight, Anakin reached in and grabbed the transmitter from Omega's clutches.”
This means Anakin moved faster than Kenobi’s seen even Maul perform as incredible as that sounds. Yaddle and Yoda* as well, who surpassed 16yo Anakin's feat. Though Yoda was likely not showing the full extent of his power on that occasion, as he would emphatically surpass peak AotC Anakin's performance.
Qui gon has experience and is likely a better duellist, his performance against maul is better than being toyed with by dooku, although anakin had just fought a long battle.
Anakin seriously blitzes. People should read up on the Jedi Quest series. Even Padawan Anakin is broken as hell
Anakin is better, so he should win but Qui Gon is more experienced and mature so I could also see him pulling off a W
Some people would say Anakin stomps. But I'm not one of those people. He definitely wins, but Qui-Gon should be a decent challenge.

AotC novelization and Most Precious Weapon both say Anakin pressed Dooku, so even as of Episode II he was legitimately a challenge for him. That's a better feat that pressing Maul, and Anakin is already substantially more powerful in the Force. I don't say Anakin stomps (which is what some will argue), but he does definitely win.
Qui-Gon has more experience and skill at this point, Anakin is already more powerful.
Qui-Gon in a good fight.
