Qui-Gon replaces Darth Maul in the throne room battle against Pre Vizsla. Vizsla has all of his standard gear. Jinn has his lightsaber and can use the Force defensively and to augment his physical abilities, but cannot use any offensive attacks (push, pull, etc.). The fight is to the death.

Who wins and why?

If Vizla opts to use all of his gear, then he might win, but if tries to engage Qui Gon blade to blade, he dies

I know he could block blaster bolts with relative ease, as could most other skilled Jedi Masters. However, without the use of offensive force powers, and with Vizla having access to other equipment such as his jetpack, grenades, flamethrower etc., he could definitely give Qui-Gon lots of trouble

Where did you get that feat from though? That's a mighty impressive feat by Qui-Gon.

Dear lord where did you find that? I know Jedi should easily be capable of such things but such a feat is up there in canon.

Interesting. He no-sold omnidirectional blaster fire like it was nothing, despite being a practitioner of what is considered a highly aggressive form. That's a good feat actually. Maybe not for SW threads but SW vs other universes? Yes

Considering that particular feat, that's fair enough.

Compare that to him being unable to handle blasterfire from a single assassin in Cloak of Deception. Or Maul being hardpressed to deflect blasterfire from a single bounty hunter in Shadow Hunter. How vastly Star Wars writers differ on their ideas as to power levels never ceases to amaze me.

I do prefer the more 'powerful' depictions of the characters. That's why I enjoyed watching the 2003 miniseries so much and why I give ROTS and Labyrinth of Evil writers as much credit as I do for their respectful portrayal. It gives a lot of emphasis on important details and highlights the strengths of the characters but makes sure they aren't without weakness. It's much more entertaining and immersive compared to consistent inconsistency and turning characters into shadows of their former selves.

I wasn't restricting my comment to any one continuity. I was referring to Star Wars writing as a whole. And it's not a select instant of PIS in that book, they were consistently weak. Maul had to flee from a wrist rocket or die, and also for a speederbike detonation. Qui-Gon had to gather all his power to push someone, and Darsha Assant who was established as TPM Kenobi level was almost overwhelmed by a group of young thugs, couldn't handle sniperfire and while amped could only manage to hurl some containers, then was killed by fuel container explosions that nearly killed Maul too. Maul also couldn't jump a chasm that 2003 CW series Obi-Wan could easily clear.

It is good to see that Qui-Gon is being dealt a good hand in writers now.
