Pennywise can become whatever you are afraid of and is mentally psychotic. Freddy can mess with your dreams and is also a sick ****. Who wins between these two nightmares?
Krueger isn't doing anything to Pennywise. The clown might be able to do something to him, but I don't know. I don't really know much about Pennywise. He's one of the evil gods from the Dark Tower series, though (I love how Stephen King somehow connects all of his works, or most of them).
Pennywise is not really a clown, and he doesn't come from the dark tower, he is a part of SK's universe, which you could call the dark tower universe.
He is a high level demon from Todash space, which is the space between worlds where all the worst monstrosities of history were banished when the worlds were created. Pennywise is a similar level demon as Tak from The regulators.
Anyway, Pennywise is whatever you fear most and in most cases does NOT appear as a clown. Sometimes he is a dead body, sometimes the wolf man and sometimes abusive parents.
He is like a prime-evil creature from before the current world came to be. He definitely is way out of freddy's league.
" Pennywise is not really a clown, and he doesn't come from the dark tower, he is a part of SK's universe, which you could call the dark tower universe. "Oh, I know he didn't originate from the DT books, I was just saying that he's in there as a high-class being. I never saw or read It, but I want to now (and I have wanted to for a while).
Pennywise was not killed by battery acid. The kid sprayed him with his inhaler, and told him it was battery acid. Just like freddy, Pennywise needs a certain amount of belief to function. Those particular kids were sort of destined to confront Pennywise, and it was their power of belief that allowed them to harm him. The silver was only important as it functioned as a focus for them. They thought silver would kill a wolf-man, which is one of the forms pennywise attacked them with, so they invested it with power through their belief.
Pennywise is one of Stephen King's lovecraftian monstrosities from before the world existed. It isn't Cthulu, but something akin to it. Freddy is the angry ghost of a human.
Pennywise stomps. hard.

"But Freddy is the son born of hundreds of murderers, rapists, and the most evil people that had raped his mother, a nun that was accidentally locked up with the insane people and then impregnated. Freddy has powers from hell and whatever the person is afraid of he will use against them. Hell>Dark Tower.
Hell < dark tower.
The dark tower is the embodiment of the nexus between all possible worlds. it holds them together, and is the linch-pin of their existence, that includes all possible hells tied to these worlds.
What's more, Pennywise is not from the dark tower. Nothing is really "from" the dark tower. Pennywise is a "demon" (good enough word) from todash space which is the nothing between worlds.
Also, im not sure if you are familiar with this, but Freddy is not the son of hundreds of murderers, rapists and lunatics, but the son of only one of these men. That isnt how sexual reproduction works.
Incidentally, in "Wes Craven's new nightmare" Craven drops a little bit of a hint that Freddy isnt the ghost of Freddy Krueger after all, but some kind of lore demon which inhabits the story of particularly cruel characters and then kills using the parameters of that story.
This lends a little bit more weight to Freddy than simply being a ghost of a crazy guy, but still puts him far below Pennywise.
It is kind of inaccurate to call IT pennywise, btw.
Pennywise is the clown disguise, while IT is an otherworldly demon who manipulates people, feeds on their feer and despair, and terrorizes civilization for thousands of years.
Pennywise is a god-like being. The only reason the kids beat him is because the had the will of the turtle, the being of pure good, and the strength of Gan, the creator of everything, very similar to God. honestly Freddy is nowhere near IT's levels. Pennywise is just one of his forms. his true form is something known as the deadlights that causes all those who see it either immediate death or paralysis. He can read anyones mind. He can shapeshift into any being he wants. and has cosmic level power. he is said to be more powerful that The Turtle who created our universe. So Pennywise wins. If you dont believe me read the book or look it up
Pennywise is an inter-dimensional god being who is on the same level as the entity that (accidentally) created our universe. He is strong across all planes of existence where as freddy is only strong in dreams. As far as any lore on him says, pennywise does not need to sleep so freddy has no real way to fight him.
Also , freddy is not, as far as we know, well versed in the Ritual of Chüd, the only known way to do anything resembling damage to pennywise....i'm almost tempted to call a missmatch, lol.
Not trying to be annoying but u said pennywise doesn't sleep, however in the movie IT they spoke about how every 30 years something bad would happen or there would be murders and then IT would just sleep for another 30 years e.g. it was awake when they were kids then it slept until they were about 40 and they had to take him on again. In conclusion both Freddy and It can never really die.
Also I really do hope that someone will make a remake of IT
Anyone here think IT would be an interesting match for the Doctor? (Dr Who)
I mean, IT's unkillable by conventional means and normally kills very quickly, but the Doctor has his universal aura which would cause IT to monologue to him. The Doctor would have to find a way to exploit ITs weakness without the help of the Turtle.. god (good god in SK universe that helped the kids kill IT).
Anyone think the Doctor could pull it off?
It is implied in the novel that Pennywise/It has consumed and devoured worlds, he just happens to stay on earth because he likes the food. He is arguably the most powerful entity Stephen King has created, while some would say that title belongs to The Crimson King I would place It much higher. Where as the Crimson King has schemes and plans It is content to simply eat and sleep.
