Gyarados. Anime always portrayed Gyarados as a very powerful pokemon that was incredible difficult to train.

Edit the location and add no water abilities and I'd be curious to see what ppl think about that... add a round for just a physical fight, no abilities :)

Water > rock. That just basic weaknesses for pokeman games and TV shows.

Except in the case of Onyx, where turning in a sprinkler system absolutely hurts them.

@pyrofn: Counterpoint that's Brock's Onix, so not every Onix, and in the same anime, a trainer taught his Sandshrew to be water resistant.

@wut: Counter to that counterpoint, not every ground type works the exact same way. If a Sandshrew gets a feat, it should be attributed to the Sandshrew.

But agreed. Thunder Armor is telltale of how the anime makes no sense.

@pyrofn: Counter Counter 9000, Brocks Onix is not the only Onix we see, it is one of the weakest [With the wild one they find that Bruno comes to get being far stronger and far larger then Brock's], so we cannot claim all Onix in the anime are so weak they get hurt by sprinklers when said wild Onix was a semi-truck of destruction.

The Sandshrew was to point out that 'typing' really only matters when the plot wants it to in the anime as a fellow ground type thanks to 'training' could ignore it.

Crystal onix is better matchup than normal onix as it hard counter Gyarados water typing.

But Red Gyarados has some pseudo legendary esque feats so either crystal or not he give onix a beating of his life.

Onix is kinda trash. It has a massive defense but it doesn't have the hp to back it up
