Ninjas vs. Samurais
Zenma says:
"Barry Flash says:"I'd say Ninja's, more stealthy and generally better. In my opinion."they are better equipped, but samurais are better skilled in swords, they have better, longer swords, and has armor, ninjas has little or no armor at all"
Yeah i know, but i was thinking along the lines of a Scenario where they pick off the Samurais one by one in stealth.

well maybe at night or a dense forest
Zenma says:
"Akira Overdrive says:"Actually,I must say Ninja. Most Ninja have been Samurai, they have an advantage there."that is true, but the fact that they have to have no armor and have shorter swords gives them a slight disadvantage"
Not really. They are much faster then a Samurai would be,unless the Samurai was ill equipped.

in terms of armor and swords yes, but i do agree that ninjas has more arsenal of weapons
Realistically, and historically, the samurai were always the better swordsmen. Ninjas had to rely on stealth kills. In an all-out war, Ninjas would be decimated. They are not as experienced in swordplay is the samurai are.

And the samurai would know that the ninja would try to attack at night and plan for it and with out the element of surprise ninjas lose this war.

i see that is true because that is what ninjas are all about...also mushashi is on the samurais
umm.. I watched it on the History channel and a normal ninja
could take on 3 samurai at once.. and this is because there
martial art is to kill and paralyze.. and the samurai have too
heavy of swords. When they swung them on the Ninjas the ninjas
were to fast and had bear claws so the Samurai had stories of them
using magic to catch the blade with their hands. Oh and Ninjas are
still around and there are no more Samurai anymore...
NINJAS WIN!!!
yes but the Ninjas had weapons that cut off the legs of horses!
and the ninjas are too good for armor.. just History Channel doesn't lie
and it says Ninjas..

Ha!
Historically Ninja were exiled Samurai, they are equal if not better swordsmen.
Also,I do agree that in all out war Ninjas would lose, unless fought in chapters and sections.Giving the Ninja time to plan and attack.

Shinobi is either a Ninja or Samurai..its another way of saying "warrior"
Akira Overdrive says:
"Why do you say Samurai!?"They are more of a "war" type fighters. Ninja are ment for quick stealth assassins, not winning a war.

This is overall, not only a war.
TRTrunks says:
"Well, the samurais may be skilled with the sword but ninjas are better equipped and can kill them from distance."
Ummmmm........ The Samurai were skilled with the long bow. It's range was much farther than any projectile a ninja could use.
Come on, didn't you guys see The Last Samurai, lol?

Some samurai were ninjas (like Hittori Hanzo), but not all of them. There were only some that were documented as being ninjas. Most ninjas were civilians from villages. But, because they were very secretive, there wasn't much evidence to show for them. In any case, ninjas have never stacked up to samurai in terms of swordplay. Ninjas were mainly used for espionage, sabotage, assassination, special operations, etc. They weren't battle-ready like the samurai were. Samurai had wartime experience. Trained as soldiers, and were used for regular combat.
In an all-out war, ninjas cannot use stealth, because it would be useless. Ninjas don't have enough wartime experience to survive against the samurai, because it isn't their main field. If ninjas could ambush a samurai camp with stealth kills, then yes, ninjas would be the better choice. But, that isn't how the battle is set up, according to the person who started the thread. Let's take the weapons for instance. A standard katana (samurai sword) is longer than a ninjato (ninja sword). And, because it is so much smaller than a katana, ninjas have to get closer to the opponent. Against a samurai, which is a better skilled swordsman, getting close would leave a ninja at a disadvantage. Also, the ninjato back in those days wasn't very sharp, and it wasn't as durable as a sword either. Though, I could be wrong, because history on ninja isn't very accurate. The sword wasn't even meant for dueling, but more for quick, stealth kills.
Akira Overdrive says:

Incorrect. Shinobi has nothing to do with the samurai. It means 'to steal away' or 'to forbear'. It has nothing to do with warrior, and is only used in terms of ninjas. What you said sounds completely made up. In pop culture, shinobi is used to identify a male ninja, with kunoichi used to identify a female ninja.

Samurai are very skilled with their swords, and extremely swift. I read that 1 samurai could take on 10 men with swords and spears. These guys are trained warriors, ninjas aren't. Ninjas are obviously more popular, but samurai win.
A ninja will do whatever it takes to kill. They wont let tradetion and morales stop them from winning. I think this gives them the upper hand. Like someone mentioned, they are assasins, the have a large array of weapons not just there sword.
Unless its Tom Cruise we are talking about then the samuri will win for sure.
